Looks like the forums won't go down with every downtime then. Thats good.
Not so exciting news otherwise as this seems to involve only the web-services and nothing to do with fixing lag in-game.

"web-based gaming", WTF?
But hey, the largely obsolete info(*) on eve-online.com will be more accessible, great. ;-P

it is the largest mate, it's got 8 times the number of players on the server at a time than any other MMO. Thus it doesn't have the most players, but it is the largest muliplayer online game.

I would dispute that, because there are games with only a single iteration of the world (unlike WoW etcs parallel worlds), but with it broken over many servers. So it may be the largest server, but not the largest game. But still, nice to get a bit of shiny =D

This part made me LOL, especially the part about being able to support 100k concurrent users. Lies. At 42,000 the game environment flirts with crashing nodes and unplayable content.
"EVE" has had more than 42,000 concurrent players in the same virtual world and can support up to 100,000 players in real time. Similar multiplay online games usually achieve around 1,000 concurrent plays in a single scenario. ------------------------------------------------- **** You're out of your mind!

It can probably handle 100k people just fine, as long as everyone stops piling into Jita all at once…

Well it can, it's just that 80% seem to hang out in the same areas. If one node can comfortably support 400 people, you only need 250 to support 100,000. I think CCP has that many nodes...
Also, maybe I've missed the point but what is this article actually about? To me it just seemed like "CISCO is doing stuff for CCP!" ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.81 (Updated 4/8) |

depending on what they do with it and current architecture it might mean better speeds and less pressure on CPU, as ACE takes over some of its' jobs.
i'm not gonna go into details, but in general, yes. it might mean quicker server, not only www.
