Originally by: CCP Zymurgist I just found the reason for all the lag in the system: it's thousands of people on one shard incessantly complaining about lag. All those messages have to be sent and received and it ads an ungodly amount of needless traffic through the pipe that would otherwise have gone to more useful things such as, top of my head here, placing a carrier on the grid in less time than it takes for the greater EVE community [oh, what boisterous venom is captured in that word] to erupt in a whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaambulance.
CCP have: - greatly enhanced the beauty of the gaming world - offered new ways to make ones own fortune - created a greater challenge in establishing dominion - made improvements in mineral yields for miners [true, more can be done] - continuously invested in better hardware which will translate in a better user experience - made it possible for more people to make tentative steps into the shadow world of zero-sec and take a peek at all the riches that can be had - continuously made improvements to the user interface [although it would be too kind to say that work is done] - created a user base that is as fiercely fanatical as it can be childishly impetuous [and not very strong in the spelling department] - been just about the only [that I am aware of] MMO that has created a system of persistent user representation through the CSM. It is not perfect, but no form of government is. - been nothing short of generous [100000 extra skill points -and- a free new spaceframe for -every- account] whenever it feared it had overly burdened its user base.
And all this with a flair for technological innovation and pizzaz that does not have an equal in the universe of online gaming on planet Earth today.

To say CCP is doing nothing to fix lag is not only ridiculous.. its malicious
I won't lie, this thread is a bag of ****.
Are you serious? You think Jita is what we are all upset about? Jita is fine because it is reinforced, like every other high-sec hub. And, a few patches ago, 0.0 was fine if it was reinforced (and before that, was generally fine if not reinforced). Now, reinforced or not, it is impossible to have a large fleet engagements like we used to. Leave hello-kitty playland and you'll find lag is a very different beast.

I wanted to say eet again cuz i felt it should be read multiple times on one page..
"I tried to vote, but first it said that there had been more than 200 votes cast already and locked up for half an hour before it loaded the page. Then I had to press the vote button about forty times before it registered, at which point it stopped responding and just kept trying to vote solidly for 45 minutes. Fortunately, none of them counted apparently, as I started bouncing back and forth between the poll page and the link that got me to it for about half an hour before my browser went black, my iPhone went on fire and I went to bed.
I complained that they'd not counted my vote for excellent space MMO Eve Online but they said that their records showed nothing and that it was my own fault for trying to vote in the same poll as more than thirty other people." 7 Years with 5 accounts - over.
I am becoming an alt and getting mothballed. CCP has lost the vision that made them rise above all the clones, clickfests, and grindmobiles and walked right back into that entire affair with the attrocity that is Planetary Frustration.
My 5 accounts are being collapsed down to two. This char will be an alt to an empire blueprint research drone with less than 2m SP... because there's no reason to continue my training.
Goodbye, cruel Eve. |

In 18 months maybe, as long as you refuse to fix the current issues and only focus on cheap (and most likely, unfinished) new features you won't get this vote.

CCP instead of needlessly adding features fix the current ones, such as I don't know Rockets? Still waiting for an upgrade option for my command centers.
Like I've said in the past many times why add features when the current ones can't be enjoyed because they're broken or incomplete.

Just want to start my post by saying, this lag isn't just in 0.0. ( And stating it isn't my net as I'm on fios, and my computer is by no means out of date. ) For the past two if not three days, I have been in high sec ( Around dodixie and aunia, etc. ) And having some of the same issues always complained about ( in o.o ), in that area. I'm told there is some war with Atlas going on, and it's comforting to know it can effect people no where near the area.
I've peeked into 0.0 a few times over the years, had great friends in null sec corps/alliances, and I have to say, I'm disappointed. I'm currently grinding my butt off to play eve and pay the next few months with isk ( financial issues ), but I'm finding it hard to continue. Aside from this account, there are others just in my household I am paying for, as well as one out of it, but as it stands, they will soon stop ( this time not for the financial reason. ) There IS an issue with eve, broken or not, or however it cares to be worded. For those of us grinding to get into 0.0 or wanting to go back, there is nothing but frustration and the thought of " well what's the point of all this work if I'm just going to be joining a lag fest? I'm certainly not playing eve to mine and mission in empire during my free time. "
The other accounts end subs next month, my main in September. I would give the default " see you in 18 months " comment, but there are games coming out I will be taking my money to. Sorry eve, but the years have been good.

