Edited by: PuncherDavis on 22/07/2008 04:34:07 I am going to rant rave and carry on for about 30 lines of text.. IF ur a troll ur a moron but here we go..
GO to sell an iteron 5 at eram...Look at prices states 1,050,000 isk and above it thier is a guy looking to buy one for a billion isk..
I click on the one below it and then get freeze lag when i got to purchase it and its says its like 0.17 below market value..
I hit the button.. AND dont ask me how its buys the billion isk iteron 5
I did this once before with a shuttle exact same dam scenario and payed 539 million is and trust me I watch all my screens now ..I dont drink im wide awake and it said 1 million 50k for that iteron 5.. Had a buddy just bought a shuttle for 450 million and he aint no dummy and had the same issue... No warning popped up nothing to say it was way over priced and he was lagged spiked as well.
ONE time ill say shame on me i accept it.. 2nd time im saying CCP fix your stupid numbers issuse and come up with a HUGE warning box letting people know they are purchasing something that is HUGLEY over priced.. I know that this guy aint gonan give the isk back as it was a corp purchase i cant even get the name of the guy that bought it..
I could petition it under lag issue which i will do but I dont know what that is going to do...THIS is something that is an issue and has been and the stories ive heard make mine look pathetic in comparison. But either way it was my isk for the SECOND time in a row and I think its pathetic the way the market shows things ..Excel spreadsheet shows things better as far as im concerned.
IM not flaming the person who did the sell order they are taking advantage of a system that is in place. Im mad at ccp because LAG and yes i been playing enough years to know what lag is screwd this up and with no warnings to boot.. and no i dont have that box turned off...
SO i say we start a petition... IF you think that this is broken please say so here.
If your here to say can i have ur stuff....insert large amounts of colorul language for what u can do to urself here.
IF your here to flame read the last line above and insert even more launguage
IM again not mad at the person that put the order in to buy it.. IM mad that CCP has such a screwd up system of making sure things are in place to warn buyers... ANY MARKET worth a dam is going to do that...and mine did nothing.

How did you manage to BUY an iteron when you are trying to SELL? How did you manage to buy an iteron for 1bil ISK when it was a BUY ORDER for 1bil ISK?
Right Click - Sell Item gets you NOWHERE near the market window...
Even supposing you somehow managed to do whatever you were talking about in the OP, Everyone has a built in warning system: common sense. Lag+market orders = not a good idea.
Seriously, 1/10 for the troll.

Valuable hauler is valuable...definitely warrants T2 rigs on it now. Honestly though, I think you messed up a second time. See what happens when you petition it as it should be pretty straight forward for a GM to sort out if there was an error in the market.

Looks like I'm the first to call bullshit on this one.
I seriously doubt the buy window is coded to accept price values on one item and have the buy button linked to another. Devs can easily confirm this.
A database query would give the price, item info, and order #. This is all stored together and never broken up in the way you suggest that would make it possible for another item's order # to be paired with a different item's information.
You either screwed up and didn't check the price and are now flat out lying about it, or you sold some isk.

Eh like i said was do dam mad i got my buys and sells all screwed up//
Once again if i was trolling this aint the way to do it so shove off to another thread eh,.
I WAS looking to BUY an iteron 5 the other person had an ITERON 5 for SALE at a BILLION isk.. thier is that better.
ALso despite what people thing the system does **** up at times trust me I WATCH it do it all the time as I trade non stop in eve with people for things mins etc.
I know a fubar markt transaction when it happens IVE had it happen before on smaller transactions where u go to buy something for 5k isk and u end up paying 10k isk but its such a small amount u dont sweat it.
CCP aint gonna come out and say its all perfect they aint that stupid or gullible..
Its even more stupid for u to think somehow its perfect just because u cant understand how it might not work the way its supposed to..
SO u go troll elsewhere and i hope u choke on ur words at some time

Ahahhahahah, I just love it when stupid people come to confess about their stupidity but make up some bullshit excuse to try and make it sound as if it wasn't their fault. If CCP would listen to all these people in denial, EVE would be WoW...

Yeah, lag sure sucks in situations like this!
My way round it is to have the columns in the market sorted by the cheapest at the top for sell orders, and most expensive at the top for buy orders. So it means I might have to travel a few jumps, better than being conned IMO.
So far this has served me well.

