Edited by: Urm on 30/03/2008 17:04:00 Get off ur high horse! Ofc ppl deserve to be rewarded for their work, but at least have the balls to stand up and admit that is the reason the file was not uploaded on eve-files. Instead a warning ("Virus warning: Download EFT from this page only! Do not use other sites or links given you by people you don't know - files downloaded from unknown sources can be intentionally infected by harmful software.") is added to scare ppl into registering at pretty expensive dl sites, they will only use once and likely get recurring charges and on top of that will sell the email addresses to spammers.
If u are looking for ppl to donate for you hard work (which is well deserved btw), do it like this: http://www.pledgie.com/campaigns/396. Add a link (or even a popup) in the tool itself and I am sure ppl will donate. But to do it like this is trickery, misleading and will only get ppl upset.

I agree, the OP had no right in passing on the warning Chribba had sent regarding the fact there ARE virus infected versions of this software which had been uploaded onto Eve files.
It is quite shameful he spends this time developing a great bit of software gives it away free and then protects people from the stains on society that infect his work with viruses.

This post is not to tell Gripen what to do or not to do, but just to clairify the EVE-Files situtation. Of course Gripen choses what he feels suites him the best and should continue to do so in the future as well.
My guess is that Gripen has decided to not use EVE-Files any longer due to the fact that there are people uploading "EFT" to EVE-Files additional times - but with the added virus-infected EXE's. I myself has taken the policy to remove all EFT versions NOT LOCATED in Gripen's own folder to remove the possibility of false versions.
I also would like to enlighten that there have not been any security flaw in EVE-Files, Gripen's account is his own and his files, but upon for example searching for EFT you could get presented with one of the "newer" uploads. However by using supplied links in Gripen's post there would be no risk of encountering any wrongfully files - unless ofc it's by Gripen's own upload - which I highly doubt he ever would manipulate.
I look forward to Gripens future work, no matter where it is hosted and hope that he continues to develop his software as it is an amazing addition to our community. Keep up the great work Gripen!

Chribba, just curious, do You use any virus-checking on the files uploaded to Your host? I know that at least Dr.Web is able to scan for viruses in (even) nested archives.

Yes there is AV running, however there is a slight problem running it the way I want since I cannot have an AV running checking every file when it is accessed since there is a lot of requests every sec.
So what happends is that an uploaded file is saved onto a specific folder which is being monitored and then after a short time moved to its destination. There is a chance that an infected file can be moved out from that monitored folder before the AV has checked it and thus getting past the scan.

Gripen, your program is fantastic but I wish there was someway to organize implant and hardwire options a little better.
As is you can see some implant possibilities but to do this you have to navigate to a fitted item and right click to see what could modify it, given the wealth of LP implants and cosmos hardwires. While its functional it can be very cumbersome. Would it be possible to create a secondary implant subsection that groups implants by what they modify, i.e., s/m/l projos, capacitor, turret tracking, navigation etc? ___ Eve Players are not very smart. I think it can be resolved other way (I've used it for other purpose, but in similar situation). 1. User upload a file. 2. script checking that file is uploaded and giving the user a size and MD5 of the uploaded file. Also showing a message that file will be available for download after a short while. 3. Script, at the same time, moving the file to the temp folder and adding it to the list of checked files. 4. Different script starts by scheduler and run antivirus checking against every file. Antivirus must be able to save logfile and produce "Ok" on every checked file, or at least end with errorlevel if it found anything smelly and scary. 5. After each check, if nothing found, it moving checked file to the intended location to make it available for downloading.
That way, You 1. Ensure that EVERY file is passed through antivirus checking. 2. Do not slow down Your system by running AV monitor in the mode of checking archives/nested archives. -- Thanks CCP for cu<end of sig> |

about a week ago I noticed the Onyx shield resist is not matching up to whats in game.
EFT has EM 25%, TH 85%, KN 77.5%, EX 62.5%. in game EM 0%, TH 80%, KN 70%, EX 50%.
saw there was an update was hoping the resist were changed and its not. wasn't sure if you were aware of this and just bringing it to your attention.

Originally by: FAQ.txt Q: I found that sometimes when I change the skill responsible for the ship bonus nothing changes. A: Some ships require certain skills at level 5 and give bonuses based on such skills. In that case bonuses in EFT will always be like you have this skill at level 5 even if you don't have it at all. For example you can't fly any Heavy Assault Ship without having it's race cruiser skill at level 5 so the bonuses those ships get from their cruiser skills will be always like you have this skill at level 5.

Small bug...
Ingame Capital Energy Transfer Array I is recieving the cap use bonus from the Energy Emission Systems skill as well as from the Capital Energy Emission Systems skill. Eg. I have the capital one on level 2 and it's activation cost is 1620. In EFT2.5.2 only the capital skill bonus is applying.
Originally by: Gripen
Originally by: Mr Krosis The lock time function still seems to be returning bad values. It's pretty accurate for smaller targets, but for larger targets the lock time listed is faster than it should be. Targeting a battleship shows about 15-20% faster than it should. Any word on what formula you use to come up with those times?
I've answered you here. The formula came from the thread you've linked.
The most accurate lock time formula I know of is:
seconds = ((40000 / ScanRes) / (asinh(SigRadius) ^ 2))
Which I derived after testing the very long lock times on EW starbase mods (10mm scan res) before they got boosted back up. It also fits short lock times perfectly. _

I think i have a problem. I know this program is used at everyone's own risk but the problem is any version after 2.4 seems to display an incorrect cap recharge (+X.Y)for the Hulk. It basically just went up by 0.3. As a result one of my setups is shown cap-stable, but the cap runs dry after about 4 minutes (as displayed in version 2.4). Maybe that should be looked into again.
PS: I can provide both, the setup and v2.4 if you deleted/overwrote them yourself and the setup I'm having issues with, but it seems pretty obvious that v2.4 shows the more correct numbers in this case.

The reason for this is likely that module activation pushes your cap levels past the optimum recharge point, thus you don't get the full recharge as shown and your cap runs dry eventually.
Older EFT versions used a slightly more conservative number than the actual peak recharge, I believe to remember, so effects like these were compensated.

In other words: I have to cascade my mining lasers? Not that great actually but who knows how much ISK the proggy saved me from spending for testing pruposes - it had to reclaim some of it... Maybe a reminder that switching on all active modules at the same time will push your cap below peak reacharge values and that this may cause unforseen effects could be added. Just an idea.

It is a good idea, to let You know. barges have rather weak capacitor and stripminers do use alot of cap. Guess You must also improve Your cap skills, because I'm able to permarun 3 strips on Covetor even with early deactivations due to rocks beeing popped before cysle ends. Was never run out of cap in like 5 hours.

Wow, where were you when we were working on that thread? Look at all of the crazy formulas we came up with, and it looks like the simple ^2 was all we needed.
To clarify, the formula you mentioned appears to be the exact one the game uses, and matched all of my measured values exactly with millisecond accuracy. Use that formula Gripen.
