Originally by: Joey Meow Oh, and the unfulfilled "Small Tractor Beam BPO" nerf, where some bought millions worth of BPOs and CCP did no increase the price, and then there were tears.
What was extra funny about that is that before the patch notes announced they were going to go up in price, I was already buying the BPOs for 18,000 isk and reselling them for 1m isk on escrow because they weren't visible on the market in all regions. After the patch notes lots of other people bought heaps of them, and I bought about 20m of them and still made about 2b isk profit selling them despite the fact that the price increase never went through. I just couldn't understand the tears TBH.

isn't it?
Most of what killed lowsec was when the drone regions came in and zyd/nocx/iso dropped all lowsec minerals are worth less than highsec minerals. So no one is going to go there to mine when you get the same for no risk in highsec. Lowsec belts for ratting are useless compared to missions etc. Until FW there was no real reason to go to lowsec unless you were on the way to 0.0/cap building or actively looking for a fight. And there's still no reason to go there for mining/ratting.

Nos nerf and drone nerf. Drone nerf being Dominix and Moros amongst other ships that lost its capability to launch 10 drones or more at the same time.

Who's been here a while and can chime in on the history of Eve's changes/nerfs? Which one was the most overblown and far from game-killing? Keep in mind that just because there are more players and posters now, that doesn't mean it's more dramatic.
I loved how cyvock and is merry men whined to CCP change how a lone corporation could declare war on alliances .And CCP give in .
That was priceless. ------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Ikvar on 07/08/2008 11:23:02 Probably the insurance fiasco where all those people had their ships returned.
Edit:
The removal of mines.
The missile nerf that came in with Cold War (had great fun killing Ravens for weeks after that because half the Raven pilots were too stupid to realise anything had changed).
EW being changed to chance based rather than 'beat their sensor strength'.
The stacking nerf.
Multiple MWD/AB nerf.
Cruise in standard/torp in heavy nerf.
There are too many really.

The original drone nerf had a fair share of moans, but the best one for me was the concord boost. ________________________ Lord WarATron:

I remember the WTZ whines, I even reference it in one of my sigs despite supporting that change. Nos, ofc. Privateers was one of my personal favourites, both its existence and ner***e. The addition of EVE-Voice caused a lot of the "I don't want it therefore it shouldn't be done/it will fail" whines we see for Ambulation now, that was fun. -

The key to survival with sanity intact is to shake off the deafening cries of despair of those who cannot grasp the concept of an MMO being everchanging.
That being said the latest whine always ring the loudest.

These would be my favourites :). I guessed at the POS change and made a killing off it. The best part was that I spotted the NPC sale prices were steadily increasing and checked the escrow default price. The escrow default price said 400m for a large tower, meaning 400m was the NPC base price but the npc market sell price was barely over 200m. Rather than selling as part of the massive post-patch rush, I waited until prices hit 340 each and made a killing :D.
I still have 100 tractor beam bpos, too :p. They're in a hanger to remind me not to make silly purchases like that :p.

Drama, DRAMA...has everyone forgotten how many times the servers use to crash, the death threats to ccp if they didnt get the servers rebooted in the next 30 mins (i think the devs always use to say server be back up in 30 mins!!) forums use to be blazing in the good ol days, of the unstable servers

the changes they are making wont bankrupt CCP. not at all.. Its making EVE more main stream. Buts thats a fickle crowd and those that came here for the niche game will either stay, (as they have so much invested into eve) or at somepoint think thats enough, breaking point for me.. and quit
and a new shiney game like Infinity will come along and whisk away the new fickle crowd - THEN CPP will be in trouble.
Wont be an immediate thing following such changes, but it will a result of the effects some time later. Vote against the nano nerf! http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=832371

I remember a lot of people doing 0.0 logistics getting upset about the Compression nerf, when certain T1 modules could be manufactured for transport and later reprocessed to volume ratios of 5:1 up to 50:1. Passive Targeters were one of the hardest hit, though I remember several other mods simply being too big to loot from missions anymore. //// ---------=== []= ---------=== \\\\ Rifter(RedBad)

My reaction is that most so called "pvper" on this forum are more interested in seeing high sec players a have a bad time(which ussually means they quit and find a new game) than they are in seeing changes that would encourage the high sec players to venture into low sec.
Look at all the defenders of "suicide ganking" - its conceptually its horrible game play. The gankers weigh the odds and over time they make a profit - the ganked have no way to respond to the situations when they occur and end up leaving the game.
PVPers should be begging for MUCH high low sec mission rewards so the PVEers will believe the profit is worth the risk of going there. PVPers shouldnt be chanpioniong a stupid gank method like high sec suicide.

Funny how I have moved tens of billions through hi sec and never been suicde ganked. Biut then I take steps to avoid it
You can also reducde your gank risk in missions by 100 fold if you take precautions. BUT its the ones that dont want to, dont know how, or are to lazy that get ganked. THATS whats we are kicking up a stink about. Pirates are the natural selection process in EVE. You toughen up and adapt, learn to play or die.
Its this that is getting removed.
Its SO hard to gank a mission runner who takes the correct precautions. but over the 40 or so I have had a hand in libertaing, only 2 took any real steps in protecting themselfs. AND after tehy spotted us, they came back to teh mission in an eager rush to get it finihsed and lost their ships anyways. - it was greed for that sec gain that got em.
I have seen a good few we ~COULDNT get, as they used the scanner, back scouts, and can drops to spot our gang, scouts etc - and gtfo as soon as it seemed fishy.
Most people piping up have never ganked or been ganked and enjoy reguritating other peoples tripe.

For me ... gotta be: Warp to zero
If the forum whiners were to be belived, eve should now be dead and gone. Piracy is dead ... PVP is dead, etc.. etc.. blah blah blah.
It wasen't just the pirates emo rage quitting though ... omg the bookmark sellers cried emo tears of pain on the forums too.

They were doubled overnight and then npc prices increased slowly up to around four times their original value.
