Today we have deployed the Mac version of the beta launcher. If you haven't heard about the new EVE Launcher before, check out this dev blog.
You can install the Mac version from here: https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-976381.dmg The latest Windows version is found here: https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-976381.exe
On Windows, the update has the following changes, fixes and additions:
- Title bar is now transparent
- E menu has moved to the right side, with an arrow icon to indicate that it drops down a menu
- Launcher now gets a unique icon the task bar. Note that existing shortcuts are not automatically updated.
Known issues:
- Launcher does not work with AMD Crossfire setup.
- Norton Security may interfere with installation or updating of the launcher
- Mac GÇô Quit button on individual account lines does not work GÇô simply close the client itself
We are aware of the following frequently requested items:
- GUI - Checkbox for selecting accounts is not visually clear enough
- GUI - Display portrait of characters near the account
- GUI - Launch & Unlink account icons are too close together. Add confirmation dialogue to unlink.
- GUI - Play/Quit process button should be more visible in relation to other icons
- GUI - Server selection should maintain order TQ > Sisi > Duality regardless of what server is picked
- GUI - Would be great to have the latest news back
- Launcher - Prevent multiple instances of the launcher
- Launcher - Should be able to minimize to system tray
- Launcher - Start client with a specific character selected
- Launcher / GUI - option to have the launcher minimize when launching clients
- Launcher / GUI - option to have the launcher force the client to run DX9
- Security - Yubico Two-Factor support
- Settings - Ability to migrate / import / export / clone client settings
- Settings - Store client settings in server / cloud
- Settings - Option to enable the launcher asking whether to download new builds (for 4g/bandwidth restriction)
FAQ
- Can we focus on a running account from the Launcher GUI? - Yes, double click the running account, either in the account list or from processes view.
- Can we use Steam with the new launcher? - There is currently no Steam integration with the new launcher, but you may join the beta by setting an account name for account created through Steam
- I had multiple accounts logged in, changed servers and then switched back to Tranquility. Only one account remained logged in. How can I fix this? - This happens if "Remember This Account" is not enabled. With this option not enabled, only the account last logged in will remain.
- The information pop-ups overlay advertisements. - As-is this falls under intended design, as we deem messaging to users important.
- Switching between servers does not maintain a list of accounts I've already logged into. - This is intended as each server has its own SSO and authentication. The tokens or other credentials supplied for Tranquility may therefore not be valid for other servers.

Yeah, sorry about that, this issue will be fixed soon. For now, just resize the window until the Accept button comes into view.

Try reinstalling the launcher under C:/Games/EVE/Launcher, leaving the shared cache at C:/Games/EVE/sharedcache.

Same. iMac 27" mid 2011 / 10.11.1 / 16gb ram. The mac of course has no repair.exe ^^ Please file a bug report, attaching logs from the launcher. You should find them at ~/Library/Application Support/CCP/EVE/Launcher.

You are getting corrupt files for some reason - this isn't properly handled and mostly not displayed to you, the player, as of yet. Try refreshing (under the view menu, that should retry downloading the file(s) that are missing. If that doesn't help, try shutting down the launcher and restarting. If that still doesn't help, bear with me and I'll post an update soon.

It should come out as 10MB file (10,371,702 bytes), and you should be able to open it in a text editor (that can handle large files). I'm seeing several logs where this file seems to fail, and it is crucial to starting up the client.

This confuses me. It's hard to know whe I can drag the window to some other place. Could you revert this, or change that I can move the window by dragging it part of the background (no activable element/button where I drag). Kind of thinking that top border would be 100% of the height. ps. Personally I don't like windows that don't use system borders (or theme), but that might be because I prefer KDE for my main desktop. On windows I think this is too common to have your own borders, so there it probable needs to be done in this way. The underlying graphics will change in the near future, indicating a draggable title bar.

I'm invalidating this file (and one other) so it will be cached on all nodes from the original source. Try again in 30min or so. If that still doesn't work I'll need to dig into this with our provider.

Edit: I checked: a file named "code.ccp" appears in
/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/duality /EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/sisi
but not in
/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/tq
This may have something to do with my almost exclusive use of clones. I don't log into tq, except with a clone. I'll keep doing stuff, and see. There is something going on on the backend - I-¦ll have to investigate this tomorrow. These files appear to be missing (or be corrupt) on some nodes on the CDN network, so it depends on where you are located whether you get those files or not. Nothing I can do at the moment, I-¦m afraid.

I found the missing files - hit refresh from the view menu to get those pesky files that were preventing the TQ client from starting up.
I will add safeguards to prevent this issue from happening again, sorry for the inconvenience.

This should have been fixed this afternoon - did you just try it? If not, try restarting the launcher and see if that works. If not, please file a bug report (http://community.eveonline.com/support/bug-reports/) to my attention and attach the launcher logs. You should find them under ~/Library/Application Support/CCP/EVE/Launcher.

Also the launcher was working as Administrator of course (as it didn't read the virtual storage) :) THANK YOU! I've been tearing my hair out trying to work out how the files were not being updated for some players, and we've not been able to reproduce this. This is a very specific sequence of events that explains this scenario. If I can detect this scenario in the launcher I can correct it, so you've done everybody a huge favor figuring this out.

Over and over.
Its not PYFA related, it happens whenever the Mac Launcher is open. That error message is repeated about 100 times every ten seconds when I have the launcher open. This is curious - it doesn't come from any launcher code. I'll see if I can reproduce this on my end.

Please enable pasting on the form. I'm on Mac and I'm running into the same issue. From a security perspective this is terrible, you should encourage your users to use randomly generated strong passwords combined with a password manager and the inability to paste passwords does the exact opposite. I'm also wondering why no dev has responded to this issue while multiple people reported it. Please let me know if you plan on fixing this. This turns out to be a known issue in Qt 5.5 - will be fixed in 5.6, which is due in a couple of weeks.
