I would like to be as constructive as possible in my criticism in this post as opposed to alot of what I have been reading in this thread so far.
Surely we by now know what issues at hand are to be addressed.
The question is how do we in the most effective way improve communication with CCP in order to get as much as possible cooperation with the player community to aid in the fixing of the very well known problems.
First and foremost would I very much like to be of assistance with testing on singularity. Yet due to the age of my account I am faced with a wrong password message when I try and log into the server.
I will post this in the ideas forum but I will start by suggesting it here.
It would GREATLY improve player contribution if CCP would make a testing account feature. This means that a testing account with maxed out skillpoints in all aspects allows for you to log in the test server and test out every possible feature of the game.
Not only would this feature make it very attractive to join the test server and try out things that would have never before been fully accessible, but it would in all aspects increase the activity (player amount) and the will for players to be a part of testing and fixing the many issues we would all like to see fixed.
Not only do I believe in CCP's ability to rise above the situation they have on their plate, I know and feel from the bottom of every cell of my existence that the playerbase (YOU) can be a part of it all.

Little late to the party, but I'm pretty sure everybody that knows anything about video games, now knows EVE is broken.
The article states its opinion that the core of the problem is twofold: a)Apparently CCP has never committed resources to CSM issues (This comes as no surprise whatsoever tbh) b)CCP has a huge communication gap with its playerbase (which is also no surprise to any of us following these threads)
What the article doesn't state is the amount of players who have been cancelling accounts. I counted 15 cancelled accounts on two pages of this single thread and in the main Zulu disaster thread I think there was an average of about 4 or 5 per page in the later pages.
This might amount to a few hundred in these threads alone, and it doesn't mirror all those who don't bother to post here (Scrapheap Challenge had a long thread with players unsubbing as well) and it seems to be almost a common thing amongst nullsec alliance players.
This doesn't only influence nullsec play but is compounded by the fact that most nullsec players have hisec alts to do trading etc.
I think the next Quarterly report is either going to omit the total number of active accounts due to the embarrassment that it would cause, or it will provide some very interesting statistics on player numbers and activity in the various regions. We'll see.
If CCP does start to censor statistics, then I'm pretty sure that that will be the end of Eve in the long term.

CCP Navigator's comment makes me worry about loging in, as certainly just logging in creates work for the server and increases ccp's efforts at maintaining the system, thereby breaking rule #17.
Do his giant granite balls chaffe when he walks?
I liked the idea of fighting in empire around trade hubs as they seem so much more stable with several hundred people in them than lowsec is now with only a hundred. Its not about trying to lag Rens, its about using Rens' inherently more stabe node to do what we were promised in ALL of CCP's trailers which show epic fleet battles.

Its ironic that so many people here (well, a few anyway) are voting for DICE because a few years ago when BF2 was released DICE was essentially in the same position CCP is in now; drunk on the sales success of BF2 they immediately launched into hyperactive development mode and pumped out a slurry of crap that utterly bombed while ignoring the enormous problems they'd created. Took them a few years but they managed to get their act together and are back on top.
Anyway, this thread is pretty ****ing hilarious.

I am playing EvE Online since 4 years now, and the lag is worse and worse since Quantum Rise. In fact, the game has nothing to see with the CCP's great videos boasting the ~massive & epic spacefleets fights~.
This simply calls "swindle" ...
EDIT: Wait I'll vote in 18 months, how about that?

Edited by: TheLordofAllandNothing on 02/08/2010 09:34:13 Apocrypha 1.5 was the best eve has ever been, then ccp took repeated dumps on the playerbase and told them to go **** themselves whilst they did stuff no one wanted them to do.
And thus they completely broke the game with horrific lag and have made null sec the worst state its been in for 7 years.

Is there a possibility that if it did indeed go down like this that maybe it wakes up the management to the serious (!!!) problems in eve at the moment... ----------------------------

Edited by: WaiKin Beldar on 02/08/2010 10:41:48 I'm not amazed but awed because of the open invitation to spank your ass (hard, I'd say) this thread has turned into, CCP.
Iirc someone said " You can lie to someone during a long time or you can lie to many people during some time but you can't lie to everybody for ever".
Far from being the best Online Game of the year I could give at least, a powerful dozen reasons why is becoming one of the worst, indeed. The funny thing is that you already know them by heart. Shame on you.
Call it addiction, stupidness or whatever you like it but a great part of the playerbase (mainly those of us who live in 0.0) have not cancelled their subs because we're still awaiting some sensible reaction from your side.In fact, we are awaiting that reaction since Dominion.
We'll see in 18 months if you deserve any award.
Till then,
yours sincerely.

Massively Article
Good article.
I'd like to say to CCP what I've said many times before. Add less new stuff and do more fixing and improving of what we already have. The unresolved lag problem is indeed weighing heavy on us but so are all the many weaknesses in game play. Things like knowing how far my ship can warp with the capacitor it has left or seeing text notification of the damage my drones do or providing an easy way to know the difference between a BPO and BPC or making it possible to select locked targets by keyboard shortcuts or to unlock a locked target with a keyboard shortcut or adding a 'trash can' to stations so things are not immediately destroyed when a player trashes them or providing corp and alliance community bookmarks for things like POSs or jump bridges... etc... etc... etc...

I started playing on Dominion.
My fist impressions have been:
- Phenomenal game. Complex, balanced. - A few too many bugs. - Irritating delays e.g. undocking
And with the release of Tyrannis, I've come to the conclusion that something's going a bit wrong with Eve Online, the focus needs to be on quality if this game is to survive. Once customers are gone, they're gone.
In short, I won't be voting. Eve Online probably is still the best game, but I won't be stroking CCP's growing ego this year! CCP DON'T LOSE YOUR EDGE!!!
