Ok this is a brief write up of a (new?) mission I got today.
Its a 3 part mission that I got from a level 4 courier agent.
Part 1:
You are asked to scout a possible trade route to see if its held by pirates or safe to establish a trade route through. You warp to a gate and then jump in. There are a couple of BS and BC in the first room as well as a gate which is 25km away from jump in point. You DO NOT have to kill anything for this mission to complete so just head straight for the gate.
When you jump through the gate you end up in a room with a few BS and BC but again you dont have to kill them. A couple of seconds after coming out of warp you get a mission complete message and you just need to go back to your agent and complete the mission.
Part 2:
Again you need to scout another route. This time you need to check a loacked gate to see if the miners controlling it will let you through. You warp to a gate and jump in. No ships present when you first enter the room but you do get a message saying stay away or else. The locked gate is not on the overview so you need to find it in space and approach it. It is about 70km from the warp in point.
When you get to about 10km from the gate some BS, BC, frigs and sentry guns appear. At this point you get the mission complete message and you can complete the mission. You do not have to kill anything to finish the mission.
Part 3:
Again you need to scout a possible route. As I had done part 1 and 2 in a shuttle i decided to try it in this mission. Let me tell you now you will need a BS or very heavily tanked BC to do this mission! You dont have to kill anything so no need for guns. You warp to a Toxic Enviroment Zone with a gate at 60km from you. You need to get to that gate ASAP.
Whilst you are approaching the gate you will get a message saying that a wave Toxic gas, debris and radiation slams in to your ship. These waves have 4 blasts, 1 for each resist. They hit for around 200 per blast, so 800 in total and are around 15 seconds apart. If you can survive those blasts and make it to the gate then you will get a message saying that your computer has detected a large wave heading straight for you. This final wave hits VERY hard. It did 800 in all four areas to my 80% resist astarte! Once you have warped out of the zone you arrive at an empty pocket and you get the messgae saying the mission has been completed.
Simply warp back to your agent and your done.
The reward for part 3 does not justify the difficulty (I lost a shuttle and a taranis which both insta popped)
Anyway hope this is a helpful write up for those who get this mission for the first time.
Cheers

passey - mine could - just finished it, killed everything, jamming is a pain but that's what drones are for
11.6M in bounties/bonus and really sh***y Guristas loot (part 1). Other 2 parts will have to wait until this standings stuff gets sorted out.

Michael: What are trigger ships? Or do you just get a new spawn every time you kill anything? I popped 2x BS + 3x BC, but by then the lag (must be a war or something in Frarn atm, it's packed way more than normal) was unbearable, so I left. I had a Drake ganged with me and they were shooting BC's and stuff, not sure exactly what they killed (if anything at all).

For the last part of recon, use a passive tank drake and just slowboat your way over to the gate

I did the level 4 version in a megathron with an afterburner. All my mids and lows where shield extenders and plates. Started with about 15k shield and 50k armor. From the logs it showed I took 28k of damage while slowboating.

For the first part: shuttle.
Second part: I used a shuttle, reached the gate, tried to activate it, and warped out in my pod. Next time I'll use something a bit faster, can't guarantee the shuttle will get there in time.
I used my Apoc for the last part.
Mid: 100MN AB II Low: LAR II, Kin Hardener II, Exp Hardener II, Therm Hardener II, IFF I, 2 x EANM II
Pretty much my standard Apoc setup. Just switch it all on and head for the gate... the damage just tickles a bit, although that last pulse is more of a hefty nudge
TBH with good resistances and repper running you don't even need the AB. It's a long way to go without it though.

For those running the mission from the level 2 agent, the third part of the mission had no shock waves. Just went there and right through to the gate.

I've now done the lvl 2 version twice, and had waves in both missions.
The small waves start at about 60 points on my Drake, and eventually ramp up to about 160 pts. total damage less than 2000 with drakes passive regen. Final wave is 833ish.

