I know we already have some fine applications that help you manage your financial data, like EMMA or EVE Income Analyzer.
However, as always, some things seem to be missing for me or don't work the way I'd like them to. Because of that, I've written my own Wallet manager over roughly the last year. I consider it now stable enough to share it with interested pilots of the EVE community.
I decided to call that beast EVEWalletAware. Here's a description and some screenshots of what it looks like: http://biotronics.basicaware.de/EVE/EVEWalletAware/index.html
That's also the place you can download the application.
I'm providing this free of charge for the benefit of the community. Enjoy and use as you see fit.

Only looked at the screeneies but it looks pretty impressive, in particular the cell mergin stuff looks impressive. Also looks like it was an absolute bugger to code that grid though! Good work. --------------------------------------

OK, been playing for nearly an hour now, love it, lots in fact...
Easy clean install, everything seems to be where you would expect it to be. Multiple chars, multiple accounts. Excellent stats on items traded, really excellent that bit in fact. A fresh way of displaying transaction data when stood next to the various other apps out there, congrats.
Yup, I likes this...
You are accepting donations I guess, cos I feel in the mood

Its a name that you choose to use to ID that account, doesnt have to be your actual account name on Eve. The User ID identifies the account from the API point of view...
...and yes, pays to be careful.
(Oh look at me, been using it for less than an hour and already operating the helpdesk )

Thanks a lot for the nice and kind words so far.
As for "coding the grid", well, as I've stated on that page, it's a (commercial) 3rd party grid, which does much of the magic itself. The hard part was more to find out what it offers and how it works than actually coding against it.
Multiple chars/accounts. Yes, that's what I missed the most form other apps, that's why it's in here.
And donations ... Yay!

You're absolutely right. That account name is something you make up yourself and is only there to help you identify which EVE account/char your currently using, in case you manage more than one EVE account with the app.

Right. Therefore let me state this here again: Do never ever use your EVE account name for any 3rd party software.

Currently on my "Sounds like a nice idea, I should look into this and see if I'm capable of implementing it"-list are (in no particular order):
- Reference the journal data (Broker's fee, Escrow fee, Market transaction fee) to the right transaction. As of now, the calculated margins don't take those into account.
- Add customized filters to the transactions. This would let you create your own subset of filters, like a couple of items for one station, only purchases, done on behalf of your corp, for example, and let you access it with choosing just that one filter.
- Expand the statistics a bit
- Display your current market orders. That would be more or less the same like your EVE market orders, but when you haven't access to EVE, that might be useful as well. One point I'm missing from EVE itself there is a sum of your sell orders. EVE tells you how much ISKs you have in escrow, but not how much ISK you would generated selling all your sell orders.
- Summarize journal data for a corporation by member. So you could tell how much money comes from a particular member.
- "Eye candy". Add some graphs (sell prices for an item over time etc.)
But I won't promise anything. You know, sometimes I really like to actually play EVE.

Vista 32bit.
I don't have a Vista installation available to test it on Vista, but two corp mates of me use it under Vista (one on 64 bit and on 32 bit) and they haven't reported any problems so far.
The application writes a log (I know, you can't access it through the app itself at this point). If you have access to MS Access (that's the database it uses), you might want to browse the database itself (stored in <All users>\Application Data\EVEWalletAware\DATA\). The log's table name is "tApplicationLog". It might give you and me a clue where exactly it fails.
BTW, you have used the full install package, right? Not just the single EXE download ...

Edited by: Astorothe on 22/07/2008 11:45:06 Yep I downloaded the Full Installation (which is 6.80MB Exe file called EVEWalletAwareFullInstall.exe).
I don't see any folders in the AppData for the program though - I've checked the places where this sort of thing normally goes and nada.
The database installs it'self here though:

For your to do list... Reports please, loads of em. Graphs if you must, but certainly reports. Perhaps then I can say goodbye to the excellent but somewhat buggy EMMA.
..and being real cheeky, in the walet transaction stats screen it would be groovy if a double click / right click could open the Item Details for the item in focus. I can see me running back and forth between these two screens a fair bit as it is now.

