It is my deepest regret to inform the eve community of the loss of Brian Reardon (Darkroni).
On Sunday 6th May Brian had a heart attack and died in the arms of his best mate Jeff (Kaldragon).
Brian had been playing eve for just over 2 years and coincidently, he died on his two year anniversary of being apart of Omacron Militia. In its prime, Omacron Militia was a small corp, we were like a family and now that Brian has gone we feel like we have all lost a brother.
Brian was a kind and loving person who was always willing to help his corp mates out, I remember once that we had a huge mining op in 0.0 and Brian stayed up all night setting the POS with the next refine as he had the highest skills so that all the members involved could hurry up and make some isk, I believe he kept setting his clock for 3 hours and then watch a movie while waiting.
Out of Brians love for this game, his family have decided to keep his accounts running and continue his list of skills to train, they, we, feel that doing this will keep Brian's spirit with us. They will also be completing his goal of acquiring a Navy Raven through missions.
I felt that it would be a good idea to do a post on these forums so that he can go down as a part of EVEs History and allow the whole community to pay their respects to him. So I would like everyone who is reading this to have a beer and think of Brian. May he Rest In Peace.
For those of you that would like to read posts made by his RL friends and Corp Mates, please check out the following links:

Condolences
I received a phone call from JimBob666 on Monday morning informing me that Brian had passed away. I was dumbstruck and lost for words.
Brian (aka Darkroni) was the one of the first players I made friends with whilst playing EVE. Reluctantly, he agreed to have a chat with the then directors of OMCR and became the second newest recruit after myself. He ended up CEO and me, well; I didnĘt even get to director.
I would like to send my condolences to BrianĘs family and friends at their recent loss. Having lost my mother five months ago, I can understand what BrianĘs family and friends are going through at this moment. It is in times like these, friends and family are the key source of comfort and I hope you all get through this time of sadness together.
Rest in peace Brian.

Tasteless, utterly tasteless.
My best to his family and friends, I hope you meet, if not exceed, his goal of a Navy Raven.
Perhaps we could convince CCP to use his real life name and make him an agent for his race; thus, truly immortalizing his memory and love for EVE-online.

Sorry mate .. but thats account sharing ... If CCP accepts the fact Brian is indead deceiced .. simply getting the account online is a EULA violation.
At that point he will die a certain death ingame too (no phun intended)

I'm sure his family could arrange for a character transfer if necessary to be all legal about it but in this case I can't imagine it is something CCP would get their panties in a twist over.

Nah. As long as they transfer his account to the next of kin there's no legal problem here. Its part of his estate like any other. Either his direct next of kin, estate executor, or probate attorney could make the arrangements. Although I can't see CCP being so cold as to make you jump through that kind of hoop.
My condolences to the family and his friends, loss is always hard to deal with. |

This is about what I've come to expect from EVE. Overrun by children without the restraint to control their e-peens, even at a memorial.
Metagamed restraint of player be limiting to player choice, but it tends to cut down assinine nonsense like this.

He got me in to EVE and here i sit now a addict to this game that he told me "was a good laugh" to my wifes despair . To the people posting i will be adding your comments to a scrap book my wifes making for his mom from his online friends and wellwishers and these comments will be joining the airsoft one's in that book. I'm very sorry to hear this news.
Darkroni was one of the first and finest recruits me and Syrus666 got into Omacron Milita.
He was always helpfull and willing to join in the fun, and we all played a part in introducing him to the game. Though i havnt spoken to him for a long time i certainly will feel his loss.
I offer my deepest regrets to all of his friends and family (Moreso Kaldragon and Darks familiy) and will be sending a small donation towards that navy raven he wanted as a parting gift as soon as my main account is active again.

After receiving a phone call from Kal on Sunday evening Brian has not left my thoughts. I am devastated he is gone and feel deeply for his close friends and family.
Brian was the first person from EVE I met in rl. It turned out the he and Kal only lived in the same part of the city as me, what are the chances? I met Brian in our local Starbucks where he lent me Babylon 5 DVDs. From that day forward Brian became a part of my rl world, he came round and hung out, we went out for food, the cinema bowling etc. He was always there for me in and out of game and for my last birthday he took me and my partner out for a surprise dinner.
My partner and I have a mini Eurovision party (as kind of a jokie thing) every year and last year Brian was with us for it. This weekend we will watch the UK loose again and make a toast Brian.
Brian was one hell of a friend; nothing was too much for him. I will miss his enormous generosity, humour and grumpy honesty.

Edited by: Alvar Ursidae on 11/05/2007 21:45:35 I didn't know him, but my condolences are with his friends and family.
I lost a very good mate earlier this year myself, though not an Eve player, there were a few of us that knew him.

I would just like to thank everyone for their kind remarks.
Like Kaldragon said, all these posts will be added to a scrapbook along with post from many other forums regarding Brian. This scrapbook is then going to be given to his mother so that she can read all the nice comments people have made about him.
So thank you again everyone.
