Hey pilots.
Me and CCP Karkur, have been poking at the fitting window. Adding the ability to test fit with ships and modules you don't own and see effects of modules when active or overheated without undocking. In short a lite version of EFT/PYFA inside client.
Some of the information in the stats panel is just raw data and not very useful in context. For example Inertia Modifier might be more useful as an Align Time attribute, a combination of attributes to give you relevant information. A sort of a 0-60 mph. concept that can be easily understood without knowing anything about the engine under the bonnet or other tech of the car.
We are planning to add Alpha in the offence panel and more information for drone users.
It would be nice to get some feedback on what would be useful for you guys to have in the fitting stats and if we see some recurring patterns in your feedback we might implement your suggestions as a part of the feature set.
This projects is just a Skunkworks endeavor for now but hopefully it's to enter production SOON tm.

Alvatore DiMarco wrote:Hopefully you'll include the ability to actually switch modules on and off rather than having to online/offline them as you currently do. It's impossible to get an accurate picture of capacitor behavior with a MWD fitted when using the current fitting tool since you can only "turn off" the MWD by offlining it, which modifies the capacitor directly.
For the DPS estimate, let us pick which drones are counted instead of always using the biggest/most damaging ones. If I have a flight of ogres and a flight of warriors, I have to remove the ogres from my drone bay in order to see what the warriors are capable of.
If it's possible to clean up the capacitor simulation in general so that it's a bit more accurate (I haven't used EFT in a long time but there were several fittings where EFT's capacitor estimate was the correct one) then that would be excellent as well.
These are ALL things we are planning to get done!

Kaiser Itinen wrote:I would have to second the ability to be able to toggle the modules on/off/overheated having to remove the item to get a better idea of capacitor life is rather annoying. You could also stream line it just a bit more. If you didn't know what you where looking at it can be a really confusing window. I know that when newbros join my Corp I really have to explain the fitting window quiet a lot.
In short, the idea is to cycle on module click idle / active / overload / offline (might have offline in a separate pattern) ONLY showing stats when the module is ACTIVE in the fitting window. We might put the state to active on fit (in the window) The fitting window module state is completely decoupled from the HUD, activating your autocannons in the fitting window will not blast a hole in the station or the object closest to you.

This is something we have been toying around with doing, let's hope we have bandwidth to make it so!

Heres a few things
Will the fitting screen when it use's your modules and those that are ghost modules work from POS hangers, divisions and cargo hold.
Batch fitting of ships if you have the ships and parts.
Information for modules that you have fitted for things like timers, effect, strength etc when you roll over them.
The locations we will take the modules from is TBD based on usability and technical feasibility
Batch fitting is an awesome idea that has been requested by many and is high on our wish list
We will try to update tool-tips to give the best and most relevant information is something we want to do as a part of the project

Insurance Agent wrote:Previous post mentioned that we should be able to see the skills that have an impact.
The ship and modules is only half the information, the other half is implementing a way to select character skills and implants. CCP Sharq, you mentioned that resources are limited for this feature, if CCP doesn't give you the resources go tell them it's a waste of time, do it right or focus on something else until there are enough resources.
The resources are only limited (time) for now while this is being done as an on the side thing. Hopefully that will change soon.

Fly Safe o7 Nice to see a CCP_Dev respond to comments. Seven posts within the first couple pages. Compare that to some Dev's who only comment a couple times within a 200 page threadnaught. (And a lot of those are "Back from vacation, all caught up" BS posts). Gold star for CCP_Sharq Thanks, gold teeth maybe?

How pathetic. Oops, sorry to be honest I forgot about this thread, been too busy working on Ghostfitting It's progressing rather nicely, although it's not our top priority, but you can expect to see more info on it SoonGäó(actually hopefully next week)

Today we had a session with the CSM where they played around with the ghostfitting for the first time. We got some great feedback from them and some of it has even been acted on already

DieNadel wrote:First time testing but I was so blow away by the power the Ghost Fitting feature that I had to see and give feedback. Any chance the tool will also take into account the ships traits ? I have a Stealth Bomber fit with high negatives of both CPU and Grid.. But the rest of it pure genius !! Hmmmm, it should take all the ship bonuses into account. Like the the Manticore has 99.7% Torpedo launcher powergrid reduction, so you should be able to fit them without going over in power. Could you please give some more ecamples?
Also, it would be great if we could keep the feedback in the other thread

Jason Strike wrote:It's nice to have a toggle to see what you do and don't have the skills for.
But is there any chance of a "Treat all skills as level V" toggle, when using ghost fitting, so you can number crunch the max potential of the ship? Not just what you've trained so far. We are using the character's brain, so in order to do that, we'd need to build a custom made brain, and tbh, I haven't even looked into if/how that would be possible. I know it's super useful, but we also want to keep the window simple and opted for not including that for the time being.
