Originally by: LaVista Vista I believe that Dr. EyjoG said at one point that in terms of economics in eve, 1 month in eve = 1 year IRL.
I think he meant how fast the market changes though, kinda like the market back in wild west.

Originally by: Lance Fighter Well... combat in todays world takes way too short...
wouldn't it be cool if in eve all ships got a huge 300% increase to hull hp and then they add in 4 targetable functions. Each however you take still deals damage to the function and the structure hp. so you wouldn't even have to think about it unless you wanted to.
-weapons/highslots all one target -natural charge cap and charge shields regen -ability to move at all, would include warping -ability to use self destruction
However make it so these can not be repaired. However add another feature that allows people to salvage a ship that is in space with no one piloting it. no matter as long as it's taken structure damage.
Now ad in one final thing, playerships which are brought down to 0 structure hp do not leave a wreck, and add visable damage so when you get to 30% (at which point you can't do anything even if the player attacking didn't target the functions they would all still take damage at random or in a row, it shows a wreck like a capital ship does but you don't have to get out of the ship if you don't want to.
At this point you would be allowed to salvage the ship even with the player left in it.
This would make combat take longer by a good chunk, and allow for players to really mess with other.
This could lead way to capturing other players ships. also the amount of slavage you get would be increased if you salvage a ship with more structure hp.

Quote: Precision targeting, allowing the ability to target subsections of a ship (engines/mid slots, turrets/hislots, hull systems/loslots), gives commanders the option to disable a ship, which has a much larger impact on the battlefield than a simple destruction. Not only can a disabled ship be 'captured' and claimed, wholesale, to be drug back to a station for repairs (forcefully ejecting the pilots pod and requiring a 'wrecker' of some sorts), but it also lowers the effectiveness of the gang it's within, whereas a wreck (destroyed ship) does not. This hinderance is due to the ship requiring the protection of it's gang mates, and the only option of the commander of that gang would be to eject the player from the gang, signaling that he's been 'left behind'. This gives commanders a reason and the ability to hinder a superior opponent with well-coordinated attacks, while also offering a new level of piracy and 'reward' for PvP.
Big issue with this mate, If you make it complacated instead of like in my post ship systems and instead make it modules, or are you saying 3 targetable spots, high, med, low?
ALso when should this happen? once shields are down? what then about armor tankers? once armor is down? what then happens to hull tanks? Right now combat is far too fast. In my mind the ship it'self should be hard to blow away 100% without some work, the shields and armor should be protecting the important parts, but the hull itself should be what prolongs combat and keeps ships in the battle.
Combat can be short but for capture the final part battle, the strurture part, needs to be turned intoa whole new gameplay.

Originally by: Karentaki Wrong, EVE DOES NOT run in real time. I believe there was a thread before proving that in fact time in eve runs in a randomised fashion such that sometimes you can talk to someone from the future or past as if it was real time.
wouldn't that be something if eve worked like real space and when you warp, you come out 2 weeks further in the game? Muhahahaha programer hell
also gravity should slow and speed up time
