Fix'd. The Hilton Hotels Corporation, of which her family owns a percentage, is facking enormous. The overarching mother company has revenues to the tune of $4bil a year, and that's not counting the revenues of each individual hotel chain.
Originally by: Dark Kavar Difference between jail and prison? I've always associated the two words as having the same meaning
Jail: county or city lockup. Used for short-term storage of criminals who are either serving short sentences for misdemeanors, or awaiting trial. Prison: State or federal facility. Used for long-term incarceration and typically of nothing but felons.
Jail is unpleasant, prison is bad news. In jail, you play a lot of Spades and try to kill time. In prison, you play a rousing game of Dodge the Bun Dart, and try not to get killed.

Difference between jail and prison? I've always associated the two words as having the same meaning
I'm guessing jail is the police cell when they hold em up over night or a couple of days while prison is the actual building for long term people?
I'm probably wrong, Brit here.

Guess that must be an American distinction. In Britain, the two terms are synonymous. Gaol (as is the British spelling) isn't used officially though- the main ones in England are Her Majesty's Prisons (different names in Scotland and N. Ireland, I think), and the small ones in police stations are generally just called "police cells", or some variation on that theme. --------

I don't know about California, but in Texas DUI is for minors under 21 with any detectable alcohol, whereas DWI is for people driving with a BAC over .08. Adults don't get DUI's here. Don't know if its the same all over, actually I'm pretty sure it isn't, but it mildly annoys me when I hear the media say DUI for someone over 21. Sorta like when someone forgets that Library has two "r's" in it. Its not a Libary people.
i thought the legal limit was reduced to 0.5 (in tx, im here too) because of that accident back in 00 or 01 where the 4 kids were killed by the drunk driver. i got a DWI on my 19th birthday =/ years ago. never driven drunk since.

Omg, just heard on the tv that she was suffering from "depression" and that she "was having difficulty living in a confined space." Isn't jail supposed to be that way?
TBFH I have very little sympathy for drunk drivers. Hopefully this sends a message to the rest of the "upper casses," you are not above the law. If you break it you will go to jail just like every other joe in this country who chooses to drink and drive. _______________________________ Pleese exucse any seplling erorr's in tihs psot |

Edited by: l3lind Man on 10/06/2007 19:07:35 punishments in the law suck imo, if you drink and drive you lose your license for life - maybe that would encourage people not to do it.. if you break a law the punishment should be life-altering, not 45 days in prison... its laughable..
they should find more effective ways of punishments then jailtime

Every time you are caught driving drunk they insert bamboo sticks under your nails... Or cut off a finger. Either one.

In North Carolina, there are such wonderful bonuses to driving drunk as permanent license revocation, permanent vehicle confiscation, years of jailtime, and multiple thousand dollar fines. Based upon number / severity of violations.
Then you drive over the border to South Carolina, and a passenger can have an open container so long as you pass a breathalyzer test.
