I would like to share my recent pain in trying to assemble a T2 rig from the numerous BPCs that I have acquired over the past few weeks. Just to give you some background information, I have been extensively exploring around the Sansha region of space and found at least 30+ Archeological sites (the ones that need an analyzer or salvager to open the cans).
I have found well over 20 T2 BPCs, of which I really want to build 1 or 2 at least. I got T2 BPCs (all 2 runs) for cap recharging, grid, capacitor capacity and armor hitpoints, amongst a number of useless BPCs (like CPU reduction for energy turrets! I really wonder who thought of that!).
Now to build those T2 rigs I need specific components that apparently ONLY drop from those sites, but at an unbelievable low drop rate, specifically for those energy related rigs I need (e.g. Capacitor Control Circuit 2):
5 Capacitor console 18 Power Circuits 20 Logic Circuits
Anyways, so over 20 BPCs, 1000s of salvage components (thank you very much, built plenty of T1 rigs) and how many of those T2 components do I have?
1 Capacitor Console 2 Power Circuits 1 Logic Circuit
So after 30+ sites I got roughly 10% of the materials to make ONE T2 rig, but BPCs to make at least 40 (remember, they are all 2 runs)! Ahh, buy them off the market you say? Well I have buy orders in Jita for the past 2 weeks and managed to buy 1 logic circuit and 1 capacitor circuit, and by the way, the price for the power circuit is already up to around 40 mil with virtually no availability (you can check market history, only a handful of components have been sold over the past weeks).
I think an increase in drop rate, similar to the salvage components, by at least 30 to 40 fold is in order (IĈm not kidding, from my experience, a 10 fold increase would mean that after 30+ sites I would have the components to build 1 T2 rig, which is hardly enough)
P.S. Also, while you at it, Arc Sal sites 3 and 4 drop considerably less components that 1 and 2 although they are harder to find (same goes for the Hack sites, but don't get me started on the drop rates over there).

You can get T2 components from T2 wrecks as well.

t2 parts are rare but to help you a bit here are the 3 sources:
a) Explorations b) T2 Player-Wrecks c) NPC faction-wrecks (domination, true sansha,...).

Nopp that last part is not true. I didn't get any T2 wreck components from the uber-rare Faction rats.

Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. I've had quite a few T2 rig components from domination spawns. They only seem to give one component per wreck though. --------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok follow instructions as listed below.
1. Skill lvl 5 Battlecruiser and proceed to lvl 1 command ship. 2. Buy one Command ship from market for 100M 3. Exit station 4. Warp to SS for low chance of theft. 5. Self-destruct 6. Use a ship with 8 high slots (8 x salvage rigs), use salvage tackler for optimal result. 7. Salvage the wreck with all salvagers. Having a high salvage skill is preferred. 8. Proceed from 2 till you have enough T2 wreck components. 9. Build your T2 rig. 10. Sell it on market for 3 Billion isks.
I hope devs read this to understand what a wonderful patch we have been given.

- AFAIK self destruct kills all rig components, too - number of salvages & salvage tackles does not increase the amount of stuff you get

That has yet to be proven. So to be on the safe side. Use as many salvage rigs on a wreck as possible.

Hmm, I see so I need to blow up T2 ships. but even if that's the case, why aren't there more parts for sale in Jita?
There must be hundreds of T2 ships blown up everyday, and at least some must be salvaged. If the drop rate would be good enough, shouldn't there be some for sale?
But hey, I'll try the blowing ships up after DT (don't have the skills on Sisi), let's see if thats any better.

i can confirm the faction ( dark bloods etc) do drop tech 2 rig components but heres a tid bit they occour more in low sec than 0.0.
So NPC faction ship drops by order of occourance ( im in a similar position to u)
low sec high sec 0.0 ( tho the t1 supply is much much higher)

Well I logged on Sisi and blew up 10 Damnations (cheapest T2 BC and since its Amarr should drop the relevant components);
10 Damnations yielded the following:
47 Artificial Neural Networks 19 Logic Circuits 6 Power Circuits
So all in all, after blowing up around 800 mill worth of T2 ships I got roughly 60% of the components need for 1 T2 Rig.
I also blew up a few T2 frigs and HACs, but their salvage ratio was extremely low (and lots of empty wrecks).
Also, the concept of having basically PvP engagements drop T2 components may sound novel but in practice is not really practical, since I doubt many PvP'ers will equip a salvager with their PvP ships.

A viable use finally found for T2 logistic cruisers? Salvaging material?^^ ------------------------------------------ Every ship has a base 60-70% resist against the primary damage type of the race that is the least able to vary it's damage types. |

This just proves how broken the current concept/rates are.
