got the following message from a petition:
Hi,
Thank you for contacting customer support.
Since this is a duplicate petition it will be closed. Please note that filing multiple requests on the same issue will only slow down our service. We will attend to your original petition as soon as possible.
Best regards, GM Nova Senior Game master EVE Online Customer Support
funny thing that, Nova actually looked at the petition this wouldn't have been posted at all. While both petitions had the same name they were indeed on different subjects entirely. One is about the loss of a ship, the other is about the loss of a clone. I really do suggest before you go lumping stuff together and closing off petitions as being about the same thing that you actually read them first.

Now as to why I brought this up, since the item was cut off without option for me to speak to anyone about it or leave a reply I'm going to be upfront and let everyone in the game know what's going on. This way their is a record and everyone in the game sees what's happening if I'm treated unfairly in the situation.
Issue 1
I hit serious game lag when warping into an area to get into a station which was so bad that it kicked me from the game. This apparently cost me a ship.
Issue 2
This same lag which kicked me from the game also cost me a clone which at the time since I was attempting to get to the station to update my clone to the correct type cost me training time on a skill which I now have to retrain. as you can see these are two seperate items even though they stem from the same situation. I will post all responses from this point here.

Edited by: Original Copy on 01/12/2007 22:35:13 Lucky you, you got a response.
I'm now 37 days into a petition and have yet to recieve the first response.
As for the clone thing... close *both* petitions (since the shiploss reply can be 40 days or more waiting).
Re-open the clone loss petition, lay some appropriately irate smack about closing the previous petition, and add the ship loss data to it.
That way their cut & paste can cover both bases as they tell you to STFU, Go Away.

Issue 3:
Posting GM conversations on the forums is a no-no. :)
I wouldn't worry about it to much, at least the few times I've had ships returned the clones usually came with them. Once the clone kill was valid by my reasoning, but I got it back anyway since the ship was returned due to a bug. *shrug*
If I were you I'd just post a question in the first petition to make sure the second one is looked into. These forums are never a good way of contacting customer service. |

First of all, you're not allowed to post messages/replies from GMs on the forums.
Second of all, it's an honest mistake that anyone could have made. He sees two petitions from the same player created at almost the same time and assumes they're duplicates without checking.
As for what you can do, just escalate the petition. A senior GM will take another look at it and fix the issue for you.
One thing to note though, the kind of lag you're referring to seems like network lag so you may not get a reimbursement (I've never known server lag to actually disconnect you from EVE). ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

Filing 2 petitions for the same event does waste time. Yes, you lost a ship and a clone, but it's still the same event. If the ship gets reimbursed, then the clone gets done as well. In the future, just write 1 petition that covers the whole event. (GMs do appreciate thank yous now and then, even if you reopen the petition to do so)

Be glad you are already dealing with a senior GM (Nova) and yeah it's hardly shocking a seemingly duplicate ticked was deleted..
Thread won't last long for reasons people have already mentioned, gl on getting your stuff returned though.

Originally by: Xandria Foreman actually I already did all that, but I'm covering my bases by also posting here so that they know I'm being open about it and letting you guys know how they respond. This means they either respond apropriately or burn themselves. Oh, the only difference is that for the most part I tried to be civil in my reaction to having the problem with the ship loss cut off and only having one petition left alone
For a problem that probably has noting to do with CCP (Lag can easily be your ISP's fault) you sure are sounding like an ass.

Why not just make 1 petition for the whole event? Seems much more simple.

Isn't that a lot like "Give me the response I want or I'll tell everybody on the forums about it!" IF so, I'd say that's the worst possible way of getting the response you want. GMs don't respond well to threats... ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

As I stated I'm only doing this for one reason. I'm being open about my petition. I had a bad situation which totally knocked me out of the game. I couldn't respond to either the attack on my ship or the attack on my clone because I couldn't even see that I was being attacked. if they respond well everyone in the game sees they are indeed fair and treat people fairly. This in turn gives them good press. Doesn't it? I'm being open about this for the simple reason that it seemed like everything was being lumped into one catagory when it shouldn't have been and I'm not really getting much of a response. It's often said than when you stir the waters you get action. I'm being open and I'm giving them a chance to prove their worthy of trust, something they need.

But you're not doing this so they get good press. You're posting here hoping that they see it and, out of fear that they'll anger people, give you the response you want. That sound a lot more like blackmail than it does good press.

See, you're openly admitting that this is about you getting what you want from the GMs, not any kind of favor for them. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

Game lag = not petitionable. Your petition will not go anywhere.
A GM closing a petition without actually reading the petition = fail.
But hey, we already know the CCP customer service department is fail. ____

It's about them not me, I'm out to keep them honest. VERY big difference since in the past they've already proven time and again that their not always very honest, AKA the whole BOB thing with the wrongly given BPO's and such...

Just calm down, the GM made the simple mistake of assuming the petition was a duplicate, as it was posted at about the same time.
It's not like you even had a valid reason for reimbursement anyway, so why be all irritated about it? (if you don't know what I'm talking about, read this.)

Well, your lag sounds like network lag so as such the "honest" response would be to deny you the petition, since your death is indistinguishable from someone hitting CTRL-Q and failing to do it fast enough. But I don't think that's the response you're looking for, so you'd come back to this post and claim that you were cheated. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

at the time half the people in the system also experienced lag which knocked them out of the game as well. This means it most likely was not just on my side as you so aptly put it. This being the case I should most likley get teh ship back and the missing skill points. but I react to what is sent my way. They were two different items, not one. That's why I'm bringing it up here.

Several times before when I've had the same type of lag problems they've returned ships in the past. I'm only bringing this up because I felt I was being taken lightly in a situation which I take serious.

Edited by: Krytie on 01/12/2007 23:05:16 just edit your petition and add the clone into the one that is open. Pretty simple and all is fixed. No need anyway to open two petitions about the same event.

Good luck!
Same situation, lost ship to lag then clone to lag. Cost me a month in SP and i got the typical "sucks to be you" copy and paste reply. My response was short of kind and followed it with "cancel account". Reason written was one word "Lag". I currently dont play but I keep this account active in hopes that they fix the lag. Patience are running thin on this end but i wish you the best of luck with your petition. I would expect the usualy paste response though.
