To put into perspective the general ignorance about IAC/CVA relations...that's how it's been for some time and it has worked out just fine.
Nothing new has happened here. From time to time CVA assists IAC...and from time to time IAC assists CVA. And every time this happens, the general populous tries to cram CVA into their neat little "Coalition/Alliance" box.
It just doesn't work that way. Our agenda is not "assist the Coalition" or "crush the Alliance." In this particular instance, our agenda was quite simply to honor our relationship with IAC. If that means dragging badguys into Providence, then I suppose we'll have to deal with those issues as they come.
Really hard to understand how you will assist IAC and shoot at the AAAs you will meet there. Guess how happy will feel the AAA killed by a CVA in front of 2 IAC...
If you actually read the posts, you'd probably learn, that CVA will shoot at AAA IN PROVIDENCE unless they'll agree to operate NRDS in this one region. When CVA is out in Cache, or wherever else they chose to help IAC, they will NOT shoot AAA (other then for self defence I'd guess).
It isn't that hard to understand, is it?

Whilst the idea you're presenting is logical and ideal, it isn't achievable under the current game mechanics. Either AAA agree to being NRDS in providence and keep their pilots to it or they're red to CVA regardless of where they are. It can't be set any other way.
So this leaves you in a situation where one of three things happens.
1. AAA change their ways and don't shoot people in Provi that aren't red. All well and good, CVA has no problems, AAA etc. have none.
2. AAA do not set standings, CVA are red by necessity to them and they can lose super caps the same as EST did due to friendly(ish) fire :)
3. AAA will officially agree to NRDS in Providence and 'a number of unfortunate incidents' will occur but AAA will get to operate NBSI and CVA will get to claim that AAA are operating NRDS.
I think that any sensible commander will bank for option 3. with a little bit of hope.
At the end of the day, making NBSI groups operate NRDS is a real pain in the ass and doesn't work unless the NBSI group is very motivated to keep to the rules. Even then it only really occurs in the short term at best.
Good luck to all parties involved trying to resolve the standing fubar it is going to be!

Kirah got it right.
Option 4, Sapphrine, is that CVA keep -A- red until IAC requests CVA presence for a specific op...at which point -A- and CVA alter standings for the duration of the op to avoid "friendly" fire incidents.
Too complicated? Not if you put our small excursion yesterday into proper perspective. Again, we're not joining the fight...we were requested for a specifc mission. This is not going to turn into a situation where CVA are regularly in Catch or regularly encountering -A- outside Providence.
Naturally an offer by -A- to agree to our rules in Providence would give everybody in CVA a nice warm fuzzy, but I think we all know that ain't happening.

-A- hasn't been shooting neutrals in 49-Derek while supporting IAC there (well, mostly). Its highly doubtful that -A- would have them set red so the relationship will work as intended if CVA can control themselves. -------------------------------------- What are you looking at? -------------------------------------- |

LOL CVA's involvement is actually very humorous, and they've positioned themselves well.
Here's the translation, for those unable to see through political spin:
"IAC has helped us in the past, and after destroying U'K in Providence, we have no one else to shoot. Rather than take an official side on this conflict, and possibly risk losing something and/or making enemies, we're going to unofficially side with IAC, AAA, RED Alliance, Goonfleet, and everyone else on this side of the conflict."
Spin it however you want CVA. Most everyone can see exactly what side you're taking. The real question is... will this decision come back to bite you in the end? Only time will tell.
Personally I find it ironic that CVA, notoriously anti-pirate, are assisting an alliance who knowingly associates with pirates, etc. I guess we're seeing those lines of distinction and standards of conduct blur a bit.
Even doubly ironic since U'K resorted to an alliance with pirates themselves, once the chips were down. Who are the terrorists now? |

No. Its more like:
Hi, we are teh CVA. IAC helped us a bunch, and now its our turn to help them. We are not changing standings to anyone who happens to be allied with IAC which includes most of the Coalition. We will still shoot them dead inside providence, because after all THATS OUR ONLY GOAL. We do however see the need for paying old debts, and acknowledge that IAC's other friends maybe flying with them if we leave providence, in which case temporary standings will be set.
In short, we will maintain providence as a NRDS region and continue to shoot most of the coalition, while repaying IAC for the help hey lent us with UK.
Is it really that hard to understand?
I hate to say this, but this forum is OOC so I guess im ok, good luck CVA. From the looks of the way your enemies are already judging you they have NO idea who they are dealing with.

Old news, IAC's blue standings with SoD (Priory) amongst others back in the day never stopped CVA showing up to help IAC defend their space. Where the hell is the difference now? Some things are bigger than standings.

There is no friendship, or honor, in EvE. Anonymity ensures that.
