It is my deepest regret to inform the eve community of the loss of Brian Reardon (Darkroni).
On Sunday 6th May Brian had a heart attack and died in the arms of his best mate Jeff (Kaldragon).
Brian had been playing eve for just over 2 years and coincidently, he died on his two year anniversary of being apart of Omacron Militia. In its prime, Omacron Militia was a small corp, we were like a family and now that Brian has gone we feel like we have all lost a brother.
Brian was a kind and loving person who was always willing to help his corp mates out, I remember once that we had a huge mining op in 0.0 and Brian stayed up all night setting the POS with the next refine as he had the highest skills so that all the members involved could hurry up and make some isk, I believe he kept setting his clock for 3 hours and then watch a movie while waiting.
Out of Brians love for this game, his family have decided to keep his accounts running and continue his list of skills to train, they, we, feel that doing this will keep Brian's spirit with us. They will also be completing his goal of acquiring a Navy Raven through missions.
I felt that it would be a good idea to do a post on these forums so that he can go down as a part of EVEs History and allow the whole community to pay their respects to him. So I would like everyone who is reading this to have a beer and think of Brian. May he Rest In Peace.

Condolences on the loss, man. Been in MMOs long enough to know a few people who've passed. Hurts just as bad as losing someone you know in person, the pixels don't isolate the bond.

I've come across a couple of people in online games who've went before their time as well.
My condolences as well.

Edited by: Imperator Jora''h on 09/05/2007 20:18:24 It has never ceased to amaze me at how strong the bonds of friendship that can be formed in a game such as EVE. Even if you have never met in person.
I never met Brian but he sounds like a class act and someone worth knowing. My condolences to you and yours and Brian's family.

Condolences
I received a phone call from JimBob666 on Monday morning informing me that Brian had passed away. I was dumbstruck and lost for words.
Brian (aka Darkroni) was the one of the first players I made friends with whilst playing EVE. Reluctantly, he agreed to have a chat with the then directors of OMCR and became the second newest recruit after myself. He ended up CEO and me, well; I didnĘt even get to director.
I would like to send my condolences to BrianĘs family and friends at their recent loss. Having lost my mother five months ago, I can understand what BrianĘs family and friends are going through at this moment. It is in times like these, friends and family are the key source of comfort and I hope you all get through this time of sadness together.
Rest in peace Brian.

Tasteless, utterly tasteless.
My best to his family and friends, I hope you meet, if not exceed, his goal of a Navy Raven.
Perhaps we could convince CCP to use his real life name and make him an agent for his race; thus, truly immortalizing his memory and love for EVE-online.

Sorry mate .. but thats account sharing ... If CCP accepts the fact Brian is indead deceiced .. simply getting the account online is a EULA violation.
At that point he will die a certain death ingame too (no phun intended)

I'm sure his family could arrange for a character transfer if necessary to be all legal about it but in this case I can't imagine it is something CCP would get their panties in a twist over.

Ive never met Brian in RL, but after flying with him for a year and a half I can honestly say that he was a great guy. One of the first players I met in EVE, Darkroni was always there to help out. He will be missed.

Nah. As long as they transfer his account to the next of kin there's no legal problem here. Its part of his estate like any other. Either his direct next of kin, estate executor, or probate attorney could make the arrangements. Although I can't see CCP being so cold as to make you jump through that kind of hoop.
My condolences to the family and his friends, loss is always hard to deal with. |

This is about what I've come to expect from EVE. Overrun by children without the restraint to control their e-peens, even at a memorial.
Metagamed restraint of player be limiting to player choice, but it tends to cut down assinine nonsense like this.

Edited by: Kaldragon on 09/05/2007 20:48:47 just been told about this thread by friends Thxs Jim. Brian was a part of my life for 19 years, we laughed cried and got drunk together. Though him i met my wife and he was my bestman at my wedding. Thou im surrounded by friends and family i have never felt so alone as i do at this moment in time. He got me in to EVE and here i sit now a addict to this game that he told me "was a good laugh" to my wifes despair . To the people posting i will be adding your comments to a scrap book my wifes making for his mom from his online friends and wellwishers and these comments will be joining the airsoft one's in that book. I will be finishing his task in getting his navy raven as it something he's been working towards for a long time. once again thxs for your kind thoughts.

Condolences. You can get real friends in an imaginary world, and losing them hurts.
But this I don't get:

Will his family learn how to play EVE for this? I'm sorry but that just makes no sense to me.
