I have a gallente char with strong drone and armor tanking skills. Right now he is at a point it would take the same time to train for Ishtar or Amarr Recons.
Reading these forums on how Amarr Recons are kinda FOTM (my other alt is 17 days from Falcon ) I would like to know opinions on which one would suit me better for pvp.

Low sec? 0.0? solo? gang? what kind of target do you have in mind, do you want a cloak, do you have somewhere to dock up?
cant really say which one is better until we know how you plan to use it. |

I love the Pilgrim actually. Never flown the Isthar. I use it for solo PvP in low sec tho, and use Merin Ryskin's "unconvetial" setup on it. Works like a charm. I also got a more standard neut setup that got a strong armor tank that I like in gangs.

I assume you're talking about training either Gallente or Amarr Cruiser 5.
Only an idiot would take Gal cruiser 5 over Amarr.
Amarr 5 gives you the Curse (aweomse) Pilgrim (hard mode but still awesome) Zealot (LOLOMFGawesome) Sacrilege (awesome if you like missiles) Guardian (awesome if you like healing people) Absolution (fully awesome) and Damnation (awesome for gang types).
Gallente 5 gives you the Deimost (lol) Ishtar (meh) Lachesis (lol) Arazu (lol) Oneiros (alright i guess) Asstarte (juries out on this one) and the Eos (OMFGWTFISTHATFAILLOL).
There really is nothing to think about. |

Pilgrim needs recon 5 or it's a bastard to fit.
Ishtar is good for ratting as well as pvp. |

Well being honest the amarr recons effectiveness diminishes the larger the gang size while the ishtar is lethal in pretty much any situation it gets into and usually won't be primaried either i.e. for defence groups the ishtar > curse (primary) or pilgrim. However the zealot is the best cruiser size fire support in game, which is also something to consider.
Problem is the deimos still sucks, mostly because it never got the rep bonus every other blaster ship has, and since the damp ships never got their ship bonus they suck too, although are still reasonably effective since most ships are slower.
It's the ishtar and semi decent recons against two good hacs and two good recons (logistics are resonably balanced) or simply, horribly neglected racial line against newly balanced line. |

Curse vs. Ishtar?
Well both. . .
As far as FOTM recons - Falcons are it - Curse is very rewarding to the smart player - and TDs are really unver-appriciated, which is really good for those who use it. |

well, if the person likes drones, then they wouldn't be stupid for training Gal cruiser V. Ishtar is the only T2 drone boat. you're right about the rest though. Blaster boats were nerfed, so Astarte is iffy...but some prefer it over the mega.
it's simple. if youre not into drones, go for the amarr cruisers. |

Unconventional yes. A good fit no. Sorry to rain on your parade but this is among the worst pilgrim setups ive ever seen. If you want to blow a 100mil send it my way.
It tanks about 50 dps according to EFT and does 400 dps give or take. The ability to do 200+ dps with drones and kill your enemy's cap FAR out weighs the ability to deal this kind of damage, which a dual rep zealot or sacrilege can easily tank while they gank the crap out of you.
I appreciate your trying to be creative, but this ship is a double decker sandwich of fail. Please fly it to A-1con, I will 1v1 you in my pilgrim, which actually has resistances, nueting ability, ewar and a huge buffer of armor hp. This fit makes me want to slap someone. :)

Edited by: fuxinos on 17/01/2009 08:00:18 That Pilgrim setup is probably the worst ive ever seen lol.
Anyway, Pilgrim is a good soloship, but for gangs take the Curse. Pilgrim lacks the Neutrange bonus, that makes it somewhat useless for gangs.
Curse is also very good for solowork, something like nano was before. You just cant get it tackled if the pilot has a good setup. |

only dedicated T2 drone boat. the above can't use ogre II's and garde II's. and for that reason they cant rely on just drones for serious dps. sure u got ewar...but u cant really compare the dps between curse and ishtar.
