Nobody has yet come up with the idea that's been rattling around in my brain since the boards started getting flooded with "nano whiners"...
Pilotable fighters.
A ship, similar in size to a shuttle (i.e smaller than a frigate) that's capable of fitting small weapons and/or a limited range of modules.
The idea being that they'd be difficult to hit with anything bigger than another fighter or a small drone but would be a lot quicker & more manouverable than current ships - allowing them to chase down nano's and possibly (assuming they could be fitted with the required modules) scram or web the target.

To be honest, I'd like to see some Corvette class ships.
Salvage corvettes based on ships about the size of destroyers (with new models obviously), but more durable that can be used solely for salvage and looting.
Repair corvettes, again, roughly the size of a destroyer, agile, beefy defense and fast for use with interceptor and assault frigate gangs as a mini logistics ships.
I'd also like to see a new class of T1 transport, somewhere between the freighter and standard industrials we have now, maybe about 300,000m3 of space, based on a new hull that could be priced a round 4-450m and give smaller corporations the transport boost they need without having to shell out a billion for a freighter.
The list goes on, I can think of hundreds more uses for t1 ships that would be viable, and bring something to the game.

I don't know why you would call ships that are destroyer size "Corvettes" though. Corvettes in real life are smaller than frigates.

Well, 21,000 years into the future, in a completely different star cluster to our own, billions of lightyears away, after the complete and utter catastrophic collapse of society and it's slow recovery over the last 15 millenia... some, just some might say... that the people desiging spacecraft really don't need, or have much knowledge of classification when it comes to putting names to ship groups...
I mean, it's a long shot... but maybe.

Well, it seems they do since everything else in Eve, aside from Capitals, works the same as for real life naval combat vessels (or at least naval vessels from the first half of the last century).
Frigates Destroyers Cruisers Battlecruisers Battleships
A Corvette would be more like a mini-frigate, if you're staying consistent with what we allready have. And it's not like the ships you had in mind absolutely would have to be called Corvettes, you know?

Thanks for the comments, guys.
Quote: They added the Magnate to the amarr frigate line with EA
I said combat ships, but yes the Magnate was a nice addition.
Quote: Also the Drake and all its counter parts are T1
That's been about two years ago since those were added.
Ok, so the general feeling I'm getting: -Most want new ships -Most are not opposed to new T1 ships -about half want new T1 ships -everyone has their own ideas as to what would improve the game, some good, some are a little...how can I put this...strange.

All capital ships were allready in the game when I started playing Eve a year and a half ago. I don't actually even know when they were added. So, hardly a recent thing.
The last big batch of tech 1 ships came at the end of the fall of 2006 with Revelations I (right when I started), and that was the tier 2 battlecruisers and tier 3 battleships. Trinity, at the end of last year, gave us a big batch of new tech 2 ships. My guess would be that this fall's expansion will bring new tech 1 ships.

another tier 1 battleship for each race another tier 1 battlecruiser for each race, perhaps a logistics flavor tier 3 destroyers with a unique flavor another tier 3 tech 1 frigate for each race, perhaps a bomber

I'd like to see some new and interesting forms of electronic warfare than currently exist, two varieties for each race. For example:
Minmatar Sensor Reflectors - reduces the signature radius of the target ship
Amarr Missile Scramblers - Reduce velocity and explosion radius of missiles
Caldari Graviton Projectors - Increases the mass of the target ship
Gallente Thrust Feedback Generator - Reduces the agility of the target ship
That's just stuff I came up with off the top of my head, but with that you could come up with 12 ships (frigate, cruiser, battleship) of each race specializing in that form of e-war. Or maybe you could do something different and create destroyer and BC versions instead... ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

lawl. reduce velocity and radius of missiles? the first nerfs damage, but only on fast ships, the second will ensure MORE damage.

Quoting the first interesting idea in the thread.
The -sig radius and -mass/agility mods were both tested on CCPs internal testing servers and never even made it to Sisi afaik which means they are superpowerful or CCP just thought they'd unbalance the game.
I REALLY like the anti-missile ewar. Currently there is no anti-missile ewar. It is pretty biased that you can wtfpwn a turret ship with 1-2 TDs but missiles no way. Defender missiles are in the game but are lol dumb. --

It does seem odd to me that there are no tier two destroyers.
I would like to see more of them, especially now there are the faction warfare complexes where destroyers get to be the big fish.
A possible sugestion as to a bonus for them: Smart bomb range; smart bombs are best as an anti frigate weapon, the main role for destroyers is that of anti frigates. And small smartbombs would need a LOT of loving to be useful. Such as a specialised ship class.

Just think: Caldari Tier 4 BS 7 Hi, 7 Med, 6 Low 5x Launcher, 1x Turret 850cpu, 17500pg 10K shields, 7.5K armor 8K struct No Dronebay
Ship Bonus: 90% PG Reduction bonus on Capital Hybrid Turrets (?) 500% Capital Hybrid damage, 85% Tracking Penalty (?)
Bonuses: 5% Missile ROF per level 25% Shield Transporter range and transfer amount per level
...essentially a Raven, only swap the Dronebay for a Dread Gun and design it for spidertanking. Idea being you could take only a handful of them against a carrier and have a pretty damned good chance of winning
Also makes attacking cyno-jammed systems slightly easier. ...

I want something that actually uses the advanced spaceship command skill.
a whole skills jsut for one goddamn shiptype (freighter) and as timesink is useless.
give us 3 different types of advanced spaceships right between caps and bs.
something like a capital siced destroyer (would be the equivalent to frigs; cap guns with tracking bonus so they can hit bs and a bs sized tank. a medium sized ship which is in generall a bs MK2 but costs more and is even less agile and easily hitable by real cap guns (cruiser equivalent) and a capital-hunter ship (prolly with a weaker 2-5 minute timed siege mode).
ohh and to not make them not replace BS for fleets only the capital hunter (with guns whicha r eunable to really do damage to supcaps) should be able to use gates while the rest has to utilize a jump-engine as well (but with bigger range than even carrier as they should be more agile than caps).

Waiting 6 hours for the enemy fleet to load wouldnt be much fun though.
