I can not see them on Josh's map, Dianabolic. Time to tell Josh that FIX are a sovereign entity and hold their own space?

"I can not see them on Josh's map, Dianabolic. Time to tell Josh that FIX are a sovereign entity and hold their own space?"
It is up to entity in question to state their intention to be placed on the map, in the relevant thread.
I don't quite see the problem, it's not uncommon in EVE to *not* claim ownership on the map... Goons and RA come to mind here, by the logic of this thread it would make the Goons "pets" and "slaves" of RA, and yet they are perceived and treated as entity in their own right and there's no threads made to mock them for it. Go figure? o.(

RA is on the map though, lets just say the diplomacy map is sometimes very slow, and sometimes very fast to be updated Pets and slaves have always been around imho, some people fight and some people dont, even withing a corp or alliance. It only made the news recently since BoB used slaves very effectively as a buffer while taking over ASCN space. Making it a military tactic which people will wanna imitate.

Aye, sorry if i wasn't too clear... i meant the systems which have in-game sovereignty by Goons aren't actually claimed by them as their own in the map thread, they are marked as RA systems for variety of reasons. Much like Fix-owned systems aren't claimed as their own in the same map thread, and marked as BoB systems ^^;;

Signed, aslong as ppl are playing how they want & enjoying it what does it matter if mr A agrees with mr B's way of doing things or not, if we all wanted things to go the same way, & did things the same way... EvE would be a pretty frickin boring place, certainly not worth paying ú10 a month for, I meen who would ya frickin shoot, oh yea those roid thingys n NPC's. A mod should defo lock this thread! Yeah it would probably make updating the map impossible, especially if a entity claims only one outpost and a few of the surrounding systems. It's voluntary work so we should be glad he is willing to keep track at all.

I disagree. You were a bob puppet in EC-P8R. A poor decision in the long run. I remember thinking, "Why would they help bob kill G? Shouldn't they be helping G kill Bob?"
Perhaps a lesson for other BoB pets.

Yep. One thing that people forget with all these "Map Maker L0L" threads is that people have no value for what is done for free.
There is a queue of critics, but they dont have the leadership skills or motivation to do it themselves. If they had any shame, then they would have commited virtual seppgeku by now. --

I touched a nerve I see.
Point is that its hard to break an alliance that doesn't have a backbone. Surviving as an alliance is not necessarily proof of strength, it can just as easily be proof of a lack of inner fortitude to stand up for yourself.
But a large alliance, like for example Xelas, still needing protection from a landlord is in my opinion different from MC.
Wasn't it only a month ago that your 4000+ man alliance (as well as Celes) tried to take a single station from Xelas, and they took it back without BoB assistance?
Apologies.. I seem to have omitted ASCN from the list of alliances that Xelas have engaged and outlasted, thanks for the reminder.

Edited by: welsh wizard on 30/01/2007 19:32:10 They took it back because ASCN had to leave and because Celes couldn't field a US presence.
If determined enough Celes would have held it without question until your lot showed up.
You think Xelas pulled off some stunning fleet victories and strategic masterplan to take it back? They didn't, they just shot it when there was about 10 people online to counter them.
So, I guess when it comes down to it you are right, Xelas did take the outpost back, deservedly? Hardly.
Still, its theirs now and remains a testament to their hard work building it in the first place. I wish them the best of luck and recognise most of them as friends.

"Slave" and "pet" are generally reserved for corps/alliances that are forced to pay for their space. RISE, I believe, may be moving into that kind of agreement with BoB if I am not mistaken. These terms are also used, by people who don't like an alliance, to describe any alliance that is allied with a stronger one. For example, Goonfleet are RA slaves/pets, IAC are AAA slaves/pets, FIX are BoB slaves/pets, IRON are D2 slaves/pets, BoB are CCP slaves/pets, etc.
I thought slave = paying and pet = not.
What we're really looking at ingame though is a creation of a feudal system, so I think the term "vassal" is most appropriate.
vassal is not derogatory enough for some people though, so they have to re-define slavery as being something people freely choose to enter into ......

"Vassal" isn't even accurate, the correct word would be "tenant." Vassals have no right to leave the land they are bound to. Unless I am very much mistaken, any of the entities exploiting BoB space can pack up and go any time they so desire.

I feel tender about leaders of nations in real life warping a definition to suit their own agendas and to create emnity towards a people they plan to attack.

Vassal = paying, Tenant = not, maybe?
Vassal typically means that some good or service is provided. Could be isk, could be military, or could just be maintenance of space. In addition to the obvious payment of isk, I would say that any time alliance B's standings are determined by alliance A, B is a vassal of A. This would cover most if not all situations, such as the relationship of many small northern alliances to d2, and the old relationship of goon to red (I say old because I'm not sure how independent goon are atm. They were certainly vassals at some point in the past.).

Edited by: Joshua Foiritain on 30/01/2007 23:45:33 I still don't really understand why people get all worked up over Bob's guest program. (Or slave program if you will). Eve has 42 regions an alliance can populate, 36 if you only count the ones with resources worth harvesting. Bob owns 7 of those, some of which are even considered the best regions in eve to carebear in and its about 20% of all available space. They offer alliances and corps which couldn't possible compete over a useful region with +200 battleship alliance Blobs a place to live/mine/pvp/etc. I judging by the alliance tickers the people complain seem to be mostly alliances that where defeated by bob and empire corps. I guess both have a good reason to be bitter.
Originally by: MDK II I'm interested in being required to donate 2 outpost eggs and paying 6bil per month to be a "guest" somwhere in Eve. Anyone have any ideas? See i'm keen on being bent over and given a good rogering.
You're wrong actually. You really should get out of empire more often, you sound grumpy. -----

If you go back to the thread's from yonder on the subject, i believe it was ascn who approached bob with the intel of the shipyard's and such and wanted our assistance to cane them. Not exactly a bad thing seeing as g had previously tried ( and failed ) to take ascn out.
