Masters Pets, I'd be on the lookout for being baited doing that. People might already be interested in you once they see/scan your ship the first time, then when they learn it's not for missions but you'll be tring to get aggro in it, off station and possibly past a few gates where RR might struggle to catch up in time, you could be made to look stupid. But yeah you should smash stuff until that time, shame you can't choose damage apart from drones though. |

The only people who will see the ships are the bears that will shoot me. If anyone tries to bait then it would be pretty difficult since I'd have to scan down that specific ship. Any ship will probably get killed eventually. I just want to do as much wtfbbq'ing with mine before it goes boom.
Also after playing around with EFT I see that it should be possible to go over 2k dps if you overheat. Mad props to the person suggesting T2 ammo instead of faction. I would have missed that for sure. Since a webbed mission BS probably moves with 20-30m/s tracking is not a problem.

Anyone in system with the d-scan open will see your vindicator around, and the first time you kill someone in the mission at least one person will know that you are actively engaging in PvP with it off station. I'd give it maybe two days before you have someone trying to bait you, depending on how active you are and how much you move around.

Edited by: Joss56 on 23/12/2010 21:36:44 Vindi problem is blasters, i'll let you figure out wy.
Pu him 7 large rails and the stuff that goes well for snipe and youll get a beast, not so good has any other arty/pew ship but he's much better then any gallente ship in this case.
PS: summum of ridiculous you'll get more dps with T2's than any faction rail, using faction ammo OC (T2 suxx anyway)
Tip: heard that faction projectiles/missiles/crystals are 100% better ________________________________________________

How so? Ive been farming right thru lv 4's ina rail hyperion, knocking anything out at range and loading antimatter for close up. I do dual box a legion pilot for missions which start close range with frig and cruiser swarms but after he takes aggro the hyp comes in and happily mops up large hulls while I deal with small hulls.
A vindicator would be a step up, 3 shot bs's instead of 4-6.
The advantages of arty over rails in my opinion is more than mitigated by the drone boats gallentian systems specialization emphasises.
Of course this is a pve perspective
The problem with hybrids is that they tend to work best on the 2 extreme edges of the range scale, whereas mission rats tend to lie somewhere in the middle of it. Blasters lack the range to hit most of the rats, and rails lack the DPS potential you get from pulses/ACs/Torps. Rail hyp is horrible for pve, I'd suggest trying out a nightmare/mach/CNR/golem/vargur (I've flown them all with perfect/near perfect skills for pve) before deciding that hybrids aren't bad for pve.
It's also worth noting that from a mission standpoint, you're probably better off with a navy domi for lvl 4s than a vindi as with a shield tank+425mm rails you can top 1100 DPS with it (the only gal ship I still use for missions, and even then only sometimes) |

Same right here, if you have some isk try a Mega navy and you'll put your hyperion on contract realy fast.
The bigest problem of rails is theyr lack of alpha, tracking and don't ask me wy but i only fire with faction antimatter, but if any mob gets under 10Km it's over, even an BS when i hit him i'll never get my full dps.
And blasters suxx because of their mechanincs, you can't apply your 100% dmg if your target isn't in your pathetic op distance and webbed x3. If you find another player stupid enough to get that close, then i need his nick and system where he lives ________________________________________________

Try double clicking in the direction npc moves. But yeah, pve shouldnt be that difficult.

The vindicator makes the best of a bad situation, but it's STILL a bad situation. Blasters are one of the most useless weapon types in the game. You can't even PvE with them efficiently. Rails are fairly lackluster too. The web bonus on the vindi at least ensures you can hold onto to what you catch, but the real problem is catching them in the first place. Anyone stupid enough to get within web range of a vindi is either unfamiliar with the ship or falling asleep at the keyboard. It's fat, slow, and armor tanked. Three things that vastly handicap the usefulness of its primary weapons. Overall, the vindi is ok, but just ok. It's no Machariel.

Problem is a 425mm rail domi will get the same DPS for a fraction of the cost (assuming you shield tank them, shield domi will mop the floor with an armor tanked vindi) |

It's good if you fly with a gang of other faction battleships, that way you confuse your opponents with who to primary. The vindi, nightmare, or blaah?! :( !!!
If you are reading this, you are lucky.

Meh, its not like farming in nullsec is any more dangerous than running Lvl4s in hisec

It's not, but you still can get shot.
And no, suicide ganking isn't relevant here. ---[center] Please resize your signature to the maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

Erm, undocking a pve faction BS (prolly pimped as well) in a hisec mission hub? Suicide ganking is very relevant here, trust me.
Anyway, my point is both activities are basically riskless if you take the required precautions (not pimp your ship in hisec, watch local and pull the good old insta-safe routine in nullsec), nothing else.
