Why did you even have a live dev blog if you've changed nothing from the original written one?
Just regurgitating your original positions was an unhelpful waste of our time and intelligence.
The worst offender? Nozh's brushing off the question on the future of roaming gangs. "It was fine in 2004..." Please don't treat your playerbase like little kids. The game is NOTHING like it was in 2004. Anchorable Bubbles, bombers, dictors, heavy dictors, recons, all have an effect on a actually thought out answer to this question. You have an intelligent playerbase, and we should be able to expect intelligent answers, at least when you give a dev blog purporting to answer questions.
All in all I feel like a simple forum post saying "The whole speed nerf is still as planned, no we didn't listen to any players, look for it on Sisi soon(TM)." would have been equally informative and WAY less time wasting. All very frustrating TBH. |

So are CCP Devs really that ignorant about how the PVP part of the game works? Or do they really want to turn the clock back to 2004 because everything seemed so much better then? Yea right....
What I see is not just a nerfing of ludicrous speeds (which is needed IMO) but the breaking of other things without addressing them first. I can see how this is going to work out in the end if the changes go trough as they are now
Nor do I get how how this will improve variety in the game when it clearly will make blobbing work even better. High SP, good setups and experience will mean less then bringing numbers. So in the end it will be good for the big carebear alliances and those that want a much more static EVE.
Or in other words: what we see is just a big dumbing down of the game.

have to say i was a bit shocked when i heared his answer about roaming gangs.
it actually feels like they have no idea what stuff they have given 0,0 alliances to stop roaming gangs already. this nano nerf will be a major buff for alliances defending space against small gangs

All I know is every time I go ratting in our alliance "controlled" space we get a "grab your recons, we've got a nano gang to chase off"
Sometimes we kill a few, sometimes we get most. More often then not we waste and hour. The ease of avoiding a fight, while still presenting a threat that nano gangs provide is well deserving of a nerf.

In my opinion this will affect blaster boats even more than what it will do to the speedy ships, and ccp doesn't wanna listen to that.. Gallente is the new amarr and even worse what amarr was.

CCP's stupidity began with drones nerf, continued with ECM BOOST, Then onto dampers nerf and so on.
And now they want to show us, that they still dont listen do their playerbase, they rather have their numbers ans graphs, but OMG, never log into game and try it by themselves.. ----- TCODA corporation is recruiting! TCODA is awesome! |

What I got from the live dev blog was: "About us taking the time to use your pages and pages of well thought out comments and ideas after our last attempt to implement this horse crap... LOL PSYCH! "
CCP has held to their habit of major game spoiling changes where just a tweak would work for a while now and as the OP pointed out, there seems to be a disconnect between the way they see the game and the way it is.
Don,t be asking for my stuff, I,m not ready to give up on Eve just yet, at least not while there is still no other game like it. Still, with the exception of the server improvements my hope for the game fades with every new dev blog
Please please read the initial feedback threads CCP, there are far better solutions there than what you have come up with.
Logistics deployables mean less grind and more pewpew! |

What we are seeing in this case is a Dev with a personal agenda, a personal hatred of a play style. They don't want to look at them because they spent 5 hours (oh good gods above) drawing up this nerf.
EvE is becoming nothing but a nerf/boost game. There is no reward for thinking of a clever setup. If you do you can be sure that it will be on the nerfing block the instant your lose mail hits a killboard and people copy it.
Those who are dying to nanos will be dying to RR BS as soon as this nerf is live. You think 20 RR BS are any less invincible than snaked up, gistii mwd, poly 2'd nano hacs?

Personally I think the way all bonuses stack in this game causes some major issues. Yeah, they've been a little nerf happy lately but speed really is broken atm. I hate nano gangs, but I've abused the crap out of them as much as the next guy. It works. Too well. Are there other things broken or overpowered? Sure there are, but speed is the flavor of the month atm. I really don't think anyone has an agenda. I think ccp truely want's a balanced fun game, that will be around for a long time. That's one of the reasons I still play.
CCP runs the game better then it used to. Now at least I don't get the feeling they run the game just for thier own personal enjoyment, or that they completely back the old players and aliances. I hope they continue to improve.

