What DPS does 20 fighter bombers do?

fking finally
Structure signature radius: Good, one dire needed fix done after xx years of missiles not hitting them for full damage.
Module changes: Why the mass addition for them / howmuch is it? Good for triage, too.
Dreads: What is the exact net effect on the nag? Why couldn't you make it work with dual bonused weapon platforms?
XL turrets: Good to see long range DPS buffed a little, it was lacking. With these ranges and (I suppose) the new effect from the siege module, short range guns will actually be viable on dreads.
Citadel missiles: This change puts torpedo max range at just under 60km which, like the shortrange guns, is much more reasonable. However this still does not fix anything about capital ships able to significantly reduce the damage from citadel missiles by simply moving. And it still doesn't fix the total inability of citadel missiles to deal damage against non-capital targets, something that dreads don't really need, but the leviathan surely does. Gun titans can reliably hit non-moving sub BS ships due to the tracking formula, however missiles don't stand a chance, ever.
Motherships -> Supercarriers: Mixed feelings, but you know why.
Titans: Why only a buff to the rag and lev?

One of these is a carrier, the other is a supercarrier
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:HMS_Ark_Royal_USS_Nimitz_Norfolk1_1978.jpeg
One of these is a carrier, the other is a supercarrier. They both perform the same function, carrying, launching and recovering aircraft. Motherships launch vessels or aircraft that can operate independently for periods of time away from the mothership. The way these ships perform are more like Supercarriers than a true mothership, so the new naming convention is more correct.

Wasn't the idea here that the word "mothership" was driving too much thought process behind player expectations of the ship and what the ship actually was? Mothership weakly implies a "home base" setup, which was kinda given to us by the clone vat bays, yet no one used the clone vat bays, and living out of a mothership is painful at best. As it is, the populace has been using motherships as "supercarriers" the entire time, and the word supercarrier, while weaksauce, doesn't carry around any expectation baggage on how the ship is supposed to perform OTHER than "better than a carrier"?

Titans Why would you want to fit guns on these ships when you do the damage of one single dread? Titans are usually in WC or FC posision so their fleet can benefit from their bonuses. If you want them to stay on the field there has to be a reason for them to be there and currently its better off as a drivebyship and fitting other modules like ganglinks / neuts / smartbombs.
Another problem is that Titans dont fit turret upgrade modules, so that your guns range will be lots less than that of a dread and thus useless for you to "sit with the fleet" and use XL turrets.
There is no incentive for fitting guns and staying on the field. Its sad that youll only see these ships on the field for 1 minute unless caught... Better to make them worth having on the field to battle over isnt it?
Some suggestions:
1 - Reduce the number of guns to 3 - Increase the damage mod to 200% - Some sort of optimal range bonus on these ships, let them be able to use close range weapons more efficiently or actually hit hostiles while staying on with the fleet. --> Keeps the damage the way it is now, but lets the Titan fill the fleet command role at the same time. With guns fitted it might stay, surely wont without.
2 - Keep the number of guns - Increase the damage output on guns to 200% - Also an optimal bonus. -->>Let the pilot choose between doing more damage than today and fill the role as a fleetcommand vessel.

Supercarriers. really need, along with titans, their own repair mods. 9600 repaired every 24 secs seems a little out of touch when a titan can do near 2 mil damage from one hit.

hey hey
the day that i drop out of warp and DONT bounce i'll have your babies.
siege bumpage is a total nightmare but tbh it was and is the epic bump after landing on grid BEFORE hitting the siege mod. if we siege on land . . . will the mass effect cause a dramatic slowdown of the bump ?
also one of the really really really really really really daniel essig really anoying thing about being in siege and general pos bashing is the awfull mechanic of the sentry drones and their return to drone bay speed. could sentry return to bay speed be increased about 1000% ?

Edited by: BlackHorizon on 21/12/2009 10:05:57 Give fighter bombers skewed tech 2 high racial resists (with current hitpoint values) so that remote repairing them in combat is actually worthwhile. This would also help the bomb situation somewhat.
Give the Hel a bonus to fighter bomber durability and mwd speed rather than RR amount.

Edited by: Kradenko on 21/12/2009 10:10:54 Finally! My mothership will finally be used :D
5 questions:
1. Will you be fixing the model sizes? This has been a problem for a loong time. Even if you have to stretch the textures please size them up. 2. Will there be any changes made to the remote ECM Burst for the Mothership. As stated above I agree with the jamming ability vs the lock breaking. Also maybe make it grid wide? A Titans DD does vast amounts of damage why can this also not be used to do vast damage. 3. Will the skill requirements for Fighter bombers still be Fighters V? 4. Why is a name change needed? 5. Will there be a chance that Super Carriers can also be concidered a fleet ship? By this would they also be getting a fleet bonus like the Titans?
Thanks for this post.

There are no plans to allow docking at this time (and not anytime soon).
Originally by: Sokratesz Module changes: Why the mass addition for them / howmuch is it?
The current change has activation of the state modules multiplying the mass by a factor of 10.
Originally by: Sokratesz Dreads: What is the exact net effect on the nag?
Dread pilots will find that the Nag does superior overall damage than the other dreads without damage mods, but this advantage narrows as you increase the number of damage mods.
Originally by: Sokratesz Citadel missiles: This change puts torpedo max range at just under 60km which, like the shortrange guns, is much more reasonable. I'd suggest you try testing these assumptions a bit, especially in the Leviathan.
Originally by: Sokratesz Titans: Why only a buff to the rag and lev?
It's actually not a buff but an adjustment to get them all doing the same level of damage.

this allows SC pilots to carry full racks of fighters and FB's and stops them from carrying 3000 hammerhead I's..?