Looks good so far. I know Vista has a different folder layout than W2K/XP, but I'll retrieve those folders from Windows.
Does the message read

The truth is, I had that implemented once, but threw it out again, because it only worked in the non merged mode. The grid has the nasty habit of returning who knows what in merged mode when you right click a cell/row. There was no reliable way of figuring out the right item. So, in order to not confuse me and others, I removed that again. I certainly could reimplement it, with the above restriction.
As for "Redownload/Reinstallation cured startup failure": glad to hear it now works for you. Which also means it's not a bug in the app itself.

Bug report and request list:
OS: Vista x64
module: wallet transactions using Corp data
bug: when selecting a specific item filter (e.g. Morphite), the 'Date From' field changes to 12/30/1899 and does not keep any changes. I have to reboot to get it to reset to current date.
request: a qty total to go with the ISK total (i.e. sum of QTY column)
module: wallet journal using Corp data
bug: no data displays. I have made sure the date range is one year and still no joy. All the other selection criteria is set to '<All>'
BTW - Item Description module is FANTASTIC! Saves a lot of hand calculations for current margins and std deviations.
Well done

That is actually meant as a feature, though it should work of course. Background: The filter boxes provide you with all items (regions, customers ...) you ever dealt with. The date the transaction for the selected filter happened can of course be outside the current date range filter. Therefore EWA tries to find at least the last transaction date for the current filter setting, in order to display any data. Otherwise this would turn into a guessing game as to when the last transaction was. I recognized such a bug as you have described in my beta releases, but I had hoped I did fix it. That doesn't seem to be the case. The second bug you mentioned is related to this.
Anyway, I'll look into it.
Have you tried the button "Reset filter" in order to fix this behaviour?
Quote:

Good idea. I'll see if that's possible.

Thanks. But keep in mind that currently the transactions fees are not taken into account when calculating the margin(s). So, take that with a grain of salt.
BTW, if any of you spot some spelling errors are grammar catastrophes, please report those as well. English is not my native language and I'm darn sure some phrases/terms I've used can be improved.

McAfee is great for viruses. Not so great for the guy looking to steal the password to your RL bank account when you type it in, which he then sends back over the internet to himself. Since this app uses API keys and makes web service calls, you will have to tell your trusty personal firewall to let it go ahead and contact the outside world as well.
That said, the risk is usually generally low...I'm just a paranoid freak, who also doesn't trust that just because it doesn't do it today doesn't mean it won't click off a timer and do it three months from now.
I really prefer that home grown little tools people aren't making money off of like this just post their source...they also benefit that somebody might come along and send them a nifty bug fix or update so they don't have to do it themselves, the open source software community is healthy and vibrant and willing to help, and it allows paranoid people like me to download it as source and compile it seperately myself to be sure.
I'm a firm believer that nothing is free, and this game seems to bring about more scamming and such than RL...

You're absolutely right. That's why I offered to send the source to anybody who requests it. Vahluus did so and so I sent him the source code. You could do so as well.
As I've stated on the web site, the only reason the source code isn't available for public download, it's because it uses a commercial 3rd party grid control (ComponentOne VSFlxGrid). Without a developer license, VS might not load the project properly. And it won't of course compile. But looking at the source code itself would be possible. Hence, my offer.

well atm I can confirm that he's true to his word and has emailed me what at a glance appears to be the source code for this software.
will start poking through it soon, I haven't had a whole lot of experience with the language itself but as I'm sure you know, once you get the nack for reading code you can usually pick up anything suspicious in it anyway.

I guess, I've corrected those two issues. Each window uses the account/char currently selected. When switching accounts/chars while a window was open, it partly refreshed the data to reflect the changes, partly kept the old data. Each window now remembers the account/char it was opened with and works with those settings until it's closed.
As you can open multiple windows of the same type, you can do some comparison between different accounts/chars and/or personal/corp data this way. The titlebar of each window now also tells you with what settings it was opened.
