Edited by: Considered on 16/12/2007 15:47:32 First of all, it's not like WoW or Runescape, where the guilds don't have any way to organise things like apart from the guild MOTD which is limited to so many words. The Corporation and Alliance system seems much organised and from a few clicks on the world map, I can see which territories my alliance, and friendly alliances control, and how much territory our enemies control.
Second, it also beats MMO's in the way that I feel theres more of a chain of command in EVE. On TeamSpeak, orders come down from the fleet commander to not attack so and so who's coming down in a frigate because he's getting standings later. Whereas WoW, it's just "Oh, get to level 70 and go round the horde/alliance lands killing everything you see."
Also, EVE is much more grown up and diplomatic. Diplomats from alliances chat to other alliance diplomats to negotiate territory, and I quite like that about the game. I was never one for "just kill every horde/alliance you see" on WoW. Because, in 0.0, I myself scramble and web any neutrals, let them know their intruding in our space and I will kill them. If they claim to have an alt in our alliance, I tell their ship not to move or make any escape attempts while I confirm it with my alliance. And..any hauler alt of an alliance member I feel would much rather been slown down for a few minutes than loosing all they were hauling.
Anyway, that's basically the few things which I feel EVE is better than many other MMO's. As well as the fact that most people are mature in EVE, compared to WoW, especially pirates, who I've learnt mostly honour ransoms to keep their reputation. And there hasn't really been any "LOL ZOMFG, I PWNED YOUR SHIP AND YOU PAID ME A RANSOM L0L YOU uGOT WTFPWNED".
Thank You CCP for creating such a good MMO.

It's space. I don't really know of any other MMO's who take place in space and I'm very fascinated by space so that's the biggest thing for me.

*nods* The best thing about EVE in my opinion is the fact that people actualy care about their rep, means theres alot more responsible gameplay, theres actualy not alot of difference between the age ranges that play WOW and EVE, just that poeple don't act like spoilt kids here as they know it will permanently dent their rep.

Edited by: eLLioTT wave on 16/12/2007 17:18:04 Don't remember the exact quote from Verone but i think it's:
"The reason i play EVE is so i can kill idiots like you (referring to some whining person)"
The great part is you can even kill people in highsec if you're willing to lose your ship over it :)
I don't understand how people play wow, as I understand it, any territory you take is reset at the next downtime? Can you imagine that? How stupid! |

I played EVE first because it was a space game, then because of all the emergent gameplay no safe space player driven economy blah blah blah, and now because I can't seem to quit.
I'd give WoW a go if it wasn't a cartoon set in the most cliched environment known to mankind. However even minus the cartoons and fantasy I'd still prefer it to be single player before trying it, as to the best of my knowledge WoW doesn't have any real MMOG gameplay, so its not worth a subscription. -

True, in other MMO's such as Runescape, on the forums if you made a post with "WoW" or "Other MMO" in the text, it would be locked within seconds and some mod would say "Please do not refer to other MMO's in the runescape forums"
Also..if your feeling bored next downtime, check the WOW forums and sooner or later you'll find a classic "I got ganked unfairly" thread.

Edited by: Kavol Valarius on 16/12/2007 17:30:40 I used to play Elite II: Frontier almost religiously on my ye olde Amiga 500. When I saw EVE was being released I jumped on it.
I tried to play it from launch but it didn't work with my router, so I sighed and went off to SWG instead. When I quit SWG I looked EVE back up and was overjoyed to find the routing problem solved, so I signed right up.
It's like Frontier all over again. -----

Eve is just better then any mmo simply because of the pvp. It is actually meaningful. Sure the pve in this game is pretty tedious, especially when your just wandering through random belts chaining spawns, but the pvp more then makes up for it.
