Erm, what is Kieron talking about? I have no clue, can someone help me out? This is very cryptic.

Edited by: Gnulpie on 28/03/2007 19:38:33 After reading a bit about the background in this case I can only agree to some people who said it already: Karma.
CCP is unhappy that some of their employees in game work got destroyed by shady underhand tactics? Spys? Forum alts? Hacking? Welcome to Eve I would say...
How many corps and alliances got destroyed because the opponent used bugs, exploits, spies? People who worked for those corps years and years and then in mere moments all was gone because of strange/undocumented/blurry game mechanics. Or the titan kills. Or advantages due to node crashes. Or nasty scams. Or griefing. Or offlining towers with spies, or or or
Maybe now the people at CCP think about metagaming again and don't praise it any longer as such a good thing...
Edit: Honest and open gameplay, that is a good thing. Spies and metagaming is bad!

Edited by: Gnulpie on 28/03/2007 21:43:27 I can't see why the CCP people cannot stay in the corp/alliance once they got discovered.
This whole 'delete the char when busted' more or less calls out straight for such witch hunts like the current 'vendetta'.
Why not just telling people who the employees are in game and if someone suspects them to do something wrong then they contact the new IA section.
There are always people who will yell 'foul' wether there was foul play or not, these people must be ignored and a healthy community will ignore them. There might be quarrels about this or that case, but in general I think my suggestion has many benefits - more than the current one. But in the end it is not my business but CCP's
And the current advise in Kieron's blog is of course by no way bad advise. It is always good to watch information about you not slipping out in too big amounts.
Edit: spelling

Again I must state my opinion because it seems so reasonable to me and I think it might solve lots of problems.
I have no problem with devs playing the game, they need to know how it works, where it is bad and what could be made better. Game experience is very helpful in that. Furthermore it is good that they play! Never trust a cook who doesn't eat his own food!!
So why is it necessary that once a dev/GM/CCP employee got his char revealed this char needs to be removed?
Just let everyone know who plays whom and most of the problems are solved! It would of course add some in game problems like becomming prime targets or something like this in the first time, but when everyone got used zo this I think the gameflow will be normal like ever.
Allow the GM/dev/employee to keep their char and reveal their names and all is fine I think. With one simple action all the accusations and witch hunts would stop once and for all and everyone could concentrate on the important/fun stuff again instead of dealing with ugly things.
Did I say that I think this would be a good solution?
