What about duel mode? Team duel mode?
Sec status where you can have duel: 0.0 -> 0.7
If above 0.5 then concord will interfere if 3rd party is trying to attack or smth.
The formal way should be like "contracts", many types of prizes. ex. both sides place money/item and winner takes it all. Or the winner can have losers ship - if less than 10% hull left = auto eject.
POD killing not allowed.
I think that this game type would make EVE much more fun for those who do not want pos war. Someone like the financial side of eve, tradeing, mission running but sometimes would like to have some pvp.
Its always pain in the a** to go in 0.0 and find for fight. You can be more than sure that 1. you get gate ganked, 2. you get nothing, 3. you get some fight but as soon you aggress, victim`s friends will pop out like popcorns.
What do other players think?

CCP ignores it because this isn't a shoot-em-up game and people need to stop trying to make it into one. If you want to fight duels you need to go back to WoW or Diablo 2.

well.. havent played wow nor diablo..
and its only loss for CCP if they ignore it.
if people get what they need = more players = good for ccp.

No... more players = bad for CCP.
The thing most of the long term EVE players like is that the regular MMO player will not stick around for longer than the length of a single Time Card. Why? Because the game doesn't pander to there every whim. This is a good thing.
CCP are not a money hungry megacorp and a lot of people seem to think that by suggesting that CCP would make more money the changes will be done right away. They won't. CCP cares that they have a unique and interesting game. It's a small company that does a damn fine job and deserves more respect than what the newbies give it.
Your idea would trivialize combat. It would make it seem normal. CCP are trying to make a believable universe here. Especially now that CCP and White Wolf are merging (White Wolf wrote World Of Darkness for those who don't know). This means they are more focused on the universe as a whole than gimmicks like "duel mode".
Remember. EVE IS NOT A COMBAT GAME OR SHOOT 'EM UP. This is just one of the many many paths you can take in EVE.

This is a good idea and it is PROVEN to work in other games, there is no reason it can't work here.

if you want to dual, goto lowsec, 0.0, or drop a can with 1 ammo in it, there you go dual mode. See it was in the game and you didnt even know it

The idea might be PROVEN in other mmo's but it doesn't automagically mean it's going to work in EVE, if you haven't noticed yet, the mechanics of this game is a little different to the ones in which it has been PROVEN in.

Or you can drop a can to duel like everyone else does.
I've seen 10 man free-for-alls done this way, that was a blast.

Ignore him Ammon, he's backing this idea because I'm not backing this idea. I spent the better part of yesterday flaming him and proving how stupid his ideas where so now he's specifically disagreeing with me to try and cause arguments. He's not worth your trouble, he's just a WOW n00b who will p*ss off back to WOW when he realizes EVE isn't going to change to fit into his ideals.

Well.. if it`s already done as you guys say then why not to make it a "formal way" of having duel/team duel with bets.
CCP is trying to make eve real-a-like as possible, thats good - but in real life we do have such events with cars, motorcycles, paintball, other sports...
we do not have to go to iraq or somewhere to find some activity/fight? do we?
I think that CCP should really put some fun factor in this game...

Tbh.. This aint a kids game.. You can actually get Game Over in this freaking game.. Let it stay this way.
Duel mode.. I still agree with the ppl saying.. Go to WOW or agree by terms with ppl to steal from a can. Ppl do this every single day in mission hubs..
I just hope it wont get to this.. The WOW 10 year old kids seems to be unstoppable. If CCP however decide to get WOW's PVE **** (draw fire or something?!) etc.. I bet more older gamers would leave and more kids to come - which is a huge loss for eve in general.

You fail to see this already.
CCP made this a PLAYER INTERACTION GAME.
Players *can* make bets on duels.
Players *can* offer awards on duels.
Players *do* offer rewards on duel.
Was in rens just yesterday and was offered a duel.
Conditions-> I win , he would buy my firetail, I lose, my firetail dies.
EvE radio host events like these all the time with rewards and sometimes teams.
EvE olympics already have these type of stuff.
You just fail to look around to see them

Even if they were to add a duel mode I would still drop a can named "Gloves" because it never gets old.

I've been offered duels before in 0.3 space and I turned then down because I would have been roasted however I went on to see that guy organize and fight out 2 duels in an asteroid belt while I was even there watching. It was cool, seeing PvP action from outside the fight, but it was still pretty similar to having someone on the street come up to you and ask you for a fight and then watching him fight someone else from the other side of the street. Interesting to watch but worrying as all hell.

Its a good idea and would be completely in place in this game.
Im pretty sure CCP said it was a good idea, at evefest, but there are more important things to impliment in the game.
Also, players can still arrange this with the given sandbox, only there would have to be an element of actual trust between players i suppose.

HeyJoe grabs can and Dork1's entire corp enters system and WTFPWNs HeyJoe.
I'm sure with all the brainpower at CCP and in the EvE community someone could come up with something to implement a way a couple of folks could "duke it out".

There be duels in them tharr hillz!
And if trust is a factor then dont duel them? Or go to sisi to duel. theres your consentual PVP right there
