Edited by: adfnr on 06/12/2006 11:23:44 This makes sense so much, I'm wondering if I'm not reposting this, but ok...
A button to switch ALL your ammo/missiles/etc.
Right now if you have, say, lead charges fitted and want to change them to antimatter. In the current situation you have to right click your turret -> select ammo, right click, select ammo, right click,.. until you've had all your turrets. This takes away precious time during combat.
How about a small context menu "Change ALL ammunition" -> "Antimatter Charge M (3409)", "Lead Charge M (3241), "Thorium Charge M (223)"...
I say: keep the existing system and add one extra item in the right click menu. How does it sound?

I agree theres a need for this , a lot of things in Eve are too many clicks.
a lot of ships have mixed weapon types. I would prefer to have the ability to store an ammunition setup, much like it is possible to store the overview setup.
add options to right click menu on any weapon to remember the setup and give it a name.
further right clicks would show that name and selecting the name would load that ammunition setup.

Apart from this being the eleventy-first thread on this topic (at least) it remains a good idea.

Gah... I couldn't find an older thread, sorry. It seems a minor hassle for CCP to introduce though...

1. it would magnify the advantage lasers have. 2. switching ammo on a destroyer is pointless since the difference between spike and javolin range is less than it takes to switch ammo.

You should be able to set turret/bay 'groups'
Select first 4 turrets, assign to group one, the icons squish together or bind to each other, and you have a single smaller button above the group, allowing you to turn all guns on/off on the first click, reload, change ammo, and unload, basically the same as you would for each turret.
what do you think?

It would do more for Caldari and Minmatar. Minmatar T2 ammo isnt so great vs shields and this would allow them to switch to EMP or phased plasma and back to explosive ammo to take down shield tanks and switch to armor tanks.
The same thing happens for Caldari as well, except with the singular damage types, they have an easier time of picking appropriate damage for the situation. It would have the least effect on Gallente.

1: I'm not sure how, as missiles for instance have a similar advantage (not exactly the same, but similar nonetheless. 2: I presume you _do_ fly other ships than destroyers ;]

I like the sound of that and I'd prefer it over what #3 (various setups) proposed. However a lot in EVE is done with setups - think about your overview presets - so I guess that would fit better inside the existing interface. ____________________ The "Change ALL Ammo"-button |

This objection pops up almost as frequently as the suggestion itself. Luckily I'm nearly always on hand to debunk it
It could be implemented as a client side script that goes through all the guns in turn rather than actually changing them all in one go. It could also have a slight delay before each gun (maybe just for crystal users).
This means players have a choice:Change manually as they always do now and swap all the turrets on their apoc in 8 seconds or get the client to do it for them and it takes 12 seconds.
This is in keeping with Eve philosophy penalising people who are lazy and rewarding those that put in extra effort. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Not a good idea, make it switch all instantly. Laser users need this.
