Nice patch and all...one thing I've noticed though with both classic and premium is that I can no longer force a refresh of the overview. This is a really annoying problem when you get 1 or 2 ships stuck there after a few jumps...
Let's put the Laughter back into Manslaughter....

Kudos on Trinity, CCP. I love the way things look. Top notch. The boot thing was silly but it doesn't detract away from a very nice job done on this release.

I won't get started on the boot.ini issue Though appearently my ATI Radeon 9600 Atlantis 256mb can't handle the shading effects, at least Eve tells me I can't use the premium graphics On top of that the whole user interface has gotten damned laggy, moving windows is laggy, clicking stuff is laggy, everything is laggy...I don't like laggy games at all...
Then there is the modules adjustment...which just screwed any non-compression relations for modules...
Lots of tiny bugs I can't even be bothered to count... *sigh*
I'm not happy at all so far...probably cause I don't even get the blingbling graphics to compensate for all the lag and bugs

Well I kind of have mixed feelings about trinity.
On the one hand, the new graphics are nice and the game runs much better.
On the other, the graphics just are not as good as I was expecting from the trailers and pre-release screenshots. I know why it's not as good and I'm fine with it, just a little disapointed.
Overall though, it's great and I'm well pleased

It's probably your video card drivers, like i mentioned in the other thread about your Alt+Enter issue. Personally, my fps went up.
These are all latest available drivers (for video - latest available Detonator). My PC is not THAT old (But yes, it's somewhat aged) --sig--

My opinion on the update... Very nice new graphics, I really liked the graphs.
I do have a few comments though. At first i think the recons(amarr and gallente) are hit very hard by the new nerf. The meaning of an ewar ship is ewar so why nerf the role? I really think they should increase the bonusses for the nerfed recons. I can imagine you nerf it on not ewar ships though. Also I don't like the screens and not be able to disable screens i don't use. My whole screen is filled with screens now. But maybe i will have to figure out how to best place em. Also i noticed that when i undock the game hangs for a bit.. Anyone else sees this?

I like the graphics that came out, it's really gr8 and drones are a lot better now cuz they don't go just shoot every rat and make them all target me in missions.
But I also hate what happend to strip miners visual. It's just... ugh... don't wanna say it...

this is lame that our cargo holds not grow but the amount of crap we must fit in it does. first of all i rather not have the new addition of making ew stuff have charges but if it stays how about larger cargo holds because its hard enough to fit you cap charges missiles and gun charges you should already be full but now theres no room to pick up loot but now we get more charges??? or how about making cap charges quarter the size they are now that would work as well. still does not negate the head ache of charging your ew mods making it so you spend less time in space more time buying charges because who knows how long a full cargo hold of cap and ew and ammo will last and if 1 goes out first then you hope your still not in the mix.

Not sure if this is the place to ask this question but is there any way i can go back to using the old / classic fleet overview ? i really hate the new one as it takes up way to much space on my screen and its a bit tricky moving windows all over the place so i can see everything. |

what the hell are you talking about?
scripts take up no space, and you only need 1 MAX 2 (one of each type) permodule. its not like they are consumed.

come on art team you are really good at making a turd look like a shiny turd... what i mean is minmitar and caldari have some of the ugliest ships and not feasable to fly. like the black hawk, it has a frame that would not stand much damage in the middle were it could break clean in half and is the ship flying bacward. how about the cyclone, still looks like a puffer fish. i been playing 2 years and grown to ignore how ugly some ships are untill i look at my hurricain. if you cant perdy up the darn ship how about you make the hurricain a bit uglier so it fits.

the new missions treat you like a newb with all the how to instructions... how about you remove that mess and place more pertanet info like class of ship limitations or indicate some more info other than newb stuff thats what tutorial missions are for

the whole fleet/gang thing has gotten confusing lately why can you begin by making a gang like we used to then create a fleet... now that we creat fleet first and then you go to warp your party and it say to warp gang and im like...... not happy with it the old way rocked.
i like how you can remove gange or drone but you should be able to lock them if you like so if i enlarge or shrink overview anything attached should as well i kinda miss the larger buttons above overview now they so small you have to focus on the buttons but yet you make the overview wider... i like a thin overview

Well, I can only comment on the cegeda client... so expect lyrical waxing about the new textures/models in Q1 2008 (or whenever Wine fixes the bug).
Like the black theme and transparencies, until their is lots of action on screen the thing seems to keep up nicely. Missle spam swarms really cause lag. Although heavy lag could be due to number of people going "shiny".
Don't like the batch updating of the wallet with rat bounties. The 2s ROF on drones is kinda funny to watch, rat wanders.... wanders more... pop. I'm sure it'll loose the giggle generating factor but at the mo' I like it :)
I'm also liking the overhaul to the lighting system, perhaps not as WOW as Premium but still very good.

It plainly looks like new content created to be sure we'll go to market and buy new PC's, but it is false idea.
I'd better trow away EVE and return to Lineage2. It have 3D engine with better FPS, than EVE, on wide variety of systems. From bottom to top of all ranks.
Not sure what happened to you but my FPS doubled. Using a 7600 GT I was getting about 30-32 FPS BEFORE the GFX upgrade...Now I get about 60-65 FPS. YMMV
Try a new driver maybe it will improve.

