Dark Glitter is one of the best ice types to mine currently. For more detailed information it's always possible to download refining spreadsheet, insert matari mineral index figures or your local prices and see yield per jetcan or 10 jetcans (to average out refining amount roundings with higher grade ores).

The answer to this depends on a lot of factors:
1) What ship you're mining in (a non-barge rules out ice) 2) your ore and ice mining skills (will affect the profit balance between the two) 3) your refining skills (will depend on whether it's better to sell the ore or refined minerals) 4) Where you intend to mine (you're not going to find mercoxit in 0.5 space, for instance) 5) Prices in your area
If you're serious about optimizing, you'll need a spreadsheet (or use one of the tools already made, check the stickies). Put in the prices in your area of all the ores and refined minerals. Then calculate the refined value of the ores with your refining skills and station standings. Divide by each item's volume to get value per m3.
Then work out your mining setup's yield in m3 per second (your ice and ore yields will be different). If you really want to be detailed, you'll calculate this specific to each ore, to take into account the yield roundings (especially significant on the larger ores).
Then you can combine these to calculate which ore, sold in which way, will yield the most isk per second.
Just remember to keep the market prices updated regularly. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |
