a question Duras.. what will the Dark Rising Directors do with the Billions that the D-R Members had bring the Corp with the ultra high taxes in the "6 Independence weeks" you know.. this 20 - 50bils...
Do D-R give the isk their members back or who have this money atm ?
To any corp who is both large, and organized, this is a small price tag for the members to reach. If your members are not total nit wits, then they will know this, and respect their leaders decisions for the ISK generated during CORP money making periods.
Anyway, 50 bill doesn't go that far anymore, they probably have it spent already on war supplies.

Edited by: CaptainOkuna on 16/07/2007 13:01:18 Respect for making the choice to walk away, I know it couldn't have been easy.
If only eve was RL........ then RL wouldn't get in the way so much
You were a great CEO, and you had some damn fine pilots in your fold. Made a lot of good friends and good memories in the time we flew together.
Most of all I will always remember your maxim.... if u lose a ship you can always find something you have done wrong or could have done better!!
True (although often painful!!) words
Best of luck for your future endeavours mate, look forward to bumping into you and your (ex)pilots in the future.

after reading your 4th stupid post in this thread I decided to look you up on the goon swarm killboard. Let me tell you I now know that you are both a failure at killing things in eve as well as being a professional forum *****. Go help your alliance mates and maybe you can choo choo again rather than putting the train in reverse.
When you don't get the joke, which is painfully obvious in this case, it's best to just nod and smile as though you did, rather than deliver an unintentionally ironic diatribe. Since you won't get the irony on your own, reflect on the fact that your corp is busy collapsing while the train is having no difficulties whatsoever.
Oh, quoting kb stats to a Goon? Not to be rude, but just how many times were you dropped on your head as a child?

Then id have gone round other Xelas members houses and done the same til there were none left.

I have to admit that the quote in the second post in this thread got tossed in even quicker than I thought it would ( )...and I also must admit that it made me chuckle since it was certainly no surprise to see where Mitch "landed."
From the vantage point of a "Northern Monkey," as he has called us, the timing seems suspect if it were, as suggested, "RL issues," but it really isn't for me to say.
Much like Kinsey, I wouldn't want smack Mitch. He's clearly an earnest leader who is well-liked by his pilots. Given the huge amount of work "leading" is in this game, I can but respect the guy for a job decently done and wish him and his fellow Dark-Rising pilots well in their future endeavours.

Good luck Mitch. It has been great flying with you. To the rest of you smacking on about money and what not, you have no idea what your talking about.-End of Story-. As for the other comments about D-R falling apart after Mitch leaving, look Some Corps do well because everyone is all about "The Plan" and some do Well because of "Cult of Personality". While that term is often used in the negative, in this case its just that every liked Mitch as a LEADER and how he did things and run the show and of course his "Vision".
Once the man and the "Vision" left why stay clinging to the Corpse? (Howm many corps has that happend too hmmm?) Those members of D-R that wanted to stay together and play together are doing so and those that want to do something else in EVE are moving on. Whats so hard to understand about that?
As for myself, when I first started in D-R after moving from ThEMM, my PvP skills were pretty craptastic and I was nervous going anywhere in 0.0 by myself. Now I have traveled farther and wider than I ever have, I have been involved in some good fleet fights as well as smaller gank squads and I know my role and how to play it. I have more Battleships (intact) than I ever thought I would own and will be leaving the Corp far richer in cash, stuff and most importantly friendships and good memories than when I first arrived... (yes 0.0 IS paved in ISK but its a hard road).
Am I ****ed off at the Breakup after the Big move? Sure, hauling all your "Mierda" from Paragon Soul to Deklein a few times in one week, only to find that your Corp is Breaking up tends to leave one a little shocked to say the least. But TBH I'm better off for it. Time for more New Experiences, travling to Exotic locales, meet new people, and Kill them!
Farewell D-R and FS! it was one hell of a ride.

It's just quite convenient that as things went bad, Mitch had real life problems. Nobody could help take it over?
And then he jumps ship and joins RKK.

Have you got any clue what the diffence is between running a 500+ man corp + an alliance with all the politics and stuff (maintaining your just setup space and planning for the future, dividing roles and leading and organising any corp project there is + general politics) with next to that just 'playing' eve (ratting, mining, pvping and the like), and being a normal member of the corp? Me neither.

do you know what delegation means? Mitch was definitely not a good manager if he was handling 500 people himself.

Regardless of what some say Mitch was a very good leader and unless you've flown with him or worked alongside him on the battlefield or on a corp/alliance project you just don't know.

Edited by: funni on 18/07/2007 22:41:43 To those of you who wished us well, thank you very much for your kind comments. Also, to those of you showing your respects; again, it has been a pleasure to fly with all of you, no matter which side of our guns you were on.
Being a long time Director in Dark and prior to that a CEO in my own quite successful corporation and ventures, I will be the first to say, when asked if continuing on with Dark was something I wanted to do? My immediate answer was no. Anyone in this game who has done any kind of organization or structure and spent their EvE time taking care of a corporation of Dark's size in any capacity, will grow tired without question. We all have RL and some of us would like to live it.
I will be the first to attest that Mitch spent more time than I could personally muster to run our Alliance and Dark. Something we built from nothing, and brought it to where it is today, and again, leaving on a high note regardless of your smack. Being in the Euro Time zone, yet staying up till all hours, or getting up at 5 am to fill me in on the happenings and things I should know was beyond his call of duty. But, Mitch did so willingly and without hesitation. This is the reason that I, and probably the reason the rest of the Directors decided not to take the reigns. It is not that we didn't see it fit to carry on. It is that we did not see fit to carry on without our Leader. We could have replaced him. But we chose not to. That is our choice, and it is a fair one.
As for Mitch joining RKK. perhaps it's not my place, but regardless. RL = no ability to spend 75+ hours a week on EvE. This was the minimal requirement for being the CEO of Dark. As VP of Production it took about 50 hours a week to keep my corp mates in ships. That was with a staff of 8... And... that was in the "low losses" time of our career. If any of you smack talking freaks had any clue whatsoever what it took to keep Dark Rising going, you'd put your head right back up your ass where it belongs. RKK will not require the type of planning, engagement, logistics, time management, RL being put on hold so often etc. I personally am going back as CEO of my own corp, however, even in that my required play time will be less than my previous role...
Let Dark leave a legacy of greatness, for that's the legacy we flew under. As for the smack talkers, I'm guessing you are also the gents that saw fit to head the opposite direction of our gangs when we decided to go on joyrides... *sighs*
Sometimes.... just sometimes... you only want to be a brick in the wall.. not the glue that holds the wall together.
Get over yourselves, when you accomplish half of what we did feel free to smack your way into any forum post. And.. for the record, we were Dark LONG before Xelas. Xelas was a stopping point where we helped and achieved great things. Jelous? There's still an outpost in Fountain with Dark-Rising Blood Sweat and Tears cemented into it. Which.. was put up when we were a corporation of less than 100...
As for the North.. perhaps it's better to disband before we cleared the area and then had to start giving stations away... never considered that part eh? :)
Again to those of you wishing us well, hope to see you in space. To my former corp mates - fly safe boys I will miss you all. But.. if you ever need a ship look me up :P
