Factional players should be able to engage neutrals without penalty just like if they were part of the enemy faction while inside contested areas. |

Ok so we have a completed thought with no reason or rhyme behind it.
Why should they be able to? Why should it change rules of engagement? Why should they suffer no sec status penalty? How would it be exploitable? What does it add to the game? What does it take away?
you need to back up ideas on F&I not just spout them out, can you give us anything to work with here?

Why should they be able to?
Neutral characters are often used as scouts for faction fleets and as a way of forcing an aggression timer before the fleet enters the system.
Why should it change rules of engagement?
This change would only apply when inside of the active war zone so would not affect rules of engagement outside of there.
Why should they suffer no sec status penalty?
They are in an active warzone which they are part of that war. Penalizing someone for engaging someone that poses a potential threat to their faction does not make a ton of sense.
How would it be exploitable?
The possible exploit here is gankers joining FW to be able to gate camp and such in the warzone without penalty. I have pretty limited experience so I can not really point out possible exploits beyond that.
What does it add to the game?
It gives PvP players more reason to be in factional warfare and gets more activity going. It also helps newer players who have decided to join FW but end up with a bad status just for defending them self.
What does it take away?
Again thanks to my limited experience outside of FW I can not really comment on this. Personally I do not see anything that it takes away.

If you are defending yourself you don't take a sec status hit, and if they have a low enough sec status you don't either.
MAYBE inside a plex they could do this, but I doubt the coding could be done to make that work. Unless you don't mind people who aren't apart of FW not having to take the Sec status either I don't see this working. |

typically, being in a warzone doesnt mean free-to-shoot. |

Good point, most countries today have a pretty harsh view of their soldiers opening fire on civilians (in this case non-militia)
Now that's not to say that the situations are anywhere near the same (outside the context of pixels=/=actual lives) in that civilians don't run around with military grade weapons (normally) but I could definitely see the militia not wanting their guys opening fire on non-militia personnel unless they show a active type of aggression. |

1. Which isn't a reason for this change. Neutral is exactly that.
2. Rules of engagement apply in this active warzones, just as they do out. Again, not a reason for change.
3. But you are attacking a neutral, which goes against the rules of engagement. So if you do not want the sec hit, don't shoot first.
4. Ahh so you want it to be only one way? You can shoot without penalty, but the neutral cannot. Yeah, no.
5. No it gives you a get out for shooting neutrals. If you were defending, I.E. they shot you first, you wouldn't have this problem.
6. It takes away the rules of low sec and the punishment from you for breaking them.
Now if you had come here asking for all ship engagements in low sec, to be changed and the sec hit removed to pods only, I would agree that could improve things. But to whine and only think about yourself and ask for 'special' rules. Well no thanks.
Also this is an old idea, so reported for redundancy.

Um no, just because someone is in a warzone doesn't mean you should get to shoot them without penalty. If you want to shoot them go ahead, just don't cry about the sec hit. You really don't lose that much any way when you shoot someone's ship any way I do it all the time and I'm still positive sec status. If its neutral alts your worried about, then learn how to work around it. |