Did the first two missions in this sequence today (the Guristas variant).
Initially, I didn't try to do the first mission in a shuttle. I decided to be greedy and go in with my CNR and kill everything. Mistake.
It was easy until the second spawn appeared (is it triggered by killing something? by a timer? I dunno). The combined DPS of the Guristas spawns is something fierce, and I was permajammed to the point that I had to warp out. I was lucky that I wasn't scrambled. First time I've had to warp out of a mission in a very long time.
Checked the forums, went back in my shuttle. I can say that, once the second Gurista spawn is present, it is impossible to reach the gate with a shuttle before it pops.
I pondered this a bit at the station and waited for the NPCs to revert back to their more distant starting points. After a little while, I went back in my Buzzard, cloaking as I was inbound from the starting gate.
It was easy enough to reach the second gate cloaked, but I was waiting with my finger on the "activate gate" button the whole way. There are no structures between you and the gate, the NPCs are at least 11 km distant with none in your path, and it is easy to get to the gate provided that you are on the ball to warp once you get there (because the cloak will deactivate and the entire room will try to target you, causing the game to freeze).
I got to the second room, the journal icon started blinking (mission accomplished!), and I warped out. Good thing. There is a cloud in the second room that prevents you from cloaking, so you are immediately exposed to the rats there if you stay.
Did the second room in a shuttle with no problem.
Haven't tried 3 of 3 yet. |

Did the Angel version at the weekend. Insta aggro for me on warp in from the inital bunch of npc's. Subsequent spawns aggroed as they spawned, got a bit hairy for a while with the lag.
Second mission was much simpler as the npc's and turrets didn't spawn until I'd got close to the locked gated, and at that point I got the "mission complete" acknowledgment anyway.
Third mission threw me at first as my shield seemed to be dropping way too much for the announced damage sustained. After a while it occurred to me to check the logs - sure enough there were 4 messages simultaneuosly each time a wave hit (presumably one for each damage type?) so where the damage message read, say, 780, there were 3 other messages of similar magnitude that I hadn't clocked
Nice to see some new missions anyway

L4 Part 1 can be fun for a group.
We had a maelstrom main tanking with a pet basilisk for support, a raven and a thorax (helping corp mates build up standings :)
Yes a bit overkill (and have to watch respawn agro) but was a nice change and the logistics pilot got to play healbot ;)
Part 3 I've done twice solo, once in a tempest with AB and second time in a maelstrom without AB. Wasn't difficult at all, just takes a bit of time without ab. There are a limited number of radiation waves and I was getting hit for 450-700 a time till they stopped but nothing the tank couldn't handle.

If this is a preview of the kind of new missions they'll be adding, I can't wait. I had an absolute blast doing this one "cold" without any previous knowledge (save some dire warnings from a pessimistic corp mate to skip it).
I completed the L4 version in my usual T2 Pulse Laser equipped Abaddon, solo. It was rough, but doable. The first part was against Sanshas. Against Angels or Gurista I'm not sure I could've finished it alone. Of course with all those bounties flying around I took the hard route and blasted everything, but it could have been done much easier.
The third part with the toxic, radioactive cloud was scary, but running high resists made it fairly easy actually. The only wave that hurt was the final one, the other damage waves were under a single repper cycle, and I usually run two reppers so I had no real worries. ---------- The right to do something doesn't make doing it right. |

I did the Guristas one in my Passive tanked Domi.
My mistake was a similar one, I decided to let all the spawns pop up and kill them.
There were 4 spawns of Guristas, eventually pitting me versus a whole pile of bad nasties. The damage output was just high enough that my tank was failing. My primary mistake was spending all my time killing the Dire Pithum tackler ships while more and more battleships spawned. I should have killed the damn ECM Jammer ships, the Dire Pithum Murderers. Once those things spawned I couldn't target anything. I think the tacklers don't actually scramble, because in the 5 or so attempts I made, I never was warp scrambled.
Ultimately what made the mission more or less impossible was the ECM jamming. When I warped in, I knew I'd have about 45 seconds before my tank would fail. I was desperate to kill the last two tacklers as I assumed I'd just been getting lucky not being warp scrambled and was expecting at any moment to find myself locked down and doomed. I would warp in and as I'm trying to lock the tacklers, I'd be ECM jammed. Every friggin' time! And since it takes me just about 20 or so seconds to lock one of the Guristas tacklers (Signature Analysis V), even if they missed a jam cycle, I'd find myself jammed moments before I locked the frig on the next cycle. I knew I couldn't make it to the gate before having to warp out in my Domi, and I've got 46m sp, with maxed engineering skills and 8m in drones. Needless to say I was a tad bit irritated.
I figured I could try running the gauntlet in a fast frig, and gave it a shot with a Condor and a MWD, but as I zoomed towards the gate the NPCs locked me and threw a line of missiles behind me. I got to the gate and as I was pulling down the menu to activate, I was hit by a barrage that put me into a pod.
I said screw it at that point. I could probably have gotten my Ceptor through there but at that point I was pretty fed up.

