Fleet support. And fighters for damage (and drones). You can solo in it, but thats asking for trouble ^^

Well, there are these bonii to shield/energy/armor reps depending on which carrier you choose. Maybe this could give you a hint, what they are good for in fleets

Not a very productive response; but if you have to ask such basic questions you shouldn't even think of flying one. If you still have the urge to make it, sell it to someone who can fly it effectively.
Sorry for the flame.

The carrier is primarily a capital logistics ship.
It fits capital remotte repair modules to fix up the ships in your fleet. It is also able to carry extra ships and equipment, and it's fighters provide some fighter support. -Xindi Kraid CSFI lead engineer and shipwright

You don't fit guns on a carrier, remote rep/shield, Drone Control Units and Smartbomb to take out drones/fighters that is on you.
Carrier can be used for logistics, ain't good at it though. You use fighters or a mixture of other drones. Carriers are not solo ships, never. And if you don't know how to fit a carrier or its roles, you shouldn't fly one. Sorry. Join a 0.0 alliance and learn from watching them in action.

Also keep in mind you can't fly a carrier in hisec, so if that's where you spend most of your time forget about it.

great thanks for the info , looking at it right now ..
its hard going away for a bit and then coming back and finding everything change on me .. even with 15 million skills points i still feel like a noob all over again ..
so if i cant get my carrier like i wanted for empire space , then what would be a good cap ship for agent missions and stuff like that ?

You don't use cap ships for that purpose. Cap ships operate in 0.0-0.4 and you'll need a second char to change systems.

I'm assuming that if you were going to train for a carrier, then you would want a Minmatar one (Nidhoggur). Here is an example of how they are fit.
If you don't know what a capital ship is, be aware that the skill requirements are pretty high and the books are also expensive. Don't even sit in this ship unless you have the skills to use all of the things in this setup adequately...Especially the capital mods and drones/FIGHTERS.
Capital pilots are always wanted in a serious PVP corp running out of 0.0 or even low sec space. You should consider joining a corp that suits your desires in order to get the most out of this ship.
Remember, the fitting that I linked you to is old and is by no means the "be all, end all" setup for a carrier. It's just to give you an idea of how people set them up. There is room to play with your setup, but don't even think about putting turrets or missile launchers on it unless you want to be a laughingstock.
Hope that helps.

dont really care to much about being a laughing stock , i have always been that since day one ..
i just wanted one because i though it would be a great ship and that i could use it for agent missions .. but from what i have learned looks like i cant fly in empire space .. and looks like i cant put guns or launchers on it ..
man this is confusing ..

I'm at a loss, your account is an impossible amount of failure and I really mean that in the least nasty way possible.
Have you taken like a 2 or 3 year break from eve or something? Considering you've been in a noob corp for 3 years.
Anyways, just about everything you need to know about capital ships is in the descriptions, there's a few exceptions like some rigs don't work on them *shakes fist and curses CCP* and there's no official in game tool to plan your route.
I would say your best plan is to join a real corp, preferably one with 0.0 access, and ask them to help you on the way to capitals and such. Just being around and talking with players who have a clue will generally tell you everything you need to know and not soil our precious forums. (just kidding lol, these forums are soiled already).

As well as of the cap ships built in high sec when it was still possible to build them in high sec.
You may be able to buy one, for the right price

Try a battleship. It's pretty big, and it runs L4 agent missions.

No, HOWEVER - there are still a few carriers left in highsec from when you were allowed to build them.