I dont know if anyone mentioned it yet but why has the Nightmare been nerfed? Now it only got 6 highslots with 4 gun hardpoints, before it could fit 4 guns and 4 launchers. Now it got 7 mid- and 5 low- slots instead of 4 and 8. What is the reason behind this and why isnt it mentioned in the patch notes(as far as i see)?

So it is mentioned, and it's part of a shift of all the Sansha ships towards being pure laser boats. Your 4 guns with 100% damage bonus are equivalent to having 8 guns, and you get 2 spare high slots for something else on top. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

New strip miner effects look awful. They look broken and are far inferior to the old ones. The blue colour could look nice but as they stand now i cant tell if they're just broken or have been "improved" for the worse.
The sound they make also sounds glitchy and broken.

I do not understand the need for the torpedo changes. I don't remember seeing anybody complain about them being too powerfull or anything like that. I know it will make mission running more difficult due to some rats running from you and staying 40-50 km from you. This will cause looting/salvaging to take more time because of having to chase the rats down, spreading out the wrecks. Same with ratting. Also, the fact that even though ships are out of torp range, there are still explosions visable, that makes me think they are hitting my targets, but not dealing any damage. This caused me to submit a bug report that I was not caausing any damage with torps. I'm hoping the Devs will read this and give me some idea as to the reasons for the reduction in flight time on these.

Trinity requires me to purchase an expensivevideo card
My old (4 years old) Dell laptop uses an 128 mb ATI card. It has worked well for me with various online games such as WOW, EQ2, BF 2, BF 2142, etc. I know I always had to tweak the settings to min, but I accepted that. Anyway my question/problem is that after the upgrade I get the message that the ępremium package will not work with my computerĘ. Anyway I can get around this?
I am saving up for a desktop PC, but for now I just have the laptop. If there is a way to get trinity working fine, if not then thank you anyway. I will deal with the classic version until I can afford another pc. Note: The classic version with the updated patch still works.

Try disabling Extreme shadows or HDR.
With either on I get 20FPS. With both off I get a stable 60FPS (capped via v-sync). Support fixing the EVE UI | Suggest Jita fixes If you'd suicide gank yourself for what you're hauling, don't.

I could go on... but I'll just tell you why i'm so pleased, since you created a thread for it:
First of all - my Hurricane looks awesome. It used to be a shovel, now it is a glistening knife of death.
I can now look at my Typhoon without being sick. In fact it's lovely!
But most important of all - Gallente ships! I'm tempted to train for them now, and am baffled by all the derision they're getting. They are tough-looking, graceful boats (yes, despite the colour - I thought the old colour scheme was ugly), and now they no longer look like cartoon or balloon animals... well done.
I'll probably get flamed for this, and I don't care - because no matter what one says on a public forum it will attract vocal vermin of one kind or another, but I think some people need to read this:
Yesterday I thought CCP had removed bounties, as did many others, because of the new payment scheme. So what did I do?
I trained salvaging, and set up a salvaging ship, and went off salvaging my missions. Then I realised, and parked it back in the hangar.
My point is this: No matter what you do, people will whinge because they feel they have the right to dictate to you, as customers. This is a misguided mindset - all they can do is quit, which doesn't affect you because by failing to succumb you will attract more customers (your game will be better).
When I thought bounties had gone, I thought "B*****ds!". But then went about manipulating circumstance to my benefit, which is what the whole game's about! I wish peole could see that a nerf to you is ALSO a nerf to your enemy. It really sickens me to see all the smack on this forum, because it doesn't represent what has been achieved.
All it represents is the stubbornness and lack of wit of the players who now have to make minor alterations to their strategies, when what has been achieved is remarkable.
Even on the lowest settings (computer a little out of date) it looks stunning. The whole galaxy is much more compelling, rich, and intriguing. I can't quite explain it - Eve is just nicer to look at, and spend time in, than before...
Glad I don't have to salvage, but I'm prepared to do it if I need to. To cut a long story short: Don't like something? Adapt.

TBH I question the wisdom of nerfing things at all when you could make things better to effect balance instead. . . eg the nerf of torps and drone bandwidth (specifically the Myrmidon, which is now underpowered as a BC) all this means is missions and ratting are more "fiddly" and time consuming for Myrm' and torp users. The Arm scripts are a bad idea for all the reasons already stated, reading the list of Nerfs people have cited in this thread I now view this as a spoilsport patch. . .and if i had my boot.ini file deleted like some have I'd have been WELL ****ed.
Restore torps and give the Myrm back at least one of it's heavy drones. . .it's a DRONE BOAT!! Thats why it has one less highslot. . .and remember games are meant to be FUN stop making them LESS fun. . .give all the whingers BETTER ships and mods don't NERF the good aspects of your creation CCP!!
I'm not one of those who would sacrifice playability for graphics so this patch aint for me, having said that I hope the majority of players enjoy the game as it now is.
P.S I don't need a special command to abandon my drones, I manage to do that often enough :P |

THANKS! The graphics are great but I have a question, what happened to the variety of station interiors. I am completely missing the environment in gallente stations with all of the activity and the city-like atmosphere. Anyways, small complaint there. I notice so far that the client itself runs a ton smoother, and the graphics effects are running at high FPS with only a BFG GeForce7800GS OC AGP, AWESOME!
