So a few of us stay logged in longer then we normally to to see if we can take down a few of them for some fun and whatever prizes it has in it's belly.
Freighter One: Hours go by and then low and behold the first freighter shows up and jumps into the system we are in. We warp to the gate from our warp in all very excited. During mid jump we see that the first freighter pilot had logged off in the middle of the jump. We wait 45 seconds then one minute then 5 minutes goes by and the ship had totally just vanished. We had scouts and tracked the freighter and the pilot.
Freighter Two: 10 minutes had past since the first freighter and our scouts had been tracking the second freighter that didn't delay at all warping to the gate and again jumping into the system we were staging in. Again we warp to the gate but this time not as excited because we were expecting the worst. Again the pilot logged mid jump but a little later then the other pilot so we saw with our eyes the freighter go into emergency warp. We flew towards the freighter while spamming the lock button on it over and over and over. All we got was this msg...
08:40:43 Notify Interference from the warp ==(__.__)== IV is preventing your sensors from getting a target lock on them.
The freighter warped off and vanished off scan.
Freighter Three: Freighter three came just one minute or so after freighter two vanished off scan, the pilot logged again but this time we were able to lock it and shoot the freighter. Even tho we had it scrambled with a heavy interdictor it warped off when it was in half armor. Thinkin we had agro so the freighter should stay on scan for 15 minutes all we have to do it probe it out...
Wrong, it vanished right away off scan...
Another thing is I have read about this before in this thread...

Yet that thread got locked and it doesn't make any sense since this has to be a exploit and people are using it more and more. We even were not able to kill a kronos that we spent 4 hours tracking down to kill.
Why is this happening in eve???
Back in the day when you shot something it would stay in system for 15 minutes, this is how it should be now...

Because it's what we, the playerbase want. Not you personally, or me, come to that, but the majority of EvE subscribers are now PvE grinders who believe that PvP should be optional. Bear subs > PvPer subs.
These where freighters doing logistics for a pvp alliance. They are not carebears. This is how we ended up with the intel in the first place.
Carebears have the option to stay in high sec...

the more techincal details are simple.
as u say he logs in the midle of jumping. the server recrods the jump and will carrie that out. the client disconnects and stops handeling messages. sends its last bb cya later msg. the ship ends up on the other end in buble. and thats not yet agression. server sees client is gone and looks, hey do we have agression... no okay then the normal 30 second log should be activated :)
freighter warps or disapears.
we did this with a freighter 2 :) its a well known trick used by carebears that panic and after seeing 20 guys do this to you you just adapt and assimilate.
its even more fun if u know that the agression timer that runs with the log system is disabled after jumping. so when you jump you are agro free to log.
fight on one side, deagress jump and log. this actualy can get your account stuck in space. ive seen myself with my alt in space many times. tho if it occurse you lose your ship this way will get reimboursed quickly.
unfair who cares, continue whineing..
I think I have the right to whine about this. This means even myself can roam 0.0 with any ship and never die. But I won't do this because it makes the whole game completely pointless. Whats gonna happen if you can no longer carebear building ships cause no one loses them?

or simply head to the belts and activate your mining lasers -> instant profit!
The third freighter we did get agro but it still vanished...

You could ofc try chribbas idea, have a tiny little frigate, something with a smartbomb close to the gate also this ship should != blinky. mwd up to freighter that is aligning to warp, hit smartbomb and scram freighter for good measure to stop its aligning if the pilot isnt quickthinking. Should give it aggro and by this time your drake(or other point that freighter with decent locktime and sentrytank) should already be in warp, landing on the gate as the frigate goes kapoosh from sentries, taking over the lock and ??? profit.
I think I'd try to circumvent a freighter logoffski that way atleast O_o
Well thanks for the tip I think I will try that, but I still think this is an exploit...

wel there are far whorse exploits out there.
this one holds exelent safety guidelines. it is to prevent you from loseing ships when you crash.
i got lag spike while folowing hostile gang and my recon went to emergency warp. 10 to 20 seconds lateri managed to load it and it sayed stoping emergency warp. you are being warp scram...
happy now ? game machanics killed my ship :p

Wow I didn't realize titan pilots where using this exploit as well... Pritty crazy when everyone in eve starts using this tactic.

LOL wow, I just tested this out on the test server and it seems I can lock down and scram my freighter even when I logged off first. So I'm at a loss on how they are pulling this off...
