Hi,
i m still a rookie and i lost my second raven in a week doing lvl 4 with a friend. We always read mission summerys with details who is scrambling... hm, but it seems that these summeries are not so good, i got scrambled from other ships too :(
Have u any tips for me ?? Should we always destroy all frigates first or do other shipclasses scramble too in LVL 4 missions ??

Edited by: Winter Dragon on 24/02/2008 13:35:34 I blame frigates for almost any type of jam or interference. In lvl 3 missions at least, I have found frigates to be the most annoying when it comes to e-warfare. I remove them as soon as possible.

Other ships can scramble too. Most common one is the Mercenary Overlord.
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

Upcoming changes will (hopefully) allow you to see who's scrambling/dampening/jamming you from the overview. I generally take out all the annoying frigates if it is a hard L4 mission just to make sure!

Unless it's a tower just use ur drones to kill nething within 20km of you. The scrammer/webbers will be within that range....So what were u doing with ur drones? In the drone bay at top left right click to open ur drone settings... u need to use Focus Fire and I use Passive as I use hot keys to tell drones to engage the current target..Boom target gone and if next target I have up is not the one I want I change the target and tell drones to engage that ship Booommm gone OR use Aggressive and drones will focus fire on any ship u have already targeted...Thus, it is very easy now to make sure the drones kill those nasty little frigs--I have a raven also and use the dones for this purpose and cruise for targets farther out...

Now THAT would be really cool. The barely visible beams that the scramblers emit are not reliable - specially if you get hit with graphics lag. And I dont think webbers and jammers emit any visible beams at all.

That's unusual.. About the Mercenary Overloard that is. Never had one scram me before. Always the Wingmen.
Anyway, as for hard lvl 4's, the Right hand of Zazzmataz is difficult, simply because by the time you kill the trigger, the rest of the first wave enemies finally get in range to hurt you JUUUUUST as the Shadow gang show up to web/scram/own you.
Damsel in Distress can be difficult if you accidentally trigger two waves, but other than that it's a piece of cake.
The Assault can be difficult due to heavy drone aggro. Oh, and Cargo Delivery lvl 4 against Blood Raider's is pretty painful, due to Nos's.
That's all I can remember off the top of my head...

And this "golden rule" made me gain not only room-aggro but also the successive arrival of reinforcements in two L4 missions resulting in the loss of my rokh and raven...
Sadly enough, those "tackling" frigs with web/scram often are triggers for the next wave of rats. So in "massive attack" and "Gurista extrav" - which is why I leave those bloody frigs for last.
1st: cruisers and destroyers 2nd: BSes 3rd: Frigs
I can tank 4-5 BSes easily, I do not need to warp or fly around (OK I admit, as Caldari pilot I use missiles and have no problem with range at all) - so those pesky little scrambling frigs don't bother me.

A good way to see who is scrambling you is to disable all damage notification. That way you will easily see the scrambling messages that pop up when someone scrambles you.
Or if your in a domi, you can let the sentry drones agress the scramblers. Its always funny to see a message like "Strain drone has started to warpscramble Garde II".

Yeah I forgot about the aggro element for some missions as I dont worry about aggro so much these days, I enjoy taking the whole room on at once now it gets the job done quicker, and the wrecks are all neat and quick to salvage

unless you're in motsu/saila, you really should be able to zoom in and look for the dotted blue line, showing you exactly what you need to kill asap.
as soon as frigs get w/in 20km, i start doing this periodically.
oh, and drones set on aggressive appear to stick with the class of ship you start them on. target the most threatening frigate in the spawn (assuming it's not the trigger) and then they should move on from frig to frig without your needing to target another one. frees your targeting up for the big stuff.
it's hard at the outset, but once you learn about a mission's traps first hand, you'll likely never make the same mistake again. fly safe!

Absolutely 100% correct, do you really need to see how much damage you do or how much is done to you? Turn off all damage messages, reduce lag and see if you can warp out.

I must be lucky.
In the 2 years ive played eve, I have never lost a ship to anything other then a human being....
I have been scrammbled in missions, but its always been frigates as far as I have noticed.
I kill frigates first, because in level 4's, the battleship with the unique name, and highest bounty always tends to be the trigger.
Ever since I started killing smallest to largest (in my drake) I fly through level 4's with ease.
What amazes me is how little dps it takes to bring down a 1.2 mil isk bounty battleship, and how little dps a room full will do to a drake My views and opinions are my own, not my corp or alliances.
