I am a returning "oldtimer" from days when the forum was in a MS Access database and EVE was but some screenshots and a movie without any UI. We (the forum crowd) spent time analyzing the movies and were extatic when we spotted an icon and the mouse pointer at 51 seconds in...
To the point. I just got an email treating me to a week of going back into my pod and taking a look at EVE again. I would as the Senior Producer have prepared for this invitaion of old players by organizing something in-game to gather us lost souls into a group and give a tour of EVE anno 2007 as compared to EVE anno 2003.

I would like to see the Research agents retained - to help you optimise BPCs. Where a research job with the agent will achieve a greater or faster improvement in one characteristic of the BPC only. Several restrictions could be placed on this, for example the number of times that optimisation could be attempted.
However, that is for a flaming hot thread.
Have a nice day

Edited by: Esaam DeVries on 06/03/2007 12:50:31 I'd like to see an overall Player Owned Structures check-up (take it as a rather "wide" definition: poses and outposts). From bug-hunting to new modules and options from small corps to alliances. -- "Please, would you tell me," said Alice, a little timidly, ... "why your cat grins like that?" Better Documentation, this includes a better new players guide, along with a proper set of documentation for the game. Updating the website so the Item database is up-to date and things like the picture links to the Eve Chronicles wouldn't go amiss either.

'Interactive Mining'
Add something to mining that requires the miner to interact with the game in a more complex way than just "select asteriod, target, activate lasers, drag and drop ore into can".
I can think of hundreds of ways to make mining both more fun and harder to automate. In one fell swoop, you will be eliminating macro mining -and- making one of the most boring parts of the game more interesting. I'm sure you can think of a couple yourself in a coffee break.
And if you're worried about losing players who can no longer 'afk mine', just leave the old interface in as well, but make sure that that type of mining only gets you minimum yield, whereas if you're playing the 'mining game', you can get the top yield.

Improved collision detection. With high-tech ships that can survive in the void of space, blow each other up, and in some cases jump across systems, you'd think someone would have worked out how to stop the ship from trying to rub up against an asteroid or station. Perhaps even a toggle for those who like to use their ship as a battering ram.

1. the anchorable cans should degrade over time (i am so shure a bunch of those cans are not used any longer)
2. - skill training que - remove the member count and the name list from local chat, BUT DEFFINATELY KEEP LOCAL - make all listings exportable to file (current container, current asset search result, current cargohold, current hangar, current jump route) - horizontal scroll bars - drones ui - hotkey to often used functions (warp to xx, fire all guns, orbit at yy, order current drone group to attack target, order current drone group to dock)

I'm relatively new, so no screams if this was discussed million times in the past.
SKILL STACK!
Why omit this feature anyway? If it is concern of people going online, then its a strange one, 'cuz it takes around 30 seconds to change the skill. If its about getting money, then I dont see why not making skill stack while you allow character training on non-payed account.
There's no need to provide stacking of 10 skills. Even 3, or even 2 would ease life of lots of families :) without harming anything, as far as I can see.
More people will feel better about playng EVE, which is what you're looking for, right?
Cheers, your hypothetical CCP CEO.
I still dont get the idea, why character continues training on non-payed account, but I have to plan my personal life according to training plan of a virtual character. |

- Being able to quickly look up alliance level standings. (having them show up in character info)
As an alliance exec I am constantly being hounded by people asking "is corp x friend or foe ? " For some reason you can see your corp --> individual and corp --> corp standings by simply looking at a characters info but unfortunately absent is the alliance -> corp standings . Instead we have to go pull up the alliance info tab and look alphabetically through the list to see if / where they are listed. Life would be so much easier with this simple data field present.

I'd like to see the problems with large engagements concentrated on a lot more than is already so. Its a trademark thing for the game and would be a shame if it was going to be resolved by attempting to eliminate large numbers of players in single battles.
An idea i had today reading another thread was to give fleet commanders a way to send a heads up to CCP when they are planning an offensive. This would enable CCP to anticipate the extra server load for those nodes, although i am not sure if and how such a thing would work server-side. Another thing i read today (don't remember where and who gets the credit, sorry) was a chance for us to disable the models to battle client-side lag.
In short, please prioritize on the lag thing and pretty please don't let it cost us large engagements!

Only 1 thing? That is tough as there are 3 that I consider critial.
But, the easiest to fix: Change the font to something readable. A font where the o and 0 do not look identical and where you can tell 1 from l and Y from V.

I would introduce dynamic planetary economics. (Think of the Elite series of games).
Planets and starbases would supply and demand goods based on wealth, type and population, and also sec status.
For example, a poor, but heavily industrial planet with a high population would supply cheap robotics and consume basic foodstuffs.
Prices would be fixed by supply and demand. If demand was not met in a given period then the population would fall or output will decrease.
There would be a basic (adjustable) level of NPC trade, but most trade would come from players.
Low/zero-sec planets and stations would end up paying a premium to the traders who risked the journey.
Alliances could battle over further lucrative resources.
This could be tied into to system sovereignty with alliances taxing or otherwise restricting trade.
This would encourage 'carebears' into risky areas for more reward. ___________________ Chief Scientific Officer Technology La'Zie Author of The End |

Eliminate 'no-risk' PvP by
1. Drastically reducing the top speed of all ship classes; 2. Re-addressing the ability of fast ships to ignore damage (for example vastly improving the tracking of turret weapons - imagine if the counter to a nano-BS was a flight of destroyers?); 3. introduce a way to scan for cloaked ships (like you promised); and 4. putting an end to the embarrassment that is CTRL-Q by telling the very rare real discos to suck it up.
