Someone put forward this idea a few months ago and its dynamite. CCP could easily solve the problem by establishing a "challange" system. ... you suspect a miner to be a bot. You try to convo. ... if he has his auto-reject on ... or he doesn't respond in 30 minutes he turns blinky red. .... problem solved. easy peasy.
CCP ... are you listening?

Now it I absoulutly love messing with these guys but it's just getting old... Cheaters in games that is... What about filing a petition on these ever so gifted people and getting them banned from eve? If the petition goes through aren't they going to get their IP blocked? So they're gone for good! I'd be ****ed if all ccp does is ban the account and some macro moron cant start back up his/her crap again.
I am seriously debating on setting a group of individuals to go around and start trying to get hackers/cheaters/etc banned from whatever game it is that they're exploiting... great games are being ruined everyday because of little kids- IT DRIVES ME INSANE!!!
...or we can just find them in person beat them to a pulp and videotape/youtube the beating lol... I know that was little much over a game lol. I understand I need therapy but honestly I'm ok.

Ships that are always at the same spot, no matter what time of day you come through the belt.
Of course, assuming they are not using secure cans, my favourite way to find out is to see how many cans of ore I can get hauled to a station before anyone says anything in local, or convos me. Usually I get bored first.
Also anyone who doesnt respond to a ship orbitting them for 20 mins is a giveaway.
Usually I get some expletives followed by something about not having expensive ore in the cans, even when all I am doing is flying in circles admiring the pretty ships.
People are not as polite as they were when I was little

23/7 Activity. Automatically detectable, automatically bannable, automatically ignorable by CCP for five consecutive years.
If your yacht, was as big as Hilmar's yacht, you'd know why too.

Sure, no problem. Just be prepared to pay out 2 million ISK every time you try and decide if I am a macro or not (CSPA charge ftw).
Also, how do you handle people who are blocked, under your glorious instant agro system, hmm?

As a miner, if you are yellow (or red), and flying a non-mining ship, I'm not gonna hang around for long.
For example. Recently was mining when an Orca warped in. Orca was followed by a CNR and a Brutix(?), both yellow with bounties. I didn't wait for the strip miner cycle to end before warping away.

De ... sounds like you're not a fan of my glorious system lol. But you make a couple of valad points.
This meanns that ccp would have to program a miner challange system ... not that hard to do (easy for me to say). AND they would need to limit the number of challanges a miner could get (say one per hour) to reduce the harrassment factor.
Oh, and it would be even better if you got a bounty for killing a bot!

this is really the only way
some nonbot miners are so methodical they will look exactly like a bot they are THAT a-na-l
Some miners are infact uni students with no life and three monitors. These kind of miners like to keep a schedule, they mine for hours straight, that it becomes a routine.
Minings fun

ok look, i do mine in hulk ( its one of my favorite things to do in eve) , i minimize windows i dont take ninja convo's or respond to ass hats in local who want to save the world from micro miners.. thats making me play your game. i dont pay ccp to play your game . period. so please go to low sec where they have plenty of people there to "respond" to your foolishness .. really who cares unless these micro miners are ruining your isk selling business. i have no trouble mining the mins i need to keep up building including ice for the pos fuel . really people always in this channel crying pirate and carebear tears about all kinds of stuff . just deal with it ( grow a pair) or GTFO...
p.s please kill more hulks business is booming...

Ok, on a serious note.
No, I am not a fan of anything that makes my life a PITA in game. I get enough of that in the real world - I mean honestly, I have kids, a husband, and a job! I don't need annoying crap in my recreational activities too.
Hmm, I am not sure that came out the way I meant it, but you get the idea.
Anyway, I agree, Macros = bad, and someone needs to put foot to ass to stop them from profiting, but I have yet to see a failsafe way of identifying a macro that doesn't include legitamate players too. I would rather let a few macros in than punish real players for being too macro-like.
This includes your idea - what if I'm AFK (as I occasionally am to deal with the children, or make dinner, or visit the room of the porcelin goddess) when your challenge comes in? One would think 30 minutes would be long enough, but I do occasionally get shanghaied by one of the kids while I'm playing and have to go deal with that - and while I try and dock beforehand, sometimes I don't get a chance to, so there my ship is, merrily mining away with my wee drones orbiting blissfully while your arbitrary timer runs out and I am suddenly Public Enemy Number 1.
And while I could, yes, petition that after the fact, my point is I shouldn't have to. --Vel

Here is my list. Some or all of these:
-npc character, no bio, no employment history, no standings -uses crap fit hulk, something no real player would use -ignores rats, player agression, evemail, local, and private chats -does not jetcan or have alt hauling, does not have booster -follows pattern unfailingly and does predictive behavior when disrupted from pattern (ie, you bump it away, it docks, undocks, warps to belt, resumes mining) -if bumped or ganked, ignores, comes back next day, new hulk, same place, same pattern -online 24/7

De ...
I see your (and others as well) point. ... with many miners only paying somewhat attention to the game, a challange system would just add another thing that pulls them away from RL. As owner of an alt who heads up a family friendly corp (Nephite Tribe)I suppose I should know this. .... well, I guy can dream I suppose. And just as someone else said, if ccp wanted to do something about this they would have by now. I believe that to be true. Anyway, good discussion.

Roland,
I agree, guys (and us girls) can dream about a day when macroers are but a dimly remembered joke.
