interesting, care to explain? specifically what was fixed? it would be appreciated as it can be read several ways (as I noticed from the comments). I agree with the previous posts about it all but making the recons expensive disposible ships and that it should be reworked imo. I have submitted my ideas on the topic to the appropriate places and wont rehash but I would like to know what you think was fixed and if there is any talk of making them more friendly for the heros who have to hold the cynos open for the capital ships

First. Blob warefare is not a bad thing. Alot of players like the epic feel of fleet battles. There should be no limits to fleets other than the ones already imposed by the new gang system. Even those at time are harsh given the training time.
but essentially I think that CCP should try to design the game to avoid the classical tank rush to win battles.
I agree with you, but everything I have read thus far speaks of them taking things too far yet again.
For example the mini dooms day pos structure.
Pos warefare is already insanely stupid. A structure like that will only encourage unbalanced fleets I.E only battleships because those are the only ships likely to survive such a blast.
The problem with area affect weapons in this game is that the smaller ships ALWAYS get screwed. Thats why torp AOE dmg was orginaly taken out of the game in the first place. Putting stuff like that back in now is just plain foolish. Its like fixing a problem and then a month later breaking it again just so you can fix it again... whats the point of that?
The new gang system IMO address ALOT of the old fleet style combat. Forming a fleet is no longer a simple afair. Though I assure you Bob has been adapting and has a few nice tricks up its sleave in regards to it. Its no longer a matter of oh lets build 50 tanks and go take a system. No its more like lets figure out how to make a tactically sound fleet that will have the most possible advantages and bonus in combat from all its leaders... this is no small feet when talking about a fleet as large as 250 members.
Even under the old gang system when you could just create fleets of up to 200 people on the fly, you still had to think how to best use your resources affectively instead of everyone killing each other due to lag.
Granted in the end there are still 50 tanks. The difference now is that there arent 50 of the same tanks... its 10 armor tanks 10 sheild tanks 10 ecm tanks 10 gang tanks etc...

i've said it before and i'll say it again
if you want to reduce the hubs like jita - you need to allow the ability to view the markets of other regions ... HOW you choose to implement this give you lots of freedom to not sacrafice whatever other mechanics you want to protect
additionally the new contract system needs a method to seach by group ... the whole browsing concept is gone ... no longer can i just pop on and see what's for sale regarding faction shield boosters ... or +3 implants ... it's a perfect system if i'm looking for exactly one item ... if i want to browse what hot deals might be available in a general category i'm screwed |
