You're one of the combatants, and you've accused each other of being fundamentally untrustworthy. As a result, you can't expect either one of you to trust the other to arrange an even fight. All else proceeds from there.

Pilot Osyn I understand your dismay, please allow me to correct the record where you might not be aware of the actual facts.
I gave up home field advantage conditionally, and asked her where I could find her to duel, giving her home field advantage. Cowardly kim refused to disclose her location, and still has never posted what system I could come to fight her in.
The condition was after I go to her system and fight she comes to my system to fight.
In all fairness just how much slack are you going to cut cowardly kim by saying both our actions are equal when the facts prove decisively otherwise?
She claims it is all lies but I have both witnesses and chat logs to prove the validity of my statements. kim's defense is a Caladri officer can not lie and I therefore must be demented. I am not asking you to like me or take my side, just please stand on the side of verifiable facts and the truth. Is that too much to request?

Could it be we capsuleers are enamored with the idea of things dying?

With the exception of those who I have asked to not participate in my threads all willing to exchange ideas remain welcome. Well-- if there were more ideas in play it might be more interesting, but, you and Ms. Kim snarling at each other is pretty boring, Mr. Ronin. That's mostly what this thread's about, now. You won't ignore her and she won't ignore you. ... And since it happens almost everywhere you both post, this thread isn't even working as quarantine.
In what's probably a pointless effort to change the subject:
It doesn't seem like capsuleers are so much enamored of death as inured to it. ... That's the physical deaths of human beings, not of things whose "lives" are abstractions. Maybe somewhere there's someone who arranges funerals for blown fuses, complete with offerings to speed their passage into the next world, though.
Anyhow, most people of whatever sort tend to wish that a story or conversation or whatever end, once it no longer serves a purpose, even if they've actually never killed anybody and would never want to.
Immortality for people seems like a questionable goal; immortality for something like a stale series of novels even more so. |

I refer to the sacrifice made by baseline crews. The fact that I do so is often derided by other capsuleers who find greater challenge and sport in combat against capsuleer piloted ships. In both cases baseline crew members expire.
Perhaps focusing on the capsuleer pilot who will reanimate in a new clone can help our fellow capsuleers to ignore the baseline crews we kill/murder/execute every time we destroy an opposing vessel.
Because we can be such efficient engines of death and destruction the DED and Concord were quite clever to enact a system that gives wide margins for capsuleer versus capsuleer combat. I can burn through a hundred or more baseline piloted ships in a day but not nearly as many capsuleer piloted ships so it limits the destruction a capsuleer can inflict if they spend their time hunting down other capsuleers.
I am of the opinion that many of the things often thought of as protection measures are in fact in place to contain capsuleers first and foremost.
The crew compliments of each vessel we pilot should be more readily available. I would wager that most capsuleers don't think about how many crew are on board until they are talking with their accounting department in regard to their wages or bonuses.
I think more capsuleers would be mindful of the death we inflict if the crew size of vessels was listed in their descriptions.

Actually, do you have any ideas about how to do that? Ideas from anybody reading this are welcome. I know of several families among the Hegirin that take on personnel placement contracts with Urban Management. One of their standard terms is that a log of crew manifests must be submitted at the top of each billing cycle, so that records remain accurate and available to Clans who wish to locate their kin. In less auspicious circumstances, it also makes transporting cadavers and personal effects far more efficient. Probably one of the easiest bureaucratic mechanisms to adapt from the Tribal to the Republic model, historically.
Some outfits (Matari or otherwise) will even include these manifests in their monthly balance memos, just to substantiate their bottom line to shareholders or Republic officials. I'm sure the practice is more widespread than that, but among capsuleer corporations the reluctance to publish any internal data comes with the territory.
Just one path to consider if your corporation publishes a regular statement, and your typical crew complements include a significant number of Republic citizens. |

Well, it should be mentioned that with proper procedures in place it is possible to cut down on the number of fatalities. Not having necessary crew aboard for short deployments, having crew waiting to be jettisoned in escape pods (especially for frigate combat where reloading and other things aren't likely in the short engagements generally seen) can help chances slightly. Don't forget that baseline ships also have more in terms of crew in general. I believe Elmund was working on completely automating his breeches, don't know how/if that is working out for him. The numbers of crew in ships was listed on a page at one point, I'm not sure if that page still exists however. I have to agree with you on having base crew sizes listed. |
