So I've mainly just been doing missions... mostly ones I could handle in my destroyer... But I'd like to take my Megathron for a spin... I'm just not sure how to set it up.
What would be a good setup for someone who DOESN'T have billions of isk to throw around? Something simple but effective, and hopefully not too complex to make good use of.

You want to go from a Destroyer to a Faction BS?
Are you going to try to use the bs in the same lvl missions you were using a destroyer in or are you moving up to lvl 4s or something?

You can't imagine the difference between destroyer and faction bs.
Now from T1 L2/3 BS and Faction BS my answer is Faction BS no doubt. ________________________________________________

Well, at the moment, I have a Frigate, Destroy and Battlecruiser that I've been doing missions with. But I got my hands on a Megathron, and would like some advice on how to set it up for missions. And I probably won't be doing level 4's any time soon.

my advice would be to sell the navythron back to the market and wait until you are in L4s before you get a BS and wait till you have really good skills for a BS before you get a navy thron again... ---------------------------- Outta my way... |

Thron isn't really a low SP ship, and you undoubtedly have low SP. Also, missions take LONGER to finish in BSs than smaller ships if you're doing lvl 1-3s. Get used to running missions in a regular BS, get used to running lvl 4s, THEN look at getting a navythron (or a navy domi, preferrably) |

Sell the navy mega and get a domi. It's a lot more forgiving and will probably keep you alive when (not if) you screw up. It's also a lot cheaper.

If you are going to use 2 of a scripted upgrade with opposite scripts it's better to just leave them empty. SCHALAC HAS SPOKEN |

No it's not. Do you understand how stacking penalties work? With 2 modules the stacking penalty doesn't even matter. SCHALAC HAS SPOKEN |

Yes it does.
Now go read: http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Stacking_penalty Do me a favor, load up two scriptable mods on your ship and then fly out into space. Turn them on then check stats, you will get more than 87% efficiency on the second mod. Now add scripts and then do the same. The change in % will be less than 1% effect, in some cases it actually gimps your ship to have 2 opposite scripts working in tandem. Sensor booster comes to me off the top of my head. Sensor booster comes to me off the top of my head. Do me a favor and run the numbers. While pretty small without other competing modules it begins to stand out once there is a rig or modules also providing an optimale range/tracking bonus. Two tracking computers without scripts is worse then both scripted with opposite scripts. Tracking computers are not sensor boosters. For sensor booster your point stand but we weren't talking about that now were we?

Replace one of the tracking computers Omnidirectional tracking link to help those sentrys would be more beneficial I think ?

Yep, that's a valid option.
Or could just keep throwing isk at it and have 2 tracking comps and 2 omnis

Well, I see some interesting suggestions.
And SP wise, I'm at 35 million at the moment. I have every drone skill level 5. Gunnery 5, medium/large hybrid at 4. Currently topping off the navigation skills. Battleship and destroyers level 5. Frigate and cruiser are at 4.

Used to run a Navy Mega in Caldari space and it worked well. It went something like
7x 425 T2 rails
can't remember if it was 3 or 4 cap rechargers, if it was 3 use TC, web or an ab whatever suits you.
1x Centus X-type lar 3x mission specific hardeners 3x Mag Stabs 1x Darkblood CPR
Rigs 2x CCC 1 Aux Nano Pump T2
drones
This was cap stable and could run everything forever. Overall I liked it more than any ship I have ever flown.
Was a pretty good mission boat but did have problems with close orbiting frigates and cruisers, use drones to take out the the webbing frigs. Then you could kill cruisers at close range so long as you approached or moved away from the cruisers to get their transversal down.
Only problem is, it is sp intensive and the lar I used was not cheap.

Don't even think about undocking that BS until you have Large hybrid lvl 5 and large rail specialization lvl 4 However, you might want to consider a few things, first of all; I now have one of those annoying sigs. second; you should probably move on to some more interesting things than reading this sig.

With drone skills at 5 you should be flying the Domi or the Ishtar. you'll get more bang for your buck if you sell the Navy Mega and buy a few of those. Setup a sentry version and a heavy drone version for less than the cost of the Mega. Drone interfacing 5 puts the smack down for sure with T2 drones.
At 35 mil sp you should have access to lvl 4's. And one would wonder why mission if it isn't a lvl 4 or 5? (Which the Ishtar can do)
With the Domi you can plow enuff missions to buy a new Navy Mega in a cpl days or weeks depending how fast you go.

ive flown a navy mega for a while before getting the skills for a kronos. Its a fine ship, and does plenty of dmg with both sentries and guns, its defenitely worth training to t2 large guns for it.
And if you dont like doing missions with drones like me (i think its boring as hell, training minmatar atm) its an ok alternative.
