Ok CCP, i know it's probably not your problem. However 5 days should definately be long enough to figure out who's problem it is.
So, can you please tell us who's problem it is, and email address/ phone number for them. We will then vent all our frustrations directly to them and perhaps they will get enough complaints that they fix whatever is broken.
How's that sound?
(Also if you have their home addresses and phone numbers we might get a reaction faster )

Originally by: Jinx Barker It is going to be almost 5 days since I am unable to play the game for more than 10 Minutes at a time. I figured, since nothing is being done, to wait till end of today's...ThursdayÆs DT and see what happens. I also, sincerely hope that CCP realises that this is no longer a small inconvenience... 5 Days Down Time is no Joke.
Not a drop of information? In this thread alone there are several post by the dev's stating what they know and are doing. It's easy to yell at CCP, but you need to understand the fact that if the problem lies with an external source, say an ISP, an unmotivated Gerbil, a faulty grandmother or someone with a bad hangover - it's not as easy to fix as you seem to think. Yes it's annoying, yes i'm affected and has been since monday, and time is no joke as you say, but the attitude among a lot of people on this forum is.
Clearly we're paying for something we're not receiving atm, but major compensation for these 5 days isn't going to make it any easier to fix the problem, nor is the fact that by a $0.50 pr day compensation CCP would stand to loose something in the neighbourhood of $175000 (70k accounts) something that should aid to the general situation regarding lag, serverproblems etc.
Finally, you're clearly not speaking for everyone who has been affected by this. And i'm pretty sure that the people at CCP is just as frustrated as you are, most likely even more. In my opinion they are doing a great job, and seemingly it's an ungratefull job.

You know .. I had this long post prepared, defending CCP, as i do understand and know how difficult it is to track down transient routing issues in clustered devices such as they use for their load balancing ..
But i thought wtf .. all i want to do is play the Eve which i love and i cant ..
Bah .. oh well best to rack some points up in BF2 then while i wait for light at the end of the tunnel not to be the train coming the other way ..

See i told u flaming would help
Sorry Devs, but like others above said. I'm sure there is a way u can just forget about the EULA for a few days and give us our EvE back so you dont have to do overtime while other people could do it and u can go home....
Question: Are the Test Server and Normal server at 2 different locations? Because the test server works fine.... -----------------------------------------

My problem seems to be gone. i could play untill downtime ( almost 2 hrs) without problems. My route used to go through the dreaded iceland connection, but now for some reason it no longer does ( lucky me?)

Edited by: Gretchen Dawntreader on 20/10/2005 11:15:38 I actually flew around for about 30 minutes right before the long downtime today without crash, a record since sunday...will have to see how things are this evening.
(edit...my tracert still looks ugly about the same place)

So I will start off with mine...
I put mine as a link instead since they are so much nicer formatted then - Linkage
NOTE: I used 'pathping 157.157.139.10' instead of the normal traceroute as it gives so much better statistics where the packet loss is.
This will especially be useful today after downtime because we will do quite drastic measures today, starting by disabling some of our backbone connections, forcing players through different routes.
We'll try disabling C&W first, getting customers mostly through T-Systems. Changes like this can effectively cut out parts of the world from playing EVE since the link we shut down can be the only good route which they can use. so wish us (and them) luck!
just thought to add it in here aswell

No man, yours does go through it. The ICENET connection IP is 157.157.62.26 ..... it's the 3rd to last on your tracert.
You're just lucky if you can play for extended periods of time. ____________________________________________ 87.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot

Close but no cigar. The Iceland Telecom IP address is 166.63.214.198. I believe that 157.157.62.26 will be CCP's border router (proven by the fact that it's on the same IP block as the game servers and myeve, and those with no problems also go through .62.26).

Ok, so in the other thread Oveur posted that they'd be shutting down some connections, forcing people to take other routes. I'm not connectiong through a route that doesn't go throught the C&W hop that was giving me greif before and it seems stable!

Same for me. I'm now routing through DTAG with no problems whatsoever.

Iceland-Telecom replied to my question about the high ping on one of there devices.. Here it is
Hi ********,
Thanks for your mail. Yes 166.63.214.198 is indeed our hardware. I am aware of the high ping to the device. The reason is high cpu spikes due to BGP processing. It should not affect throughput through the router as is evident if you do a trace through the device then you donŠt see equally large spikes (or any spikes at all) in hops that are on the other side of the device. But never the less we plan to replace this router with a newer, bigger, and more powerful version on the 27'th of this month.
P.s. I assume you play EVE online and that is the reason for your query ? If it is then rest assured, we are devotedly trying to fix the disconnect issues that have been going on these last three days.
Best regards, Ingvar

So - thx everyone - especially Oveur - i love u all! - and have a good fanfest..
Btw.. the RamSan just blew my pants off ... instant market search + asset view.. or is it just because i haven't played Eve for a week ?

Just have to say... the new network route sucks *BEEP* I never had such bad performance, I vote the old route back (and get tons of angry eve players against me lol)
Will see if it improves as time goes on. :)

I find it hillarious how the problem gets fixed with the server upgrades. You still gonna tell us it was not CCP's fault?
I think about 5 days worth of game credit is due to all affected.

I really really wish people would read before they open their mouthes. Readme kplxthxbbq.
The problems have been fixed not becuase of the server changes today, but simply becuase CCP have unplugged the C&W lines. No doubt they'll be reconnected as soon as C&W have got their act together.

Someone should send a message to Dtag complimenting them on thier ability to handle the increased traffic.
Now, the question becomes "Why did it take CCP 5 days to do something as simple as reroute around Iceland Telecom?"
Sorry guys, but I don't think you're off the hook yet.
