CCP could already have this pinned down, but maybe a little hotfix optional patch that just routes you though a confirmed good proxy that could handle the load might be a good thing to crank out until the problem is resolved. I know it's super-obvious but when you are thinking really hard sometimes you miss the simpler things.
Except CCP can't control network routing outside their net, Torque. That's a provider issue...

But this problem is not outside their network !!!!!
The problem is with one of their main transit provider Iceland Telecom or their own servers hosted with that provider
Either way it's a problem they can resolve and should have in 3 days not even like its a weekend.

Edited by: Rakhan kane on 19/10/2005 14:24:00 So Chribba is kind enough to set up a proxy so people who can't play without constant disconnects can play, and CCP is kind enough to block the IP of the proxy, because the EULA can be interpreted to forbid such activity?
Thanks. I've been a paying customer for almost a full day and already I want my money back.

Yeah I find that VERY VERY VERY amusing !!! You could of course interpret the EULA to disallow NAT... I bet most people behind a home firewall/route do that, and don't even really know it? Maybe we'll all get blocked eventually?
Seriously though.. I think we deserve an update from CCP on the problem.

You've gotta be kidding me. What's your guys' problem CCP?
As stupid as this sounds, THAT ALONE annoys me more than the 4 days of downtime that I'm paying for.

Yeah i just got banned aswell because i used that brilliant persons proxy. It was finaly sattisfied.....i could play the game i pay for again after 2.5 days without any CTD at all.
Then CCP comes in and makes it worse? Because of a EULA rule?
I wonder, what does CCP rather have....sattisfied custumors. OR P1SSED OFF PEOPLE THAT CANT PLAY THE GAME AND NOT TO MENTION DEVS THAT DONT TAKE 5 FREAKIN MINUTS TO ANSWER OR KEEP US UP TO DATE!
How hard can it be? It looks like we are not even wanted on the server. Just get someone to talk to us here and tell us whats going on and WHEN they think it will be sorted.
And it doesn't matter if its CCP's servers problem or whatever proxy thingybobs isn't workin. It looks like your just ignoring us.

Probably 75%. Of course the 25% have no idea what your talking about and as such respond "no".

Edited by: Ishana on 19/10/2005 14:39:34 I have my Windows Firewall turned off, and have another firewall online. Never had any problems before, and I'm sure this has nothing to do with any firewall. If my firewall would block the port, it would do so constantly and not sometimes.
Also I know 2 people who use the same firewall as me, and they can play... _________________________________________________________

Oveur, people have provided countless traceroutes, and other information like mains not working, some systems seem to be affected, others don't, and I have added to that information by saying when my main crashes, an alt can login, then the main can.
Can you tell us what CCP are doing? Especially in relation to the IP address that has been mentioned many times.

It cant be our own Machine's. Then we wouldn't have been able to play through Chribba's proxy either. Because that didn't show any lag. I was even able to kill some stuff in syndicate again, no problems at all.
I wouldn't know how to turn a calculatar on, but i do know this has nohtin to do with our or at least my PC. -----------------------------------------

All right. Due to some advice in another thread I did some digging and came up with a different IP that has been mentioned. The trace first:
8 13 ms 14 ms 13 ms tur1r1.k.fv.fi [217.78.198.58] 9 17 ms 17 ms 16 ms tuk1r1.k.fv.fi [217.78.198.226] 10 17 ms 16 ms 16 ms tuk2r1.k.fv.fi [217.78.198.234] 11 16 ms 18 ms 17 ms ge-0-3-0-ycr2.skt.cw.net [166.63.220.81] 12 45 ms 45 ms 45 ms so-2-0-0-bcr1.bru.cw.net [206.24.147.197] 13 45 ms 50 ms 45 ms ae0-bcr2.bru.cw.net [206.24.147.30] 14 49 ms 56 ms 49 ms so-5-1-0-dcr2.amd.cw.net [195.2.10.66] 15 92 ms 55 ms 65 ms so-4-0-0-dcr1.tsd.cw.net [195.2.10.146] 16 55 ms 55 ms 62 ms so-4-0-0-bcr3.tsd.cw.net [195.2.10.97] 17 55 ms * * iceland-telecom1.tsd.cw.net [166.63.214.198] 18 56 ms 55 ms 56 ms iceland-telecom1.tsd.cw.net [166.63.214.198] 19 60 ms 56 ms 60 ms 157.157.62.26 20 56 ms 55 ms 55 ms 157.157.139.252 21 56 ms 57 ms 55 ms 157.157.139.10
Trace complete.
Now, there seems to be something going on between hops 16 and 17 seems. So I pinged simultaniously and here is what I found out:
Hop 16:
Ping statistics for 195.2.10.97: Packets: Sent = 6969, Received = 6969, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 57ms, Maximum = 413ms, Average = 68ms
All good so far.
Hop 17:
Ping statistics for 166.63.214.198: Packets: Sent = 6007, Received = 5858, Lost = 149 (2% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 57ms, Maximum = 4321ms, Average = 99ms
And here we go. Lost packets were in bursts, just the way that would cause it. I am sure CCP already knew this, but if they didn't here is one possible cause for the problem:
