hi - my windows vista disks landed on my doorstep this morning and i must say, im liking what i see so far (and im a hard and fast linux user). However the 'normal' (TQ) client is refusing to run - it seems to install ok. ive tried compatibility, ive tried running as administrator, ive tried installing to a folder other than 'progrma files' and combinations of the three.
is this new sisi client the 'eve vista' client?
and if not is there somewhere that i can get the vista client, or a patch/info that will make the normal one work
im getting eve withdrawals already
thx Scythe

I thought we already had a unicode font on tranquility - the font on the test server is smaller and tighter so I'm not an immediate fan.
I do like that the text is centred in the tabs with space all round the text but we are sacrificing the font size to achieve this.

There is no specific Vista client yet as the OS has not been formally released, there is however a "fix" that some people have found that works here ---

Originally by: Sharkbait the client is the exact same as TQ is now, but it's just in unicode. there are no changes other than that. and yes, please bug report as normal. sooner we get this on TQ, the sooner we can start looking at getting kali in testing
Seems there are a few differences between TQ and this new client. There seems to be a ton of little really great improvements! New map tabs, tabbed IGB, new (I) icons, more traffic options for AP, tutorial button on the Neocon, some kind of Naturalpoint head tracker under Graphics?
From what little I saw it rocks. VERY smooth UI. I'm excited about this. -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | Visual Building Guide (Both work in game too!) |

yeah, it looks as if they have done some work to the ui framework, few bugs in it mind you, but quicker they're reported the quicker they're fixed

So, 2 SISI servers atm?
How come I can't log on to the old one? The login screen shows TQ and SISI (4539).
I havn't downloaded the new client yet.

Ok, I downloaded it, copied it to the Copy of Eve I used for SiSi, and it took over my main folder. :S It's fine, 'cause I'll just use the copy, but weird. Anyway, no, it hasn't been re-mirrored.

Actually she looks really good. Sleeker somehow, the info buttons were replaced with round buttons and they are brighter. Looks like little more contrast/lighting change. I just looked at basics, didnt have time to play around with.
Anyway, visually looks good so far. I am going to test her more tomorrow, want to see if they changed the promised Active/Inactive button highlights to maike them more pronounced in "light" background systems.

Im having bad synchronization/timer problems on my laptop which has been running the TQ client perfectlyfor months.
When a skill completes it hangs at the 'completion imminent' state for ages. Displayed cap available doesn't match true value. Neither does shield, its really at 0% while showing about 20%. It is as if the client and server have two completely different views of my skills. Possibly ignoring my skill points server side?
If anyone else having this problem i'll file a bug report.

Looks like the original post is not quite correct, as the SISI 1 4539 is now where old SISI used to be, and the SISI 2 3913 is at 87.237.38.10.
SISI 2 is currently not up, it says "full cluster (0)".

Unicode is nice. 64bits native code would be even better. ------------------------------ loose != lose you're != your it's != its they're != there

Edited by: Uther Doull on 08/07/2006 14:18:34 Major issue, will we be able to keep our cache/settings folder? i for one don't really feel liek reorganizing 6000 bookmakrs tbh... i'm sure there ar emany that share the sentiment
oh, and will we finally be able to distinquish between the different characters in 0.0 system names? in other words, will you use a half decent font this time?

For the partial downloaders, have you tried useing a download manager such as DAP instead of just downloading through your browser?
SiSi 2 client with patch 3913 has a mirror on it thats a couple of months old at least. SiSi 1 client with patch 4539 has a mirror on it thats around 2 weeks old.
If you are tryin the new unicode client, your shortcuts that you use to use will be redirected to this new client instead nno matter what directory you install it to so youll have to go back and recreate those shortcuts to your main TQ client.
Hope that helps with a few questions... _________________________________________

YSIget ftw, tbh =P
but im confused - when i delete the contents of my SiSi folder and put in the new client (old one wasnt working so meh ) it will change ALL my desktop shortcuts to link to the new client? or will it overwrite my TQ folder by default? arrrf! confused =(

it goes from saying "proxy not connected, 13 players in game" to saying "cannot connect to ip.ip.ip.ip" if i click the icon again. i assume its down for everyone, and if so, how long for? any clue?
