It's an issue with the client disconnecting, not your internet connection. If it was your connection, CCP would tell you to get lost as it's an issue on your end. Run the log server, and keep sending in bug reports. Do it more than once, then they have more data to go over to see if there's something reocuring. ---

I was having this problem but found that one of my torrent programs (wasn't downloading) was causing the problem. Since I disabled it i've not had a problem

is anyone who posted in this thread still having the issue?
I mean this patch 2.2, had so many problems, bin files, sound looping, resetting settings, could these be factors?
yeah it aintme, i formatted my computer and all and only installed eve, gave it a whirl and same thing, all other multiplayer games maintain connection.
a friend of mine suggested I try port forwarding...route all my traffic from ccp only through a particular port, but i dont have a clue how to do this. -- Greater Love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends.

I am having the same problem and it is driving me absolutely mad. I have contacted CCP on several occasions about only to be ignored. Finally got a reply two days, with the whole run the logserver, use pingplotter, send us the crashdump file thingy. Still awaiting a reply.
I had no packet loss on pingplotter!!?
I have noticed it seems to happen between the hours of 1500 EVETime and 21-2200 EVETime, outside of this time I get no connection loss. Living in the UK I'm ending up playing til 5am to get any sort of enjoyment out the game. But personally I don't want to play then as all of my corp buddies have gone to bed.
Just today, I went on after DT, played the game right up to 3 EVETime and as soon as the clocked ticked 3 both my clients lost connection and I cannot get back on.

Hi, Same problem here. I'm in the UK and find that the connection is fine outside of peak hours, i.e early morning. This to me says the problem is with CCPs servers struggling with the load. I bet there are loads of others having the same problem, please post to this thread with details and send data to CCP sp they can fix this.
If this goes on much longer I'll be cancelling my account. Why pay for something you cant use?

so i have talked to gm's and such about this. i have posted in here alot of info. yet no dev, gm or anyone from ccp says what they are doing to fix it. so today like 5 min ago i decide to get with my isp and work with them to ping the server ip and see what they said about where the delay and latency issue is.
i got told by embarq who is my net provider that the problem starts from (212.187.128.58 and keeps going untill it hits the server ip of 87.237.38.201. now how is that anyone's problem. there is no way anyone in the US can do anything about this. so CCP please contect who ever you have to. get this problem fixed. the problem is in london and only you CCP can get this fixed.
here is the tracert that my ip tech sent me that he ran. Hop #8 is where the issue begins.
traceroute 87.237.38.201 source 76.6.248.1 se_traceroute to 87.237.38.201 (87.237.38.201) from 76.6.248.1, 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 69.69.33.245 (69.69.33.245) 215.456 ms 202.813 ms 204.087 ms 2 160.81.42.5 (160.81.42.5) 78.344 ms 78.517 ms 74.809 ms 3 144.232.26.29 (144.232.26.29) 77.140 ms 77.982 ms 95.294 ms 4 144.232.26.1 (144.232.26.1) 85.938 ms 88.762 ms 88.581 ms 5 144.232.8.219 (144.232.8.219) 92.785 ms 84.829 ms 83.182 ms 6 144.232.8.114 (144.232.8.114) 103.111 ms 101.051 ms 95.573 ms 7 4.68.101.129 (4.68.101.129) 102.787 ms 4.68.101.65 (4.68.101.65) 103.580 ms 4.68.101.1 (4.68.101.1) 104.822 ms 8 212.187.128.58 (212.187.128.58) 241.429 ms 177.163 ms 160.939 ms 9 4.68.116.11 (4.68.116.11) 151.795 ms 4.68.116.139 (4.68.116.139) 161.436 ms 166.461 ms 10 195.50.91.22 (195.50.91.22) 170.495 ms 167.745 ms 161.828 ms 11 * * * 12 * * * 13 * * * 14 * * * 15 * * * 16 * * *
i was also told to go to a website Arin: whois database search i went to this site and put in the ip for the tq server. it come back with the information i will now list.

Last few days I've been getting this and it's unbearable. I can't even play. I'm getting the problem on 2 PCs and 2 separate installations of the client. I first thought it was my wireless or broadband connection but I am able to do everything else fine and when I get disconnects I don't get them at the same time, they are independent on both the laptop and the desktop which kinda rules out connectivity.
I ran a ping on both PCs at the same time to TQ and there are no lag spikes and no packet loss reported on either computer. I've uninstalled the client, deleted every file on the PC that has anything whatsoever to do with eve, cleaned the registry and reinstalled. I disabled my soundcard, updated the video drivers, no dice, no change. I installed clockmon and ran it hoping, nothing again. It's to the point that I can't play the game. Time to reinstall X3 untill they figure out what in the fork is going on. I'll keep my eye on this thread.
My specs:
Dell Dimension 4600 Geforce 6600 OC 1.5 GB Ram Windows Vista
Toshiba Satelite Geforce 5500 Go! 1 GB RAM Windows XP Media Center Edition

Well, enough is enough.
The game connection is unstable enough tht it's not worth paying money for this game at this time. It's NOT my ISP, it's NOT my client, have even go so far as to reformat my system drive, reinstall everythign from scratch yet again, and install EVE clean from a fresh-downloaded client.
And all that the GMs can tell me is that it's a "Direct3D issue" according to my logfiles.
A "Direct3D issue" on a freshly installed and fully up-to-=date system, latest DirectX (9.0c, August release), nVidia drivers (163.44), and fresh WinXP SP2.
A "Connection Lost" from that. Ya, right.
I've voted with my wallet, and will keep a eye on this thread to see if there's any point in coming back.
My personal chain to CCP is COX Communications direct to Linkwood direct to CCP's gateway. On my Ping Plotter graphs I get occasional red blocks of COMPLETE non-connectivity, and yet it's a "DirectX Issue".
Faugh.