The question isn't whether nano needs to be nerfed. Some readjustment is in order... But this is a ham handed, slegde hammer blow. The reprecussions of this extend far beyond ships going to fast. If this nerf goes through as it is described they will need a minimum of 3 nerf/boosts to "fix" the damage it does. I'm sorry but this is a surgical situtation and they are using chainsaws.
Anyone who asks a valid question gets blown off or misdirected... Roaming was fine in 2004... Right. Many of the ship/mods we currently use didn't exist in 2004. CCP has yet to address the vast majority of legitimate questions. Blasterboats, acs and minmatar, RR BS gangs, drakes gangs... The list goes on.
We play this game too. We have a vested intrest here. I don't claim to "own" the game because I pay for it, but I reserve the right to speak out when I see an entire play style threated and a massively over done attempt to fix, or in reality destroy, it. Most of us agree that a change is in order, but not this change, not as they have outlined it.
I would like to see more variety in 0.0. What I do not want to see is an axiom shift: Nano ----> RR BS, Galente/Minmatar -----> Amarr/Caldari. This solution does not increase variety, it changes the required fit from mwds to remote reps and missiles. Give us a reason to fly all ships, not just the ones at the end of boost/nerfs. I will not trade in my cruiser sized ships for BS, if EvE goes this way I'm out. No rage or hard feelings. I just don't want to fly a big, slow RR, brick.

The game has changed, yes. So what? Even now when I roam with my corp, we use most of the time non-nanoed ships, and we're doing fine. Learn to play without exploiting flaws in the game mechanics. ------------------------------------------

So currently you can roam fine with nano and non-nano ships. Why reducing diversity in game? A flaw? If, as you stated, you can fight nanos with non-nanoed ships where is the flaw then?

Warp Scrambler 2 (to use when within 9km so you can turn your targets MWD off aswell). 2x Webber 2's (so the targets is actully slowed enough for you to actully catch up to them while your using an AB and it's taking about an hour to reach a decent speed). Cap injector/sensor booster etc (you will need one of these most likely)
There you go ccp, upgrade all blaster battleships to having at least 7 mids and we may be in business on the blaster Boat problems after this upcoming update.
Same pretty much goes for any other size blaster ship really.

You are doing fine now. With 90% webs... Your only thinking about killing the nano craze, your not thinking about the wide reaching changes this nerf is bringing about. Changes that effect nano and non-nano ships at the same time. This nerf will NOT increase variety in 0.0. It will change the rules, shift the required fittings. It will not eliminate pvp axioms, merely change them.

Well then, let's fix that.
Great game. I have a lot of fun playing eve. I don't have fun ratting, I don't have fun mining, I don't have fun running missions; I have fun killing people. I like almost every aspect of the game that involves killing people. I like flying fast ships, I like flying tanked ships on occasion. I like that you can get out of sticky situations if you are an excellent pilot in a perfectly-fit ship by taking advantage of small mistakes your opponents make (this goes for tanking and deaggressing as much as running away with speed).
I like that I can spend a bit of extra money on my ship to make it perform better. I like the adrenaline rush I get from fighting in a ship worth hours or even days of money-making work that could explode at any moment. I like that I can kill people who do the same, making them cry and reaping the rewards by using or selling the modules I take from their ships. I like the adrenaline rush I get from trying to catch or otherwise outsmart and kill those people. I like that no ship is ever truly unkillable, however I like that it can be very, very, very challenging to kill some ships, sometimes requiring hours of patience, preparation, and trickery.
I like many of the changes that have been made to combat mechanics in Eve over the last two years, particularly the use of implants and rigs to specialize setups of all flavors - speed, tanking, damage output, range. Some of these combinations are a bit too effective for their cost, but I will never complain about the expensive ones because in those cases with great benefits comes great risk, and Eve is a game about risk, loss, and making a buck while trying to take the other guy's buck away from him.
