Well I knew it couldn't be that easy.
I think I messed up one step.
I created a new link straight to the desk top and did not create a seprate SiSi folder anywhere.
So I had 2 icons on my desktop and I changed the name of the new shortcut to SiSi.
I then brought up the properties of the SiSi shortcut and put in the proper add on to the target and I was able to log onto the test server.
I then logged off and went to my original shortcut and it also took me to the test server but the target in its properties was the same as the original target pre SiSi add on.
I have tried to reapply the old target in the properties and the apply did nothing.
So my question what do I need to do now to get back to Tranquility? Also how to do without loosing the SiSi shortcut if possible.

Edited by: Ashina Sito on 22/05/2008 17:10:02 I can not connect.
I created a copy of the Eve Client. Adjusted a shortcut to add /end /server:87.237.38.50.
I see server 87.237.38.50 Status: Unknown.
starting anyway gets this error message,
"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
Using this site I see the server is up and running. http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/server_status.php
Only thin I can come up with it is that I edited the short cut to add the server but the shortcut still refers to the unchanged .exe file. Although the startup screen shows it is trying to contact the correct server.
Thanks
Edit: the first time I connected I did download a patch. no other contact with the sever since. |

Originally by: Antithysis If you create a shortcut to your EVE.exe file in your SiSi folder, put that onto your desktop. Once you have that, open the properties of the shortcut, and where you see the input box that's labeled 'target', place this string on the end: /end /server:87.238.37.50
Make sure to put a space between /end and the last " mark of the original input target. This is what should be done (correct me if I am mistaken), but even with doing this I cannot connect.

The dummies guide to setting up the test client
- First create a new folder under C: called SiSi.
- Copy your Eve directory from C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE to C:\SiSi [screenshot]
- Download the Singularity patch from here. Run the patch and make sure you select the C:\SiSi\EVE directory! Don't launch the Eve client yet.
- Delete the 2 directories named win2k & winxp from C:\SiSi\EVE\bin [screenshot]
- From the C:\SiSi\EVE directory, right-click eve.exe and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) [screenshot]
- From the Desktop right-click the eve.exe shortcut you just created (you might want to rename the shortcut) and select properties:
In the target box add /end /server:87.237.38.50 to the end of C:\SiSi\EVE [screenshot] (Note: if you want to keep the /LUA switch then use /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50)
- Now you can start the client. Make sure you select Singularity from the server list!
Hopefully this will get you going.
I Don't have the "win2k & winxp" files to delete, so what should i do

Having an issue where every time I connect to singularity, it gives me an incompatible error(release), but when I autoinstall the patch, it says that I have the most current version. Same error from installing the patch manually from the eve website. Anyone else having this problem?

Edit 2: ****FIX*** Since the client automaticly patched my client I left it alone. Just downloaded the patch from the web site. Tried to install and got a message saying that the patch was installed already and the client was current. I hit the "launch" button in the patch installation window and everything worked fine.
One last thing though. I can only log in from the launch button in the patch window. Longing in from a shortcut or exe file still has the same issues. At least it is a work around.

You are currently trying to connect to the EVE test server which is running version 55935. Your client version is 55798. To upgrade your test client, please visit http://www.eve-online.com/patches/testpatches.asp.
Went to the above link, but no patch with the 55935 build is available.

My only guess is that they have not made the new build public yet.....but that seems a bit far fetched, because if we cannot log on, we cannot test.

Create a file in your test client folder called "eve.bat" open it with notepad and paste the following two lines in it:
Quote: @echo off call eve.exe /server:87.237.38.50
EVE Launcher will startup the eve.bat instead of the eve.exe and you'll client will connect to the test server. ---------------

Anyone know if it's really down or up? I'm dying to try out EA and FW

Got on for the first time today, but then there was a unscheduled reboot and afterwards I couldn't get back. Message said that I must establish an internet connection or that I've got the wrong address. Tried Ashina Sito's cheat above without any luck either, but, the Server Status page is showing zero online so maybe it's just down atm even though it's been an hour or so.
And to that fella that posted on the 23rd up above me,.. the SiSi 'file' is a folder that you create and just put all the contents of your CCP folder into. Got to have another copy of the game to do this, so that's what you do to begin with. I know that step wasn't really laid out from the get-go, but before you follow any of these instructions, make a copy of your CCP folder and it's contents and rename the copy 'SiSi'.

Edited by: TamiyaCowboy on 31/05/2008 11:45:15 how i fixed sisi.
ok im kinda thick with computers but i worked it all out.
1: open your hdd, program files 2: make new folder named SiSi 3: copy eve from CCP folder too SiSi folder 4: open sisi folder right click eve rename testserver, now open and rightclick eve.exe, select properties 5: add the extra gubbins, /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50 in the target box (top box) 6: the box below the "start in " box, needs adjusting, it sometimes points too your TQ file in ccp folder, if so change the /ccp/eve into /SiSi/testserver 7: close properties, right click exe again, select send too, desktop, then rename too SiSi so your not muddled up 8. start the SiSi shortcut, and wait, once started the auto patcher kicks in, download and install patch. CHECK patch is fixing /SiSi/testserver.it wil popup a box showing what floder is being patched. 9. restart sisi shortcut and login as you would do with tranquility
i borked my main client by not pointing the sisi shortcut "start in" too my test server folder, and it ofcourse overwrote my main client. if this happens there is only one thing you can do, re install new client.and start from step 1 again
hope this helps the none computer nerdy types in eve