The problem is: Capital fleet operations are more or less rare in eve. Motherships are manly used only in those kinf of ops. It is just boring to force the pilot to stay in this ship forever. This ship needs to dock somehow to allow pilots to switch ships. Otherwise you cant really enjoy the game.
There might be issues regarding stupid docking games...so consider to let them only dock in 0.0 Outposts with a special upgrade and increase the redock time to some hours or whatever. This would circumvent those issues and actually allow MS -Pilots to play this game without alt accounts. Would be really nice.

Originally by: CCP Abathur A special comment on the Hel û we realize that among these ships, the HelÆs bonus to repair might be seen as a bit æmehÆ. The other school of thought is that considering how useful remote repair is, especially when it comes to carrier combat, perhaps the HelÆs bonus is not so bad. So, what would you like to see here? Would an additional boost to the current RR bonus be welcomed? Ponies?
For those viewing at home, lets summarise the current non-logistics based bonuses for each mothership:
Amarr: Aeon 5% per level bonus to armor resists.
Caldari: Wyvern 5% per level bonus to shield resists.
Gallente: Nyx 5% per level bonus to fighter damage.
Minmatar: Hel None
So in summary, we have 2 benefiting self defense, 1 benefiting offense and 1 benefiting defense of other ships.
I'd suggest one of the following options:
- Balance them by having 2 with the resists and 2 with damage bonus (ie: give Hel the same bonus as the Nyx
- Give the Hel a bonus to the effectivness of warfare link modules per level, thereby still providing the role of benefiting defense of other ships
- Often Minmatar ships are given a velocity or agility bonus per level, this may suit the hel but would need to be 10% per level to have much of an effect. (giving it 150m/s at level 5)
- Still remove the logistic bonus on the Hel but in exchange give it 7 low slots and 7 mid slots so it can be equally shield or armor tanked
- Give the Hel a bonus to fighter-bomber damage only of 5% per level and limit the Nyx to 5% per level only to fighters.

Overall great changes. But what will happen when a dread is bumped out of siege then enters in-siege? Will it float for 1 trillion km dragging everything on its way?
Great improvement for naglfar. Still need to recalculate everything with new values to get a clear view of what all that means exactly.
I don t have a hel, only a nid. But oversizing the idea I could say YES other bonus is much needed.
As other suggested, might sound weird in a capital ship, but on a non webbable ship a LARGE speed bonus coudl work well. Side that with a NEEDED increase in mass of all motherships (so they have more inertia and harder to bump with a ceptor). Would be an interesting defensive measure for a Hel for example to be able to move at 170ms. Would help against dreadnaught guns, more than the resists bonsues from the aeon and wyvern, but would not help against sub capital weapons. That is an interesting balance. But the values would need to be tunned quite a bit to get something interesting and FAIR.
Other options are to try to give it offensive power. Something like 7.5% tracking and speed bonus to fighters (would make it a murder of support). But i prefer the speed one. Woudl be unique and interesting , a super capital with mobility enough to cross runnign near enemy dreads (with amss enough to not be bumped by an interceptor) .. that woould make EPIC movie content :)

Edited by: Merin Ryskin on 21/12/2009 10:52:11 THANK YOU.
Now please, please ensure that these changes go through this time.
Edit: as far as docking is concerned: what about allowing them to dock, but NOT to recharge shields/cap or repair while in station? Or even add a long (1 hour or more) timer before they can undock again? This would help with the annoyance of needing a second character to hold the mothership when you don't want to fly it (or take the huge risk of getting it stolen from a POS), but would remove the threat of invulnerable motherships playing station games. ----------- FREE ABATHUR - HAVING GOOD 0.0 IDEAS IS NOT A CRIME.

I have to say. Just as my faith in CCP was at an all time low, you CCP Abathur have proven that there is ligth at the end of the tunnel.
My questions are in reagards to motherhships, I know I'm probably not going to get an outright ansewer on them as of yet, but would be awsome to know if you are going to take some of the below questions in to consideration and if you have any thoughts on them?
1: Local Repair modules is pretty much redundtent with the current spec's, will there be any change to them? supercarrier bonus to reppers so that they equal a noaml triage carrier perhaps?
2: Will you boost orbit range, spped and hitpoint to fighters/fighter bombers? they are too easy to kill, and thus carrier/supercarriers will very easy to defang, not to mention a destoyed batch of fighterbombers or two will serious put a dent in to most peoples wallets. 300-400mill or so per flight of bombers?
3: The ECM burst module, also a pretty fail module at the moment, will you be looking in to making this worth while using on a supercarrier? a 20-30seconds relocking delay for the grid would be very nice.
And a side note, pls dont make them able to dock or make them significantly cheaper. they will multiply like horny rabbits, and hordes of RR Aeon's will be the order of the day.

Ok since you are on it:
1) Any adjustments on the leviathan CPU output? 2) Is the leviathan with 6 launchers gona have the same output as the turret counterparts? If so everything is fine, since it can fit a bridge mod, if not its gona be either the lowest dps titan or it couldnt use it logistical backbone. 3) What about not instant shield gang bonuses?

You might consider giving the Hel a 7.5% raw shield amount/level increase to put its EHP on the same level as the Aeon/Wyvern.