I send most of my isk and otherwise really valuable assets (that I don't use) to a trade character I made on the same account.
Works wonders for avoiding situations like the op's and in the case you DO drink, besides the fact that you'd probably be too drunk to remember you moved your stuff to your alt, you'd hopefully be too drunk to reenter your password to relog, and then too drunk to figure out how to send them back to your main.
In that regard, it'd be kinda nice if there were a function to disallow contracts to be made *from* a character you own... ---

1. This is why we have precautions such as keeping most of our is on an alt
2. Because of the current market systems, the money still went to the person who sold the ship for cheapest. You can look at market transactions journal for the characters name and eve-mail them about what happened. If you're lucky they'll return some or most of the money. (if you bought from me I would'nt) ---

I think its pathetic that a person should have to travel a few jumps so that scammers dont show up as sellers or go to a different region where you know they aint thier..
You have adapted to the situation but that still means the overall interaction of the market needs to be fixed.. not run away from

Although the above is an option I has just moved funds over to make a large purchase of items...I should not have to worry about how much isk I have on an account if thier are windows that WORK as intended to inform the player that they are about to get hose..
Once again a work around but not FIXING the screwed up market interface..I can work around lots of things...FIX THE DAM INTERFACE is what im getting at

Personally, I think that you just hit the wrong buy order and want to get an easy out by having CCP reverse the transaction.
In three years of playing EVE, I've never, not once, been ripped off by the market or had anything like that happen.
And think of scamming as intellectual PvP - if you don't like it, there are many other MMOs out there. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

No if Id hit the wrong BUY order the and I went to buy it a BIG FAT box would have come up to say HEY LOOK its way the hell over priced...IT DIDNT..
IM GONNA PUT THIS IN CAPS>>>THE BOX IS TURNED ON AND IT NEVER EVER Showed up...clicking the wrong one yeah ive done that to make sure the price was really wacked out but clicking on the POP up box to BYPAss the ludicrous seller NOPE not once in 5 years have i done that thanks.
In three years of playing EVE, I've never, not once, been ripped off by the market or had anything like that happen.
Big deal so your always works likes its supposed to and the box pops up...WHAT part of what im saying are you not understanding. How many posts or testimonials from other people do i need. Do I need to get a list of people to state their is a problem that tbh has a really simple fix. This fix bypasses the market settings or going around to a different system or hey even having lag screw you up...And im not the only one its happend to thats the sad part.
And think of scamming as intellectual PvP - if you don't like it, there are many other MMOs out there.
Scamming..I never said a dam thing about scamming.. GO read my post u idiot before u post stupid stuff like that.. I said the DAM box needs to be bigger fatter and in your face and HEY have no TURN off switch (mine aint but have no idea what happened). I also said that I have nothing against the person who put the SELL ORDER UP FOR BILLIONS..they are using a game mechanic (which i think is BS but this is EVE which has various levels of BS) so I got no issues with them personally.. ITS the interface thats screwd up<<<Read that again and again and again...

Actually, the guy you bought it from was the cheapest Iteron seller, given 1 billion ISK for it. He's just an innocent bystander basically given the windfall for your mistake, unless he has both the cheapest and most expensive order for said hauler.
You can try to petition it in hopes that it is a bug, but its pretty much a 99% chance you made a mistake and hit the wrong order.

Yeah id agree it does SUCK if the BOX pops up and hey I agree to pay a BILLION isk for a ONE million isk ITEM. People have complained over and over about how a word text is needed (like contracts) to help avoid stupid market situations.
I dont see why the pop up box for any buy or sell could not have that implemented.. I know its just scrapping info off the current big screen buy and sell but the truth is that could be modified.
I also dont see why a MUCH bigger box could not be put in place that REQUIRES you to insert into a check box YES i want to buy this at the inflated PRICE (gabillion isk) and then hit enter.. What are they afraid that by doing this people might actually quit falling for the huge scams that are out their.( but in this case scams are a small part of the issue the buy going through taking away my decision making process is the big deal)
Does this somehow make the game play more streamlined and the person spending 100's of hours a month making and playing the game the ability to make a INFORMED decision. Does it?
Does this also prevent freaking LAG spikes for completly bypasing or not showing up at all..Person lags hits the ok button on the buy order just to fine out HEY you hit ok on the its a massively overpriced item box...Stick that check box in thier and avoid that.
Also why are we making people do a find location on an item for sale in the market and doing 3 different database Inquries just to find out if its a low sec system that you are going to buy from.
Why dont we have a small colume or an area next to the name of the system that states its name and sec status it is in. Hell imagine the drop in database queries for that.
Also I think if ccp does modify the market they are afraid people might hold them liable for a huge amount of transactions that took place and admit that the market interface was screwed up in the first place. So maybe instead of making it work better they are saving face.
I dont know but I do know this needs fixed and has for a long long time

Funny, there is such a box in the game last time I checked, but you can turn it off. Are you sure you didn't just do that?

Because this is not WoW, and the game should not stick a pacifier in your mouth and change your diapers for you. If you don't pay attention to the numbers you're putting in a buy/sell order, you should be punished appropriately.

That would be nice. We can't say for sure if it would reduce queries because we don't know how the database is structured but I bet that the system name and it's security status are in the same table.
