Originally by: Tar om The arguement that "WE ARE CREATING THE LAG LETS CUT OURSELVES" is just stupid. WE are playing the game that CCP wrote. Nowhere does it say that you're limited to 400 in system, there is no system cap. Possibly this is because CCP don't want to have to admit that the problem is that severe, but its more likely to be because a 50:50 chance on a server roll is better than defenders keeping alts in system and just locking it when required.
BUT the most upside down thing is to blame the players for playing the game.
If you know that what you're doing (like gathering in 400+ man blobs) is going to cause the laggy environment, and then do it anyway, then you ARE to blame!
When all is said and done, it IS your action thats causing the problem! While the game should be able to handle it, we all know it doesn't. If you didn't blob, there'd be no problem.
Sorry, you can't escape your part of the blame that easily.
Since we all know that the game is laggy at those numbers, whining about is not the most productive thing either. CCP has acknowledged this problem plenty of times on the forums, and you're not really telling them anything new.

Your arguement would be valid if people could count on enemies not bringing blobs in the first place, blob is the only counter for blob, meaning if you dont want to lose, bring as many as you can.

They can always change pvp to max 20v20 and you all are warped to a separate server for the fight. Would that be better? Thats how pvp work in other mmorpgs.... but hey they got no lag :p

first format c:, and throw that damn windows server away? Then buy some super comp and build unix server, for start?
You're putting Unix on NTFS or Fat32
That'll go well.

but surely if you want to take on 100 people, you use 100 better ships rather than 400 crappy ships and then complain about lag?

Bringing only 1v1 odds gives whoever you're fighting the chance to expose how bad you are at the game when they beat you left, right and center.
Most people can't handle being shown they suck at the game, so for them its much safer for their ego to bring a blob and then use lag as the excuse when they get beaten anyway.

If we were not supposed to fight with more than X amount of people, then why are we able to have up to 250 people in a fleet? What possible use is there for a 250 person fleet other than fighting another 250 person fleet? Why does CCP go 'hey guys we had a fleet battle with 500 people in it, it was awesome' when events like this happen, even if it wasn't so awesome and their server was down for hours? Why is the servers inability to handle these situations that are caused by basically flawed game mechanics the players fault for attempting to play and make progress in the game?

This coming from a member of the alliance who has exploited this time and time again is pretty comedy
Your noob ships and shuttles in fleet battles have no other explanation than you trying to lag out the server. Stop playing the victim, since you're much closer to being the cause of the problem instead.

Like to post some evidence with your smack?
Also I'd like to blame you for the lag since your POS are defended. You see, if you didn't defend your POS then we could kill them with fewer ships and there would be less lag. Please unanchor all POS modules immediately and replace them with offline smalls. Kthx

All you guys fail to see the simple truth.
CCP should make Eve a Single Player game. All network lag issues solved.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did I hit a nerve there?
My observation was not aimed at anyone in particular but was a general comment on human nature as it manifests all too often in this game, but obviously you thought it matched you too well. I'm sorry for that.
EDIT: My POS (singular) is not under attack. It is in a container in high-sec empire.

It doesn't really mattter what CCP do, if they fix the current lag issues and you can fight 600 v 600, guess what?
'Bring another 600!
2400 in system and still no lag?
'Keep spamming alliance, get more peeps in system!'
Its the blob that needs sorting out. At the moment he who brings the most is probably going to win, so blob tactics win the day. Not disimilar to real warfare really...

The lag problem/node crashes is NOT a graphics issue, its an internal comms issue. You get 600+ ppl on one node, and the node is not prepared for it, its gonna lag out, or shutdown all together. There IS a potential fix in the works:

tbh since patch fleet fights are realy inpossable for me... i just go to be a target tbh.
Now if only CCP ever time thay upgraded stoped adding more stuff that takes up the cpu time thay just installed then it will get better.
No more maths stuff ccp, get big fights going well or there was no real point to allance wars . (not going to edit for being drunk)

New features don't really add to lag, actually. The only thing that potentially could would be Heat, and it's a single value among hundreds of calculations made, so it boils down to, at MOST, an increase of lag by about 1%. ---------------- Tarminic - 31 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.78.2 |