I just bought the game the first month... better to stop fast with that game than loosing too much money from an unplayable game.

Edited by: Plutoinum on 08/09/2007 06:24:39 My corp's CEO and me disconnect a lot during the last maybe 3 weeks. I was away for 1 1/2 months and before that I have never seen that.
I don't know if it's a network issues, we both live in Germany. The strange thing is, a few times it happened right after I typed something into a channel, like into the directors channel, where most often only us two are. Hit return, before I see it appear, disconnect. I come back, see my CEO has been disconnected too. Had it 3 or 4 times that way. Really strange.
One minute ago, I tried to open the corp-menue, click on it, disconnect. Typical.
But luckily it's not every 5 minutes. Didn't annoy me so much that I investigated with log server and such. Maybe I should do that.

Originally by: CCP Mindstar If you are having consistent disconnection issues, I would urge you to file a bug report on it.
Bug Reporting
Remember when bug reporting to include output from a logserver file, as well as including system specs, dxdiag and even what ISP you are with.
Additionally, I would suggest that if you are having connection issues to use PingPlotter against Tranquility's IP - 87.237.38.201, and report the results.
My friend did the whole process, uninstall, delete folder, cache AND reinstall the game completely.
Report the bug (I toll him how to do it): -DX Diagnostic -Log server -crash log
-Description of bug report.
And the answer he receive was "cannot reproduce" and his report was close. It was so cheap that he now disgusted by the customer support of this game.
From all the effort he did and all other peoples that posted in this topic, you should had loss a lot of customer up to now...
I understand that software developpement in a MMO and your server architechture is quite complex because I am also working in software developpement.
But the way tat problem is handles is quite a insult. For each people posting (around 50), there around 5-20 time more people and each people probably have 1.3 account. It make around 400-1500 people not able to connect/play for more than 5 mins !
Make a post about it, start a blog and request for people to send more informations: -DX Diagnostic -Log server -crash log

I find that if I am in a battlecruiser and have the gang module turned on I can stay in game all day long. It doesn't matter if I am in a gang or just by myself. Just as long as that gang module is going. As soon as I turn it off and dont touch anything I will eventually loose connection, BUT I dont see it loose connection. The game is still up and running but if I go to do anything, ie open a window or type in chat it gives me the "Lost Connection to Server" and closes to the log in spash screen. Unfortunately having my ice harvesters on doesn't keep me in the game. So I usually alt tab and stay on my mining alt and keep open and closing windows or chatting to keep showing some kind of activity so I don't loose con.
I have even flown for so long between gates in my frieghter that I have dysnced and not even known it since the game is still up and running. As soon as I finally get to the jump gate and try and jump is when I get the lost connection message and dump to the log in screen. So while I fly to a gate I keep opening and closing screens to show activity so it doesn't dump me.
This is the only way I have been able to keep myself in the game so far. Don't remember having this problem till around the Kali patch back in Dec timeframe and on.

^^ That is what the reply originally said. Virrago has been nice enough to fix it in the original reply :-)
However TQ IP is actually 87.237.38.200 so you guys that tried ping'ing 87.237.38.201 should try ping plotting that instead.
AFAIK the test servers has always seem pretty happy with disconnecting people due to inactivity. I know get that 9 out 10 times I'm multitasking while connected to sisi for a long period. CCP has always claimed that there is no idle timer, and there most likely isn't. There is just an issue somewhere, which now has migrated to TQ.
I would really really really like to see some basic network functions ingame: - Display of current ping to the server. - Ability to configure the client to send keep-alive packets - just in case its a network timeout somewhere. - A button to schedule a re-sync from the server (possible including a delay between retries, to avoid a fleet re-sync'ing a system to hell).

If anyone that run the logserver and know a bit of programming. Its somewhat interesting what the logserver is outputting; that each time that i loose connection seem that some process in the eve client crashes.
After that even at the logon screen the client can't reconnect to the server, it only say "Checking status". You have to completely close the client and restart it to be able reconnect. Do you have a similar event ? (i would like to know)
The problem is that people don't seem to realise that some internal process is either crashing or stop responding. But that doesn't crash the client to desktop so most people don't really notice it.
I am still puzzled to see lot of people reporting all kind of problem when it probably all come down to a BUG in the eve client that cause:
- Disconnect - Freezing (at that point the disconnect already occured) - Poor Responses
There must be some kind of holiday at CCP to not notice the amount of complaints in the forums on the same subject. I post on a regular basis a bug report on the same item with logserver files. I suggest you post bug reports at each event of this... I do so since i can't really play anyway. But do they actually look at them ?
I having a revelation that CCP is ignoring paying customers.

so lezx, you're saying I am probably not even having a connectivity issue, and that the client is probably crashing due to some bug, but its saying connection to server lost, because obviously if it crashes the connection to the server is lost.
Yeah I find it strange that since the rev 2.2 patch my and all these other guys own started too. I changed nothing on my end and nothing has changed in my settings, i just installed 2.2 and that was the only thing different. i even formatted, run it on multiple computers... ettc etc.
this client has alot of issues, the sound looping/bin folder crap problems it had/ the settings resetting not being saved...something along those lines is contributing to this. i just hope they hurry up with the patch.
and yeah I take forever at the checking status part.. closing and reopening is mainly the same thing. -- Greater Love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends.
