Forcing gaming data onto the C: drive messes up 3 classes of your players:
1) People who wish to keep only OS files on drive C and keep all data on another drive.
2) People who run more than one account from their machine, which will now apparently write to the same files, mixing things up, with unknown results if two clients running at once write to the same file.
3) People who try to keep the cache directory on a RAM disk for extra speed.
So, please, take the person who made the decision to comply with some stupid Microsoft guidelines out behind the shed and beat them with a leather strap. Then, give us the option of keeping all data where it previously lived -- the /LUA:OFF switch as I understand it only keeps the Settings in the original place, not the rest of the cached data.
Thank you.

Also, where is the native Linux client some CCP spoke about coming out in 3 weeks.... roughly 4 months ago?

Edited by: Miter on 20/06/2007 05:34:01 While it is nice to see a CCP response to the one, single issue on this thread so far, it sort of makes the rest of the issues remaining unacknowledged, seem worse.
It would help if http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/knownissues.asp was cleared or updated so that things reported here started showing up there, or update the original post at least.
It would also help if fanbois who think absolutely nothing is wrong with this release would refrain from posting issue-less posts on this thread.
Thank you.

I said it before, I'll say it again. Everytime a major patch hits the gluesniffers come out of the woodwork.
I do believe your personal attacks are out of place here.
Please go read the original post where Kieron says that that post will be updated with known issues. That list has not changed since the game came back. Whatever is going on 'behind the scenes' at CCP, a tiny amount of communication as things are being fixed, as the promised to do, would go a long way towards easing peoples concerns.
Cheers.

And you know they are 'well aware' of these issues, how, exactly?

Careful, I mentioned this lack of updating yesterday and was called a CCP Basher and people explained that they hoped I'd 'die in a fire'
Yes, CCP promised to update the original post (and presumably the known issues page, since Kieron referred us to that page) with known issues. No, this has not happened in the, so far, two 9-to-5 working days that have passed.

Well, shame on CCP for not updating this thread's OP, a poor update to the Known Issues page, a poor decision on where to store client data....
But extreme kudos to the EvE user community, especially to the kind soul (Pilk!) who posted a batch file that will keep client data under the EVE install directory(ies), allowing the use of multiple clients on one machine, keeping all data off of a possibly slow, possibly full, possibly company owned system disk!
Link to magic counteracting the poor decision to move data around for a silly Microsoft Gaming Logo Certification :(
