Edited by: Cloora on 28/10/2008 06:50:00 Sgt Branko, What are you talking about?
the MWD + Cloak trick? Why would you use that on a BR? I have lived in low sec in Placid for months and never got caught in a Crane. That is without using the MWD + Cloak trick. I don't even bother with a Crane. I am nearly uncatchable using the MWD + cloak trick in my Bustard hauling 39k m3.
So what is your point? That the MWD + Cloak trick is necessary? Because Devs have said its not an intended game mechanic.
Or that there is some other way that when a BR gets its align time nerfed to hell they will still be uncatchable?
Please elaborate.

What is all this fud about the tanking bonus never being used?
My crane has no problems at all, you just need to get the digital booster rockets.

I suppose the one's whining about the br's beeing to hard to catch are lowsec pirates by the look on their posts. Well....if the br's are getting that much slower as it looks like on the testserver they wont be used. You can just as well pack the stash in a itty5 (whitch gives you ALOT more cargospace) and make that last scouted/escorted jump into highsec. "But why only 1 jump Branko will ask?" Answer: Because it will be jumped with a Carrier/JC into lowsec from 00. Nobody will risk transporting their goods in a BR that works like a normal industrial with a smaller cargospace.

Why would I get a 2nd account, or another player's assistance and an 8 billion ISK ship to transport 4,000 m3 through low-sec?
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Because that way it might get there?
At the moment, BRs in empire are only vulnerable to the best remote-boosted HIC/Gallante recon camps, so it's viable to use them in lo-sec. If they're going to take ~5 seconds to warp, then any BC with a sensor booster will catch them. And kill them. And take your stuffs.
Thus you will need to scout and/or escort them, in which case you might as well use a T1 industrial that can carry 5x as much, and make fewer journeys.
The whole point of a blockade runner is that it's fast enough to evade most gate camps without needing a scout or escort (in empire, anyway - 0.0 is different).
On the bright side, I can fly a cargo-expanded Pilgrim now, which has a smaller cargo, but will be even harder to catch, with the additional benefit of being able to deal with a lone HIC who gets lucky. So I will adapt, lo-sec pirates will not get my stuffs.

This would happen as I finish training another account for Blockade Runners...
I guess that jump into Frulegur with loads of faction mods for sale in 0.0 won't be quite as easy anymore. What with the pirates aligned to the gate just off grid so that the gate looks clear to an untrained scout... not that I mind that they are there. It adds a little bit of excitement to what is otherwise a trip to the mailbox.
What I would mind is if they didn't have to work hard to get me. I have carried enough stuff into Frulegur that if I had lost even one BR it would have set me back for months (and made some very happy pirates). When you make enough trips and enough jumps, the odds will eventually catch up with you. That's why they shouldn't make it any easier on the pirates. And that's where it looks like these changes are taking us.
A smart, well-fitted, max-skilled BR pilot should be able to avoid most low sec gate camps. Perhaps what needs to change is what defines max-skilled. I wouldn't mind if BRs were less agile with base skills, if they had a bonus that with Transport Ships IV they were almost as agile and with TS V they were more agile. ------------

I am looking for a good 0.0 corp/alliance. Convo if interested. |

My point was that there isn't really a load that small that would be worth all of that effort. BRs currently fill the role of safely transporting meager amounts of cargo through dangerous space without needing assistance and I'd hate to see them end up not being useful for that any longer. I'd go back to using my Daredevil or Crow for low-sec hauls of valuable stuff like I used to, because there's really no excuse to undock with small cargo in a ship that you know is likely to pop.
Still waiting for the complaints to come in about interceptor hauling since they can carry the most valuable stuff in game much safer than a BR (deadspace mods, blueprints, piles of salvage etc) and using the exact same tricks. Is this broken / unbalanced / deserving of nerf? Waiting...