I went ahead and did 3 of 3 this afternoon. With a CNR mounting an XL T2 booster, SBA, 2 x Invuln 2, 1 x EM2, and 1 x therm 2 (about ~70% across the board resists), with 3 x PDU2s and 2 x generic T1 overdrives in the lows (wanted to leave the cap for the booster, so no AB), I had no problems at all. I kept running the booster after each hit and expecting it to get worse, but I probably didn't need to activate it at all. Smooth sailing the whole way.
I don't know what triggers the aggro of the entire first room in 1 of 3 or what triggers the additional spawns. Drones might be the culprit, as I ran out my Hornet 2s to kill the Gurista frigs in case they scrambled. Alternatively, it might be caused by attacking the frigates themselves or it might just be a matter of a timer based on when you warp into the room. The message spam in the chat window from when they warped in wasn't terribly enlightening one way or the other.

1st and 2nd stage I just raced through with my Malediction (interceptor). They did shoot heavy missiles at me, but due to the speed then I took no damage at all.
The 3rd stage was not so bad as it sounds. I used my Abaddon. 1 Large repper, 1 DCU, 2 EAN, explosive hardner and kinetic hardner. Flew in and pushed my AB button. The small hits dosen't occur often and they are easily repaired between the waves. The huge hit took about 20% of my total armor and after that new waves didn't happen for quite a while. I can't tell the duration between the next new waves as I was already at the gate by then.
3rd stage looks awesome. I've seen pictures of the enviroment in exploration areas, but never in a mission. There's like huge "tornadoes" in the background, so relax and enjoy the ride while gazing upon the area ^^ --- Member of the Danish Evefan.DK corp |

At
you cant use a MWD in that mission its the easiest mission out there if you just fly to the gate when you warp in the first time. But i made that mistake at my first recon too, but i did it in a condor after 3 tests that popped my ships, but i completed it.

I've done the level 2 variety of Recon quite a few times now since it was added. I enjoy the mission quite a bit. Easy if you want a quick 3 missions, and pretty nice if you want to take your time for salvage and loot. I solely use a Harpy for this mission (and all my other level 2s)
Part 1 - Easy to just fly to the gate if you want. I just kick in my afterburner and don't even have to use my shield booster. Looks like the extra spawns are timed and not triggered. First time I got the mission it was Serpentis and I had to warp out and couldn't keep up with the spawns in the first deadspace pocket or the second. My later Recon missions have all been Angels (moved regions) and I managed to outdps the triggered spawns in the first pocket but still had to warp out during the second. You'll end up with a lot of cruisers in the second pocket, but I never got jammed and went back and cleaned up the mess. Again its not required to kill all this stuff, but you can rack up some nice bounties/loot/salvage if you can handle it.
Part 2 - I only killed all the adds once. When everything first spawns on you when you approach the gate, I'd suggest killing off the gun sentries and warp out and come back. If you leave the gun sentries up and warp out, you'll get hammered from 100k away as they're 425mm railgun sentries. After that you're left with 2 missile batteries (only one will be in range when you warp back) and a bunch of merc ships. Frankly I didn't really find it worth the effort since loot was meh at best and salvaging mission generics more often than not leaves you with tons of metal scraps.
Part 3 - Easy in the Harpy. Didn't come anywhere close to getting destroyed. Had a Gistii-A type afterburner and emergency overload small shield booster. The radiation/toxic hits are every 30 seconds on the dot, I was easily able to shield boost my damage back in between then. Can't imagine doing this with a shuttle or no shield booster at all. Looks like the damage is scaled based on your ship size since I was only taking 40 damage early on and 100 near the second jump gate.

Unfortunately, no. The gate in 1 of 3 is locked to capsules, at least it is in the L4 mission.
