The secret 2010 expansion, entitled 'Invasion' allows EVE-capsuleers the ability to join the nefarious pirate factions of EVE and marks the revival of the low-sec high seas, expanding low-sec by creating more gaps in the trade routes now filled with 0.1->0.4 space. With added factions to faction warfare, such as Sansha's Nation, Guristas, Serpentis and Angels the player can embark on a faction warfare career like no other. With new trades such as black market running, ransom mechanics, bribes and the new 'sloop' class gate tackler; specially designed for fast tackles at gates CCP marks a new epoch in their online game. Spend years on developing a career as a pirate, and only dedicated -10 and high ransom will gain you the opportunity to join the infamous Dread Guristas, Shadow Serpentis, Domination and ranks of the True Sansha.
But this all is not a silver spoon in the mouths of the morally depraved. Concord's finest have also opened player recruitment, allowing players to become involved in the largest anti-pirate move in the history of New Eden. Gallente and Minmatar allows players to join the 'police academy' and plenty of rewards in forms of bounties, cargo confiscation, and wiretaps (more info available on that feature in Tuxford's latest devblog) await those who wish to fight the decadence awaiting in this winter's patch. Finally some of the concord ships will now be available with promotion and acceptance among the player populated policemen of EVE.
We hope that all of you will appreciate this expansion, and note that we managed to also identify and squish the dreaded lag through thorough testing on SiSi. Enjoy Invasion this winter.

Mm, wiretaps. Wondering how that notorius -10.0 pirate is getting supplies from highsec. Stick a trace on him, identify his market alt and suic...legaly confiscate his goods. And of course like all police powers, it would never be used for underhanded means...

When the winter 2010 expansion arrives, I'd like CCP to look back at his post, and then look at what they've done as an expansion. If it's as good as this, then job well done. But if it's just pipe dreams, I'm on the edge as it is.

Yeah sounds good, doesn't it?
But when you go into the details, it suddenly looks all ugly.
Black market running? What is that? Care to come up with a specification on what that is and how it works? Balacing?
Faction warfare career? What is that? What advantages, drawbacks?
Ransom mechanics? Yeah, explain that a bit more please?
and so on...
Sure, it is VERY easy to just throw in some fancy words and say 'woah, I want now!' But when it comes down to explain what it should do exactly, yeah, then it all is suddenly - oops, doesn't work like that.
Besides, I find it very funny. Some people yelling and whining that CCP isn't doing enough new features. Some other people yelling and whining that CCP is doing too many new features instead of stopping all new features for fixing bugs.

There have been numerous posts in Features and Ideas detailing black market ideas, and other of the stuff in the OP (such as the ability to join pirate factions). This is not so much to illuminate the ideas here though, but as to the general response if the features added to EVE (which CCP keeps on doing) weren't Incarna. The only thing I liked about Incarna was that you could have a more detailed, cooler avatar. But that's it, for me EVE is a spaceship game.
I'm still open to the possibility of CCP proving me wrong with the next expansion(s). And I will most likely still play the game (I'm not paying for it with real money anymore, so...).

Edited by: Ranger 1 on 31/07/2010 19:37:22 I guess the real question is whether people would consider this a new feature (if it came to be) and go into open revolt, or polishing an existing feature.
Still, as it involves in-ship pew pew I suppose most would happily embrace it (as would I). However it might inspire an uprising in the oppressed industrialist/trade sector.
Either way, it would be proclaimed by a vocal few to the be "END OF EVE"... which of course means it would be a rousing success.

The game needs many fixes but an expansion similar to this one would be the only one I'd actually look forward to. More so the ability to join the various pirate factions and a real buff to low sec than the other stuff.
I'm sure the care bear rage would never allow this stuff to happen though..
Now I don't think out right placement of low sec systems in trade routes would be viable for the game but what if it was taken a bit further into the hands of the eve community.
Think if Pirates could change the sec status of high sec systems running concord out of the system in a Empire wide faction war. Empire residents would have the ability to fight back and also try to make low sec systems into high sec.
This would allow for a progression of Empire space and a good vs bad battle in a since that would put the game and Empire systems in the hands of the players.
Of course once Jita turned low sec the game would end..

You madam are an idiot. What are you expecting from the OP? To write down all the functional specs of a... vision?
He is a paying customer coming with an ingenious idea. In fact, he is coming with the fundamental vision that could bring Eve to the next milestone.
It's neither in his interest nor his job to manage the project. This is something that well paid salaries within CCP should be considering and providing.
Seeing the response of most posters on this thread, OP has been voicing everybody's hopes and vision in which direction Eve should be further shaping.

There are problems though:
1. How would this affect the game beyond lowsec? If by "gaps in the trade routes" you mean "separating empires with lowsec" you'll boost lowsec at the expense of a lot of people. Will the new pirate faction missions depress the price of other faction ships even worse, and destroy frig fights? (by making Dramiels cheaper for example.)
2. Can this content be metagamed and made useless/irrelevant? Ransom mechanics + needing high ransom combine to ransom each others alts for example?
3. Are there enough people willing to use it? Not many people go -10. Why would pirate factions make that any better? Would hi-sec dwellers choose the Concord faction to balance the pirate one, or would EVE be like every other game that relied on player policing?
I don't think this would provide as much benefit as you think. I've seen it in other MMOs: changes to please the hardcore have little positive impact at best, and can screw the game up at worst. It sounds simple in an idea and concept stage, but a MMO is an ecosystem, and changes can evolve not to plan.

Because CCP never changes something that only affects a certain part of game play or space
Also, have you been to 0.0 lately? There are three sizes of ships in small gangs, Battleship, Cruiser and Dramiel. Don't think a drop or even an increase in price would change anything, its OP, and everyone knows it.
