I'm just guessing, but missile spam was probably directed at the mom because the missiles may not even hit targets that were being popped fast by turrets.

Vargur is good but Machariel is better. It can tank level 4s without issue, is faster than the Vargur and does more DPS. The Vargur shield boost bonus is nice but not necessary to tank level 4 missions.

The fits posted above are pretty good but I would put a 1600mm plate on the Apoc, especially if you are flying with logistics pilots of unknown quality. You need a little more buffer on an armor ship since the repair comes at the end of the cycle ...

My advice is don't use the gallente command ships for incursions. Vindicator and to a lesser extent the navy mega are the only gallente ships I would use. Medium blaster range is just awful.
