I was thinking about people posting chat logs on here and realized that it is almost irrefutable and a very easy channel for slander. After a chat log is posted the community chimes in (usually with verbal abuse/ in game threats) long before the defence either can answer or does answer (because remember not everyone goes to EO-F) and when they do they have no proof that they didn't say anything like that.
Example:
Element 22 > Hey there Chibbra Chibbra > Why you little <insert racist+sexist+general bigotry tirade> Element 22 > Well oh my *fans self*!
Now that isn't real. It was satire. In fact one of the reasons I didn't construct a fake post to begin with is because people seem to be having a hard time telling satire from slander.
I know most of you can, but this was for those of us who didn't know that the cartoon of Obama terrorist fist jabbing his wife who is holding a gun in the oval office while the American flag burns and Osama bin Laden's picture is on the wall was satire. Seriously...
Might I suggest a simple phrase to call moderators to a post where the logs can be verified so libel and slander will be kept to a minimum.
I'd like to also beg Chibbra's forgiveness because he has never done such a thing (we've never even been in the same system I believe) and only choose him for those who have a deficiency of critical reading skills and are missing their funny bone; don't worry guys, one day medical science may be able to help you, just keep on walking. Signatures are annoying...kinda like me. |

Given the utterly brain-dead, completely unjustifiable slander that the far right flings at Obama, and given the shit quality of corporate media, one could be forgiven for not immediately identifying that cover as merely satirizing those positions.
Sorry that I'm a bit irritable lately, its just that I'm just so damn angry that Chibbra had a vile, perverted three-way between himself, my girlfriend, and my sister. Honestly after something like that it's just too hard to get intimate with said girlfriend again, so we had to break up. DAMN YOU CHIBRRA I AM COMING AFTER U IRL

When I see a chatlog, satire or otherwise, I most often hit the back button and go to another thread. From past experience, it is usually a chat with someone who doesn't normally post on the forums and is therefore unable to post in their own defence. Even if they do post a response, it usually ends up in either a flame war or simply a denial and boils down to one persons word against another. Only CCP could post the real chatlog but they would not get involved and either lock the thread or just ignore it as others tend to do.
Anyone can edit a chatlog to make other players look like complete a-holes, totally stupid or both. Since everyone who posts here knows that, more often, posts with chatlogs don't get much of a response. Those that do normally involve heated topics like macros and the emphasis is more on hitting out at macros than what exactly was said.
-- There's a simple difference between kinky and perverted. Kinky is using a feather to get her in the mood. Perverted is using the whole chicken. |

Rules states that names other than your own must be edited out. Usually the ones that have resulted in much lulz is when the victim perpetratorperson talked about ends up unmasking himself in the thread and further making asses of themselves

Why would an american news channel feel the need to counter the bias of a foreign news organization? And how does that the "terrorist fist bump" even relate to any bias except the alleged bias of Fox News?

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 23/07/2008 21:05:32 The BBC is about a hundred times more informative than the majority of American television news. They also actually have meaningful conversations between people of differing viewpoints that don't just devolve into namecalling within five minutes (like what happens whenever MSNBC has Buchanan on to talk issues with anybody slightly to the left of Torquemada.) I've been living in Ireland for the past five weeks (with basic cable only, which carries the BBC instead of Irish news) and that's my assessment of the BBC after having had this time to compare it with news from the States.
Still prefer the progressive blogosphere, but the BBC hasn't really disappointed in terms of quality.

And any print publication is probably a hundred times more informative than most television shows simply because of the extra speed at which you can absorb information via print.

Omg like CNN, lolABC and lolCBS arent in the tank for Obama and have been since day 1. The simple TRUTH is, if Obama was a white dude with his track record and (lack of) experience and flaky friends then he never would have made it to the primaries. Corp media with very few exceptions have an AGENDA and it's certainly not objective news.