Well - tbh thinking you deserve a award gave me a giggle, fix the customer support, fix the game,
these have been echo'd ever since ive been playing and yet new contet added, worked on and never followed through but the basics as always shover under the rug.
I remember a no' of years ago now i asked how much has been swept under the rug and was never answered (no suprises there) I think CCP forget that they have a core number of players that are still passionate although that core will keep on dwindling.
Ill alway remember a quote from CCP trying to say there is no lag (always made me laugh though) How can you expect me to say to other gamers how much better Eve is when tbh it isnt when you cant address petitions/concerns, mess up orders with the shop, bring out shiny worthless content, still ignore the basics of lag and failing to meet expectations that you yourself set us
no votes from me

I am sure many of us, including CCP employees have played many an MMO and watched them slowly die or implode suddenly. CCP in the past has avoided many of the common misteps other MMO's have made for one very large reason, in GENERAL, they have listened to the playerbase.
CCP, if you have ever watched other MMO's tank, you should see the warning signs here. Consider this thread the canary in the coal mine. You see this happen to all MMO's at some point, the entire vocal playerbase turning on you. Once this starts, its usually the sign of a MMO in serious trouble. Most times in the past SOE/UO etc the devs ignore the players, censor the forums, and keep on with their "vision". You probably know how that usually ends.
My 2 cents on how to fix this.
First, You really need to focus on bug fixing and stop churning out new features that everyone hates or are incomplete/don't work right. PI is a shining example of a totally crappy system. You REALLY had a guy on EVE TV trumpeting how he was a dev on that interface? REALLY? Could you have made PI suck any more than it does? You figured the best course of action to limit risk vs reward in a system was to make it a massive clickfest eh. Great game design there guys. Dont' even get me started on dust being the gating factor. This isn't a troll, I simply cannot fathom how anyone thought this was a good idea. People gave feedback in the test forum saying how much it sucked, but you did it anyway. Sov update, haha, You broke 0.0 warfare more than it already was. Again, I just can't see how you thought that system was gonna be a good one. WTG overpowering SC's also. Welcome to supercapital online in the form of SC's now instead of Titans. We could make a laundry list here of broken things but you get the idea. We dont' need more shinys, we need the stuff we have to be working/fun.
Second, and I know post T20 this is hard and all, but your Devs really need to play in 0.0 alliances or in another area that participates in large fleet warfare. Hey Stoffer, for the love of god, talk some sense into them. Would the real pvpers (at ccp) please stand up! You cannot fix what you don't understand, and it is pretty clear CCP does not understand fleet warfare. I heard recently someone had to demonstrate the firing in lag trick to them. That is plain sad.
Third, Use the CSM more effectively. You would think the complete breakdown in communication that was the most recent meeting might have been a warning sign. Here is why the CSM will always be smarter than you. Because it's not their baby. The CSM can see the ugly baby when it appears, you as people that work at CCP cannot because its your baby. Take it as constructive criticism and just work on the complaints. If you did that with even half the gusto you threw at all this new content you seem to think will suck in new players, you would never need to worry about an angry playerbase.

Just replying because for some reason I still have gametime on my account. I would never vote this game as being good anything, except for a good way to get frustrated. The mechanics are inherently frustrating, and the bug ridden final product of EVE Online is even worse. The only good free expansion this game ever had was Red Moon Rising. CCP really dropped the ball on EVE, and I don't foresee buying any of their other games. Ever. Cancelled my 3 accounts to stop funding the rotten shark foundation and am now paying for an online game where I can have fun without having to wait hours and hours.
Seriously, this game could have been golden. Bigass space fights could have been the basis. But instead, CCP decides to make the most expansive game world into an economic simulator bore-fest. Well played ccp, now I get to much through this thread and read how everyone sees your terribly implemented pitifully planned out game.
CCP's "logs show nothing" stance is a joke. Welp. Time to go play some more wow. Goblins in cataclysm are gonna be totally badass. Good riddance to this ****ty game.
